By WoodenLung Go To Postmaybe it's the commercially right choice, sure. the show feels like it's going to do fine without appealing to the biggest brainlets though.
but overall after having watched two episodes, it's better than expected. how many episodes are planned? hoping not too many. zombie apocalypse can be entertaining, but not if they go full Lost with season length.
9 episodes for season 1.
Thought his episode had some pretty weak elements; everything surrounding Kathleen, the action feeling distinctly off at times (video gamey), etc.
Still though, Sam & Henry/Ellie & Joel were great.

yeah, the sniper scene felt videogamey, but i was into it nonetheless. that bloater was a big lad.
henry and sam were great. perhaps my favorite episode yet because of them. loved the scenes between ellie and sam (that kid is a great actor).

I'm really enjoying Bella Ramsey in this, fantastic actor. I don't think I've seen them in anything else before.

She was in Game of thrones and stole pretty much every scene she was in.
Another great episode
Oof Kansas City is over
Lol the entire militia was there and now they’re infected
Bloater is OP

My nephews love Miles Morales, they look like him and they live in Spanish harlem. People don't know how much he means to the kids
The actor for Sam in the game is the actor for Miles in the games: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadji_Jeter
Everything up to Joel picking up the rifle was really good.
I didn't like the sniper section at all though. Kathleen casually jogging away while her dude stayed back to get his head ripped off looked so silly as well.
The kid playing Sam was very good indeed.

I am so glad I never replayed this game since 2013, apart from the ending of the game, I have forgotten everything else.
Great TV. Nick Offerman killed it.

I had no idea Melanie Lynskey was Kiwi until the post show commentary. Always assumed she was midwestern
Ep 5 was what I came for that was great. First good Ellie ep and the hulk zombie was nuts

Oh shit, good to great episode.
Don't understand the gamey comments, not really sure how else they should have executed the action for the type of show it is.

I also don’t get the dislike of tbe action … great episode. Ellie saying her fear is ending up alone to the kid 😬🥴
I think it’s because the action scenes mirror the set pieces in the games and people played the games so they come to mind. If there was no game to compare nobody would say that, but I might be wrong.
You're wrong.
I don't remember the game and not even sure what gamey means. It was just plain old mid

That entire scene was better than the game too.
One video game element that has helped the show a ton is the different types of infected, that really helps separate it from the genre/monster post apocalyptic genre. And they've established that all of them are dangerous.

Didn't like the clicker swarm. They move too fast.
The action in general hasn't been shot or choreographed in a particularly compelling way so far. The game is mostly about tension interrupted with moments of ultra-violence, and that seems to be lacking here.

By Crusher Go To PostBut you played the game. And you remember it enough to say it was mid. So I’m right. Maybe.I literally said I don't remember the game
The tv show's setpiece was mid
I agree there’s a lack of gore. Was expecting it to be much more aggressive.
You also said you don’t understand what gamey means in this context so we’re just having different conversations.
I agree that the action hasn’t been particularly exciting. Doesn’t hold a candle to the games so far.

I disagree; there has been very little clicker action so far, but the build up to them arriving and having a presence has been very clear.
A dude also got his head ripped off. That’s pretty violent.
More meant that they physically move too fast. Yeah, the decapitation felt like the first bit of meaty violence we really got, and it was dark and far away. Boo, I say.
You should check out Black summer if you want high violence from this genre. But, the zombies move fast, and people turn as soon as someone dies.

That show is probably the pinnacle for well shot, interesting zombie action.

That's why I'm hoping they make Abby black.
Great episode, Pascal showing more range was very good
