By Perfect Blue Go To PostRay to the Mariners. Treat him well, blackace.yeah, not a bad deal. Player option after the 3rd year.
The Seager signing was a gut punch. The Yankees need lefty hitting and a short stop, and he was both. Now they will have to find lefty hitting somewhere else, and I still hope to god they do not end up with Correa at short.
The shit thing there is another predicted landing spot for Correa has already been filled by Baez.

But he want Seager money🥺

I just don't want any of those Astros, I don't care where they end up. I guess I would have to get over it if they Yankees signed him, but I'd rather Correa, Altuve, Bregman, and Gurriel all get punted overseas. Gurriel, specifically, should be forced to sign in Japan (and then immediately get suspended) after the shit he pulled with Yu Darvish.
I mean the Yankees have Wandy Peralta stealing signs already, so Astro players would fit right in, no?
Punted. All of them.
Anyway, the one thing that gives me "hope" is that Correa is looking for a huge payday, but Hal doesn't seem all that keen on spending. He says he is, of course, but he supported the owners' proposal to drop the luxury tax threshold, so it seems like he would rather just cash in on the Yankees brand without going to extra mile.

By Perfect Blue Go To PostThat’s an underpay for Stroman. Thought he was getting 30 AAV. Great pitcher.
Stroman is a Duke product. Are you now me? Perfect-12, meet Pac Blue.

Snoop Dogg damn near disowned his own son for going to UCLA, I mean, that was real. But I don't think that implicates me. No, I think I'm innocent.
Seattle Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager, who is coming off a career season in which he set highs for home runs and RBIs, is retiring after an 11-year career, according to a statement by him that was posted to Twitter by his wife.
"Today I'm announcing my retirement from Major League Baseball," said his statement posted to social media by Julie Seager. "Thank you to all of my family, friends and fans for following me throughout my career. It's been a wonderful ride but I am unbelievably excited for the next chapter of my life."
Seager, 34, had 35 home runs and 101 RBIs last season for Seattle, where he spent his entire MLB career. Overall, he had 242 homers, 807 RBIs and had a .251 batting average.
Odd choice, given career highs this year.

35 HR and 101 RBIs can at least get you another payday
But maybe he has earned enough and can walk away
But maybe he has earned enough and can walk away
I think there were only like 3 Yankees who hit over 250 last year
Such a shit season
edit: for those with enough ABs to matter (400+, there are others in the 20-154 range), there were actually 5 (Judge, Stanton, LeMahieu, Urshella, Torres).

By blackace Go To PostPretty meh in all advanced stats plus he hasnt hit over 250 in like 5 yearsSpotrac says he made 100m. but man i'd try to get one last bag
The only place I wanted to see him go was Texas to play with his brother.
Other than that I kind of feel he made the right decision, he probably wasn't getting any proper offers anyways. I mean, he got a big contract from Seattle but I doubt anybody believes that he is a 30+ HR 100 RBI guy suddenly at 33.
The grind of baseball is wild, so hopefully he can get a gig in the Mariners org doing something like training dudes how to field.

I was listening to MLB Radio yesterday and they had an interview with some long time player whose name slips me and they were like "do you miss playing" and dude was basically "No. Baseball is hard as fuck, I'm glad to be done." Dude talked about about missing teammates and the comaradarie of the game, but actually playing? Not at all. And then hosts were on today talking about other players (in context of Seager retiring) about how maybe they could have played another year or two and maybe make the hall of fame but they were "I just want to go home."
so are the Braves gonna win again this year?
it'd be fun living in the city while it happens.
i expect a better parade than what they put on this year though.
is there going to even be a season? idk shit about baseball outside of Ohtani.

1) fuck the Braves
2) unless they're facing Houston... so, yeah
The lockout, though, is definitely just ridiculous. The owners are fucking the players so hard already as it is, just give a little back. A reach around, owners, is that too much to ask for?
There's a lot of pessimism (at least in the circles I have been in) that there will even be legitimate talks until sometime later in February, which obviously puts into jeopardy spring training and the start of the season. Position players really don't need much of spring training (as far as I am told), but pitchers (especially starters) actually do need it because their pitch counts just don't immediately go 0 to 100 at the snap of a finger, so it's just get the deal done, owners stop fucking the players, and let's have a season on time in 2022.

So Koko's boy and alleged steroid user David Ortiz apparently got elected to the baseball hall of fame. However, other alleged steroid users Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens did not make it in their last year of (writer vote) eligibility.
And Jesus fuck did Curt Schilling ever fuck up. His personal opinions are of course ridiculous, but if you recall last year, dude was literally just on the verge of getting in. Over 70% of the vote (the threshold for the hall is 75%), it was widely considered that as per prior voting traditions and patterns he could get to the mark this year afterwards, but dude went on this idiotic, stupid, moronic, (more synonyms for dumb) tirade saying "take me off the ballot!" since he did not get selected in the prior vote. But this year was literally also his last year to be eligible on the writers' ballot. Hello? McFly?
Though, you know, I guess it seems like quite a few writers gave him the respect he asked for, since this year's number was apparently below 60.
I would say he should be a hall of famer based on his play, but I would also say he is a dick and he just fucked himself.

Yeah, I think Bonds, Clemens (regardless of alleged steroid or HGH use, everyone was doing it, it is what it is, hang an asterisk near their plaque, whatever) should be in, as should Schilling even though they should probably just mute his acceptance speech.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostRIP Jeremy Giambi, I was actually thinking about him a few days ago for some random reason.
It was apparently a self-inflicted gunshot.

For the record, it's midnight eastern, it's now 3/1, there's no official agreement between the owners and players, so the regular season may or may not be impacted since the owners imposed a) the lockout on 12/1, b) did not really offer any proposals or negotiations through January, and then c) imposed the 2/28 deadline like a week ago for reaching a deal.
