2021-2022 offseason text
Atlanta won the 2021 World Series. Let's set that aside and at least celebrate that Houston did not.
Time to start looking towards 2022. Some big questions to answer, starting with the CBA expiring at the end of November. Will they reach a new one, will there be a lockout?
Also something to follow during the offseason is player movement, considering MLB's archaic player retention system makes it so that you often don't reach free agency until you're 30. For those under more years of potential team control, who will get tendered, who will be allowed to walk away?

Seagar and Sherzer are gone. Hope they bring back Taylor though. Corey should never be allowed to play SS again
The Yankees obviously have to make moves in the infield. They moved Torres off short stop and back to 2nd, so they need an answer there, and figure out what to do at first and third. They have LeMahieu on a 6 year deal (5 years left), they'll have to put him on one of the corners, so either Voit or Urshella is out, and maybe even both (hell, they could even trade DJ, but I doubt anyone would take 5 years at I think 75 million left, or they could trade Torres, who knows). They need left handed hitting more than anything else.
The outfield is also interesting. Judge has 1 year left of arbitration, they need to lock him up. There's a mutual option for Brett Gardner to come back another year, either side could opt in (Gardy opting in is less money than the Yankees opting in). Aaron Hicks will be back from injury, and they have Joey Gallo another year. Haven't even mentioned Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar, both of which they might just let walk away.
Just get me more lefties in the lineup, bring balance. I don't know if that's getting a lefty short stop, hanging on to Anthony Rizzo at first, both? The only time they really played well this year was when they had Rizzo and Gallo bringing balance, and Stanton in the outfield so Voit could still get in there and DH. I heard that Bauer has exercised his option, so it's on MLB/LAD to figure out what the fuck to do there. Obviously, Bauer had to opt in after what happened this year. I'm not sure where the criminal investigation is, but the restraining order thing went in his favor. Is the fucker a deviant? Sure. Is he criminally deviant? Seems like it's hard to prove based on text messages and other things, at the very least, but who knows.
Awful spot to be in, even if the dude is completely exonerated. Many fans would not be supportive either way.
For me, it's what does LA do with Kershaw. I want him to finish his career in a Dodgers uniform, and I hope they can figure out a way to make it happen. But if that doesn't work out, Clayton, maybe consider the Bronx.

Gardner, the last player on the team from its 2009 World Series title, hit .201 with five homers and 18 RBIs in the first half, then hit .239 with five homers and 21 RBIs in the second half.
The 38-year-old outfielder agreed early in spring training to a one-year, $5.15 million contract that included a $2.3 million player option and a $7.15 million club option with a $1.15 million buyout.

They probably see a guy who strikes out about 10 per 9 IP and was slightly unlucky and figure with their player dev program they can fix him. Julio Lugo, who played for seven teams in a 12-year major league career and was the shortstop for Boston's 2007 World Series championship team, has died, the Red Sox said. He was 45.

I think both sides should be happy with this deal. Syndergaard can rehab his value for a pretty good sum after not pitching for a couple of years, and the Angels get a guy who can contribute for sure as long as he's healthy and can go.
1 year, 21 million? I only wonder if Syndergaard could have held out for something more, even if at lower AAV. But as I had before, if he rehabs his value, maybe he can get a higher AAV next offseason.
