It would be funny if after all the criticism Villeneuve had towards HBO Max, it would be the streaming service that guarantees a sequel.

Finished Skyfall. Of the Bond films, I've only seen this and Casino Royale and I liked Skyfall a lot more. The action scenes were great and found most of the sequences far more memorable than CR's. I'm a sucker for 'punished' characters so I was immediately more interested in 007 as a character, same goes for the 'predecessor wants revenge' trope.
It starts off really well but just like CR, Skyfall limps towards the end. The scotland home defense wasn't nearly as fun as the ones proceeding it and went on for far too long. Performance wise, nothing outstanding from any of the names involved, Bardem pretty much carried his role and probably could have been better if the character was more interesting. I don't give a fuck about the old lady so I wish more of his screen time or the whole movie was him fucking with Bond. Ideally, the old lady dying would have been the trigger for Bond returning to work. Bérénice Marlohe tho, whew. Let me get a Casino Royale cut with her CGI'd in to replace Eva Green.
Unlike the rest of the movie, the visuals remained consistently very pretty. shout out roger deakins

By Fenderputty Go To PostSo I rewatched matrix 2 and 3 and found them more enjoyable than I remembered. Pretty stoked for 4Everyone been saying this.
They're on prime.
Wonder if they hold up better so far removed from the trilogy's original releases. Watched them a few months ago and quite liked them, with the knowledge that they're nowhere near as good as the first one.
Got my tickets for Dune in IMAX lads, all the anguish and sadness in lockdown has been building up to this.

I thought about IMAX for Dune, but my last few theater experiences were so disappointing that I can’t help but feel I’m much better served watching it at home after a funny cigarette.

Like fuck sy watches 45 minutes straight. Pretty sure he started Green Knight and Skyfall over a month ago.

Watched a digital viewing from TIFF called Scarborough, which is based off of a book called Scarborough, which is actually based off of Scarborough, Canada. It was very good.

theres that period in a lot of 2+ hour movies. Its before the conclusion, after the middle conflict, and it usually ends up dragging too much to get to the end. Its like n8 said:
I don’t need some interminable 144 minute movie that should have been 101
However, there are exceptions. Just saying most of my experience has been bad.
There's a new Mike Mills joint and every time I remind myself about it I think "this must be how Dune nerds feel this year"
Radio silence from Dipro since he saw Dune. I guess it's shit. Rip.
Yeah, it....isn't good. And "i'm just glad a film like this exists in 2021" doesn't make it good either.

Read a spoiler for the post-credits Venom scene.....lol. I'm not watching that shit but I'm ready for the nerd meltdowns. Very ready.
A lot of the non-critic impressions that are starting to come out seem to be pretty similar in saying the 1st half of the movie is brilliant, but the second half is a bit messy with an anticlimactic end (which makes sense with the 'part 1').
Agree?

Putting Venom in the Tom Holland universe is so so so stupid why would he look like Spider-Man if Peter never had the symbiote, they didn't even put the symbol on him

yeah sounds about right. i did enjoy it from start to finish but i also knew going in that it wouldn't go anywhere. it's veeeery slow but i was captivated the whole time.
it will be very frustrating if we never get part 2.

Which they obviously won't do if it does terrible box office and streaming numbers
According to Warner Bros. insiders, a sequel to the upcoming sci-fi epic, Dune, will only be greenlit if its predecessor succeeds on HBO Max.

Watched Braveheart for the first time last night, it was alright. The battle scenes were done really well and there's a real brutality to the violence on display. Apparently it's not historically accurate, but that didn't really bother me, as I had no idea who William Wallace was.
The romance subplot however had no believability to it, lol

Will it be as bad as Predators or not?
I hope they just do a standalone thing.
Just give me a single Predator again 1/2 style.

It's about the first time the Predators came to Earth and the lead is a native American woman, that's all that is known.
