MI Fallout and Fast Five are two brilliant action movies. The other MIs are all fine to meh, and the other Fasts are all meh to shit.
The start of MI3 is incredible and then its just fine. Never got the love for Ghost Protocol. Brad Bird live action is a big no no.
Rogue Nation was good fun.

I don't even know where to start with Malignant.
I do know one thing though.....that is not a good film. It's actually utter utter shit for about 85% of it. That 15% is pretty enjoyable nonsense, but that is not a good ratio.

By Daz Go To Postyoutube algo recommending Gen Z'errs reacting to Matrix Resurrections - they weren't even born when Revolutions came out.lucky
By Willkiller Go To PostI don't even know where to start with Malignant.I think this is going to be one of the most divisive movies of the year, the majority seems to be on one of two sides, you either hate the movie or you love it.

The marketing doesn't help, it presents the movie as the next Insidious or The Conjuring when they are so completely different and the only thing that they have in common is horror elements.
It's closer to a Basket Case or It's Alive, a schlocky B movie like a direct to video horror classic but with a big budget.
I love that someone made something like that in 2021.
I completely understand if that someone thinks it's utter shit but I wouldn't be shocked if it was on my top 5 favourite movies of the year.

Trier is an absolute legend. Tearing up by the end. Not as good as Oslo, August 31st but still. 😭

Yeah it is absolutely a schlocky B movie. I also thought of Basket Case (BC is better).
That said, the fact it's cool that one of those movies has been made in 2021 with a bigger budget doesn't excuse the first hour of the film being bad. The schlocky B movie comes from the opening scene and the last 25 minutes. The tone in that fraction of the film it absolutely nails, but the vast...vast majority of the film just isn't that.

Was about to say I had no idea Lars von Trier had done a new movie. But it's some bootleg Norwegian Trier.

Trier left his wife, as she was giving birth, to go be with his older kids teacher. So I would like you to refer to him as Chad Lars now.
he really isnt what he used to be. but Riget is a goat tier tv show and Idioterne is one of my favorite movies of all time
Very cool, my TIFF digital screening of Inu-Oh for tomorrow got cancelled and is now off digital entirely. Apparently someone leaked Netflix's new film The Power of the Dog and I'd imagine other distributors are getting hesitant and have started pulling them off digital. A bunch of twats have really gone off now and ruined it for everyone.
I’ll get refunded and what not but i'd much rather see the film and the in-person screenings are sold out.

By s y Go To PostIs Inu Oh from Science Saru?Yes. Masaaki Yuasa's latest work.
I think it's supposed to be his last directorial effort in general. The film is a lot more personal and seeing comparisons with it being similar in tone and style to Belladonna of Sadness had me so hyped. Oh well.
I thought Kate was a relatively entertaining watch. MEW always decent, and the action was well choreographed and shot. More violent than I was expecting.
got about 45 mins in (Kate) before I fell asleep
that car chase sequence was one of the worst bits of cg i can remember in quite a while.
also its extremely difficult for me to believe that killing someone in front of a kid wounded this woman to the point of delirium when she looks like she absolutely fucking buzzes off the violence when killing literally dozens of people.
it is ok though, moves along very quickly. was surprised i was only 45 mins in when i turned it off.

Mate I'm pretty sure it's like 20 minutes in when it reveals she's been poisoned by Polonium-204. That car chase is like 3 minutes before they reveal that.
Or am I missing what you mean about the whole delirium thing?

Nearly every house in James Wan movies looks the same.
Also this thing seems pretty malignant. Beginning to wonder if that's by design.

October apparently for the UK too. Sad. Seems a bit odd, having such a huge gap in release dates for such a big movie

I'm curious to see Malignant after the hammering it's getting.
The only Wan film I've seen is Aquaman (bleugh).
If one had to chose one Wan one what one would it be?

We truly have nothing left as a country now.
