Fucking finally solved my scroll wheel woes. I swapped the rubber band off the Rival 310 wheel and put it on the Model O- and it felt too tight.
Just took the whole wheel out the Rival 310, put the rubber back on it and put that in my O-, and it's a tad smaller but fits near perfectly.
There's a slight bit of play in it, the wheel can be clicked out of position and to the right. Has to be done deliberately though, not something that would happen out of normal use.
Aside from that, back to normal with it until I can put the original wheel back in with a new band around it that fits properly.

Bored and I don't have a see-thru side panel so I took it off and am just letting my computer run like that for a little while. One thing I noticed is that my GPU fan basically never turns on unless I'm gaming. Which is actually really cool. The fan doesn't seem to kick on until the card reaches like 65C.
e: also, the intake side of my cpu cooler is much colder than the exhaust side, so i think i will put a second fan on the exhaust side; won't really make much of a difference, i don't think, but maybe it will!

The fan doesn't seem to kick on until the card reaches like 65C.A lot of GPUs are semi-passive up to a certain point in temps. You should be able to change it via the fan curve in MSI to knock the fans on at whatever temp you deem desirable. Some cards, like FE cards for instance don't allow the fans to go under a certain threshold though (unless you mod the BIOS).

You can also run some case fans as semi-passive too! I know Noctua's A series fans allow this. I set the fans on my bottom rad so they don't start spinning until my GPU and/or CPU hit 50c/60c.

I think I am actually happy where everything is at. I used Argus Monitor to find my subjective acoustical breakpoints so the idle speeds for everything are already silent or near enough to not be bothersome. The only reason to put a second fan on my cpu cooler is that maybe it will stay at a lower speed for longer and may also help the single exhaust fan out a bit.

I really hope the 3080ti has more than that rumored 12GB of vram. Playing Modern Warfare earlier and it reached 10.7GB @ 4k. Could be that the game will use however much vram you have available, but still.

Real talk: I watched that video and I am concerned with DLSS 2.0 oversharpening things. It looks weird and out of place to have some things (like the gun in one of the last images) that are supposed to be a little bit soft natively become very sharpened under DLSS 2.0.

They’ve said sharpening can be very simply controlled with a slider.

online proctor bullshit made me reposition my desktop…as a result, it wasn't fully under the desk, and unfortunately, I ended up spilling a drink…not much, but just a bit. A drop went through a slot in the fan. My monitor goes off….
Not accepting input from the GPU. Switched to onboard–it's all okay. Took out my GPU and left it to sit for a couple of days, plugged it in to different PCIe slots–it's a no go.
RIP GTX TITAN X
I think I'll be requiring a completely new build, but will want to wait until the next gen stuff pops off so I can be best positioned.
RIP PC gaming.
By FootbalIFan Go To Postmy mouse sometimes is randomly double clickingPossibly. You can always disassemble it, clean it, and reassemble. Odds are either there is some trash or gunk messing with the click sensor or you need a replacement cable. Or the circuit board or something could just be completely borked and you need to buy a new mouse.

I'll probably just buy a new one instead of going through that as i would likely break it more
I would say 1 out of 20 clicks, it will double click instead of single click, the other 19 times it clicks once

What mouse is it?
Edit: I've heard some have issues with something called "debounce time" that causes double clicking if it's set too low. If there's software available for your mouse, you may be able to adjust it in there to sort it out.

yea
thing was still going strong too--have been CPU bound for a while with my i3570k
was overdue for a new build anyway, it'll probably be a 1440p 144hz + focused build
also can someone explain to me why my wireless logitech keyboard hasn't been charged one single time since I bought it like two years ago? yeezus
By Kibner Go To PostDoes it do that even when the battery is full?yep, full, close to empty etc
I think its like a physical fault rather than software - I could be wrong but i dont know how its so intermittent yet consistent

Got a weird issue. I hooked up my old 120hz 23'' 1080p monitor using a DisplayPort to DVI-D Dual-Link Active Adapter. I've used it in the past with no issues, although never with my 2080ti. Hooking it up it only shows 60hz, and then I see that it's somehow recognizing the cable as...HDMI-HDTV?
I know I'm not crazy. It wouldn't even fit into the DP port on the card if it wasn't a DP cable. This is weird af.
e:
So I think this was the problem
I hooked my PG27UQ back up which is showing above, but the old 1080p Asus said there was a "repeater cable" or something like that being used referring to the adapter. Probably the cause of my issue. 1080p is officially dead in my house...
...unless I jump on a 240hz monitor.

Had the chance to pit the Razer Viper Ultimate against the G Pro wireless for an hour or so earlier today. My main takaways are as follows:
- I could definitely feel the ~7g difference in weight, more so than I thought I would, though it's obviously nothing major
- the way my hand sat on the mouse was very comparable to the way it does on the G Pro, which I imagine is true for most ambidextrous mouse designs; however the Viper has a much lower curve at the back, which made it quite uncomfortable for a palm gripper like me, as my wrist was dragging on the mouse pad way more than it does with the Pro; this would be the disqualifying factor for me, if I was in the market for a new rodent
- the wheel felt somewhat stiffer, with slightly more defined steps, but what I really liked is that it sits noticeably lower in the shell than on the Pro, which makes clicking on it easier, more natural, less of a chore
- can't really comment on the wireless performance, it felt as snappy and precise as the G Pro to me, wireless it really not a factor anymore
So, yeah, seems like a great mouse, if you're a claw gripper or have hands that can handle the lower rear half.

1600 on the desktop, 800 in games.
i use 1200 in games and desktop.
Wondering if I should try lower ( <900). Went down the rabbit hole of mice, and I guess mine is actually pretty high (for games). I actually have one of my mouse dpi settings at 900, and always found it super slow. I don't have a large mouse pad or mouse mat though. Never really have, which may be how I've become used to 1200.

I think generally, and I may be talking out my arse so someone please correct me here, but when playing at a high resolution like 4K you'd want to be at a higher than "normal" DPI to avoid noticeable pixel skipping.

I basically use the dpi that is comfortable for me in Windows to avoid mis-clicks or overshooting and adjust my game sensitivity from there.

In games, I start my sensitivity so that when I move my mouse from whatever position I consider "center" all the way to the left or right, it makes me do a 180. I then adjust from there.
e: at 1440p, my dpi is 800, though I have considered bumping it up to 1,000

I did a very quick space study and some renders for the custom mini-ITX case I mentioned, just to get an idea of the volume I'd be working with, if I went with the components and design I had in mind (2x120mm fans at the back, 2070/80 RTX card + Morpheus II cooler, Noctua NH-CS14S cooler, SFX PSU). By keeping the CPU & GPU heatsinks symmetrical and in the center of both side panels I could get away with a 370x280x200mm case, which isn't far off the Streacom DA2 I'm blatantly copying (340x287x180mm).
Hardly an ideal use of space, innit. By moving the air intake to the bottom panel I could easily fit 140mm fans and make the case considerably smaller height and depth-wise. Narrower too, if I were to switch to a proper low-profile cooler like the NH-L12S. Having fans blowing air up from the bottom through the vertical heatsink fins would also be hugely beneficial to cooling the Morpheus, I imagine.
Fun stuff.

I shuffled things around a bit, moved the two fans to the bottom of the case, modeled the two heatsinks, added materials, volume is down to about 16l (320x280x180mm). Could be even less, if I went with a HDPlex PSU. What's the word on those in SFF circles, Vapes? Worth it?
This speaks to me.
This speaks to me.
As someone who has not built a SFF case, the one thing that sticks out to me is a concern about having enough room for the exhaust out the top.
The room for the intake is the same, but if I remember Gamers' Nexus experiments correctly, a 1" or 1.25" gap there is usually enough. I just don't know if the same holds true with the exhaust.
e: it does look pretty dang cool, though!

By Kibner Go To PostAs someone who has not built a SFF case, the one thing that sticks out to me is a concern about having enough room for the exhaust out the top.Well, the basic idea is to have most of the air exhaust through the fins of the two heatsinks, either by itself or rather with the help of fans. CPU side is taken care of, GPU side would require a bit of engineering / ducting. Also, I could always replace the under-top panel with mesh or have it off.
