Possibly. Kinda want the silver since it'll match all my nickle coated fittings and blocks. Was just saying to Kibner though, not sure what the parcel prices are like from UK to USA and vice versa.
How much you looking to get for them out of curiosity?

Let me get back to ya on it, because I dont know prices either. But I've been wanting to sell them for awhile for Doninators to get everything in one eco system.

Yeah I remember you mentioned them a while ago, I’ve considered them too but the prices in the UK are so inflated for Dominators and Trident Royals that I held off going for either.
Bog standard Corsair LPX can be had for £130 on a good day here, that’s for 32Gb/3200mhz. With some other brand 3600mhz kits for around the same. Then for the Trident Royals it’s £240 through Amazon for 32Gb/3200mhz or £200 for 16Gb/3600mhz. Dominator Platinums are £200 for 32Gb/3200mhz.
Hard as fuck to find either in 32Gb/3600mhz from any UK sellers.
ram prices suck. is 3200mhz good enough for ryzen processors? i think some people oc their sticks or something?
maybe i'll just wait for ddr5 since it's probably not that far off?

On the whole, RAM is cheap af currently. 3200mhz is fine tho, 3600mhz for the 3000 series is “ideal” but the difference in most cases is negligible
Yeah, I think the technical max without weird things happening is 3733: https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd/ryzen-3000-memory-overclocking-sweet-spot
[...]
“The max speed we’ve gotten it stably is about 1,800MHz, a little bit over 1,800MHz. It’s tied two-to-one to the memory clock, so that’s why 3,733MHz is the max frequency that you can get in that link. Once you go beyond that our software decouples them so that that GMI link won’t crash.”
That means there’s a hard switch during memory overclocking, so once the software stack see it hit that 3,733MHz mark it then decouples the Infinity Fabric and the actual memory latency drops quite considerably.
“If you’re looking to optimize your latency,” says Kirsch, “you want that GMI link talking as fast as it can, because you’re moving from the CPU core, outside your memory controller, and you gotta cross that link.
“So the lowest memory latencies you’re going to get, in the reasonable memory overclock world, is 3,733MHz. When you guys test it, we recommend using the 3,600MHz, with CL 16 or lower – if you can get it lower than that stable it’s great – because that’s going to give you the optimal memory latency. It’s also going to give you a very good price performance module. But with that said, if you’re an enthusiast and you want your high clock speeds, we do allow a path for that”

And on that note, Patriot have some really well priced DDR4 at 3600mhz+ currently.

The timings are a tad loose, but I think 3600mhz at CL17 is still faster than 3200mhz at CL14. Not sure how well they’d clock with higher voltages, but it’s worth a shot at trying 1.45v at 16-18-18-XX.
There’s also a 3733mhz kit, but it’s about 30 quid more than the 3600mhz kit.
Never been one to get into memory OC though. For the most part, seems like minimals gains for a lot of effort/time once you get into optimising specific timings beyond the first 4.

Yeah, anytime I make a change to any memory setting, I always leave the Karhu RAM Test running overnight before committing to it.
I used the Ryzen DRAM calculator tool to OC for a few months last year and had no issues that I could see (bumped from 2800 Mhz C16 to 3200 Mhz C14 -Hynix die). Ran Memtest for 24 hours with no errors. Gained about 3-5 frames tops on games like AC Odyssey, but the most noticeable gains were in the form of slightly reduced frame times that help with stutters.
I mainly did it to see if I could, but then I updated the BIOS and couldn't be bothered to do it again. It's not that time consuming, the only sketchy thing is being careful about the voltages, specifically the SOC Voltage, because apparently some boards/software don't report true values (Gigabytes mostly), and bumping it beyond the safe limit will kill your board.
I think for my case it kinda made a difference, because Ryzen processors love faster RAM, and I had to settle for slow RAM at the time because I bought when prices were through the roof. I think it makes sense only when you are also OCing your GPU and CPU to push every bit of performance out of your computer or when you have older hardware like me.

My gf has been complaining about the lack of memory in her 970 and I am thinking of getting her a 1660ti for Valentine's Day. Is there another comparable card I should be looking at, instead?
e: she does have a gsync monitor
e: she does have a gsync monitor
1660ti is a bit in a tough position so it depends on pricing but you might as well either save a bit and get the 1660 Super or upgrade to the RTX 2060.
There is a big enough price difference between the 2060 and 1660ti that I have to think hard about it.
By diehard Go To PostIsn't the 1660ti $275 and the 2060 $299?I saw 260 and 320. Granted, I didn't look at pc part picker like I should have.
Used pcpartpicker.com and the cheapest for both (without using mail in rebates) is 260 and 320. I also get 5% off from Amazon so I can get them for nearly $15 cheaper than those prices, too.

Keep an eye out for the $280 model EVGA 2060KO. Orrrrr give her your 1070 and join the Slaent elite

By diehard Go To Postjust curious, have you seen something use more than 3.5GB of VRAM on that 970?Monster Hunter World, our current main game.
If she got this far on a 970, a the cheaper of the two would serve her well. I'd just go with that tbh.

I couple of different games have CTD'd on me the last couple of weeks. I ran Memtest86 twice to cross out a RAM issue but I'm stuck now on what it could be. I reinstalled Windows, no OC on GPU or CPU, and ran games from two different drives. All parts are new except for the power supply. I've checked to see if there are any overvoltage or undervoltage problems but everything seems to be fine.

Why can't I modify the UpdateOrchestrator task? Keeps waking my computer up at 00:18 and when I try to change it it asks for a username and password and mine aren't accepted.

What is the best, most stable game I could bench to make sure that it's not all just a huge coincidence these games all happen to be broken? I really want to be sure it's not faulty hardware.

Which test is the best at detecting hardware errors?
CPU:OCCT, Large data set, with Auto number of threads is, hands-down, what will detect CPU/Memory/Motherboard stability issues faster. Use GPU:3D in fullscreen mode for GPU testing, GPU:Memtest for testing your Graphic card's Memory, and Power supply for testing your PSU. Most errors are detected within the first 5 minutes. However, i recommend doing at least a 1 hour long test just to be sure.

Video brought back memories. Went back to gaf and found the "Fastest PC" thread.
Me and Hawk were battling it out for the fastest SLI setup, the others above us were tri gpu setups. His CPU was clocked 100mhz faster, maybe that's why he was able to edge me out.
I miss SLI ;_;
My Ryzen 5 3600 is gonna be delivered tomorrow. I bought another SSD, too, just so I can have no moving parts in this new build.
That sweet new build smell.

Sold them. I always flip the previous gen cards. Except for my 1060. I've got that back in its box, in the closet.
Just saw a Linus video on this, and apart from it being ugly as sin, it's pretty interesting reading over the spec sheet. Seems to be the only way to get a monoblock for an ITX AM4 board (Asus X470/B450).

Silly question, but anyone know if you can plug one monitor USB hub into another monitor and then plug the second monitor’s USB hub into the PC?
Rejigging my cables here, and the USB A to B cables are too short to go all the way from the left side monitor to the PC on the far right.

By HonestVapes Go To PostSilly question, but anyone know if you can plug one monitor USB hub into another monitor and then plug the second monitor’s USB hub into the PC?I don't see why not. Your speeds will be limited to the single slowest speed hub in the chain, though. I don't think there would be an issue with power draw but if there is, Tripp Lite make excellent powered USB hubs (they are a very solid UPS company, primarily). https://www.tripplite.com/products/usb-firewire-cables-hubs-switches~3-17
