Got a bluescreen telling me my bcd was gone or missing files but nothing I did fixed it so I decided to just format the drive to do a clean install. I tried to install on the same drive, which is m.2 nvme, but it wouldn't let me so i had to put it on another drive which worked but windows wasn't picking up the original drive. Guess what windows is picking up now? Yeah, not sure I can be arsed with installing shit again.

Anybody knowledgeable on AMD GPU fuckery here?
Bought that ex-mnjng card, used atiflash to change the BIOS back to the original BIOS. Ran that Radeon software to install the drivers for the card but it hasn’t seemed to work.
Device manager is giving my a Code 43 error on the GPU and it isn’t showing up on task manager.
It is however still running the video output fine, albeit in a 1995 resolution, still showing up in GPU-Z, HWinfo and so on.

Got it working. Didn’t flash correctly the first time. Live and learn yo.
Afterwards, I ran CB20 and CB15 and at completely stock settings the R5 1500X crashed part way through both tests. Updated the BIOS and it passes both without crashing.
Seemed odd that a BIOS update fixed it since it was already updated when I used the motherboard a while ago and didn’t crash with a 1600, but that same BIOS causes the 1500X to crash.
AMD things I guess

Impressions of a freshly-baked dual monitor owner after a week of casual tinkering.
As I imagined, having an ultrawide as my primary monitor, I have no real need for a second screen at the desktop level. I've yet to explore and properly bite into dat 2 monitors lyfe, but I can already tell that the 25-incher is going to become a glorified screensaver.
1080p is a shockingly low resolution, holy inferno. Works fine for fps gaming, but I can't imagine having a 25" 1080p as my primary screen.
I can definitely tell the difference in smoothness and general feel between the 100hz ultrawide and the 240hz Acer. There's less motion blurring, especially with ULMB turned on. I was worried the latter would annihilate the monitor's brightness, but it's perfectly fine. In fact, even with ULMB set to extreme it's a tad brighter than what I'd normally have it set to (as you might know, you can't change the brightness when ULMB is active).
On the other hand, the colours and contrast of TN are fucking shite compared to an IPS panel. I've had to turn up the digital vibrance in Nvidia Control Panel to get the colours to more or less match what I was used to on the X34A when playing Apex, because it was seriously throwing me off. And I'll have to fool around with some of the other settings in the monitor's menu to try and get the contrast up a bit. TN ain't great, who knew.
Speaking of Apex, I couldn't get it to run on the 25" Acer in full-screen. It would only display on the 34" with both monitors active, which is just as well. Windows key + P makes switching between monitor configurations a breeze. When I want to play I simply pull the 240hz monitor down in front of the ultrawide and switch to the 1-monitor / "PC screen only" mode.
All in all I'd say I'm moderately happy with my stacked setup. Still, the moment someone released a 38" 200hz+ IPS ultrawide, I'm ditching it.

By Wahabipapangus Go To PostZabo m8 you always need a secondary vertical twitter screenDo I though? I basically already have it inside the ultrawide space.
If you are not liking the colors, maybe invest in a colorimeter. The one I use is the Colormunki Display, which appears to have been replaced with the i1Display Studio. I don't use the software it comes with for calibration, however. I use DisplayCAL.
If you go this route, it is important to set all your software display changes (like the Nvidia digital vibrance) to default. There is also a gamma flush color profile that comes with the software that can be used to reset gamma levels and possibly some other things. When doing the actual calibration, stick to using the controls on the monitor itself as much as possible.
Once you get everything installed and working, it takes about 15-30 minutes per monitor to run the calibration. The higher end IPS monitors today don't really need this as much since the factory tune they come with out the box is normally pretty good.

I've used colorimeters in the past, borrowed one to calibrate the Predator with DisplayCAL, actually. I'll definitely invest in one sooner rather than later, however I find that a proper ICC color profile + monitor settings usually get you in enough of a ballpark that you don't really have to do it yourself. Unless you need it for professional use, of course, in which case you're probably not using a cheap TN panel to begin with.
I'm pretty happy with how the colors look now, but there's no avoiding the fact that this is rather mediocre TN panel with all that it entails.

Cool beans!
And, yeah, I'm not sure if I could ever go back to using a TN for the same reasons it bothers you. :(

I saw recently that there’s an Alienware IPS 240hz monitor. I think it’s available now.
You fucked it with that Acer, Zabo.

It's a 27" with a resolution of 1920x1080. I'm willing to make some concessions for that ultimate gaming performance, but I'm not an animal.
Oh yeah, the 27 inch is out now but the 24.5inch is coming soon. You're just straining your eyes with a smaller screen anyway. Ye fuked it, Zabo.

It is the will of the PC gamer.
Drove 40 min to go pick up my ultra wide. Got there (it's this warehouse kind of store) and there was at least 100 people waiting. Turned out their systems were down and they had been waiting a long time. So I eventually after about 30 min decided to say fuck it, I am not waiting here forever. Is this Gods way of telling me to get the super ultra wide instead? Or is it just me slowly realizing Denmark is the third world.
By Smokey Go To Post27" 1080p ffs zabosanMy second monitor is a 26" or 27" 1200p monitor from 10 or 11 years ago. It was the first "affordable" ($700 at the time I bought it, I think) gaming-grade IPS panel. Had less than 16ms input lag!

Besides, IPS can't yet match TN response times, which was the other reason I went with the Acer.
I'm currently running the supreme trifecta: 240hz + ULMB (set to extreme) + overdrive (set to extreme). Pure butter.
Plus in fairness, the TN panel in the Alienware isn’t that bad. Like even next to the X27, it looks fine despite being at a slight angle, and looks pretty good head on. My only gripe is that 1080p looks dogshit to me now.
It's ... the same panel. It's a perfectly fine TN monitor, honestly, I was just comparing it to the X34A.
Almost done.
