By HoboVapes Go To PostSmokey, did you ever get your 9900K to 5Ghz stable?
No. I mean to reapply new paste and try again but I got lazy lol
I can relate, still haven't gotten around to updating my 2080Ti VBIOS either. Locked to to a 280-290w power limit, which holds back my clockspeeds a fair bit. I reckon I could probably get 2200mhz out of it with the 360w or 380w VBIOSs available.
Is it worth an extra 80w-100w of power draw though for a measily 200mhz?

I jumped in breh whatchu mean
look at adam feeling good now that he's back on team blue
in unrelated news, i decided to get a 50ft cat 6 cable and just run it from my gig att box. couldn't bring myself to drop $200+ on a standalone router. feels good. Back to getting ~900/~900 again on my PC. cable is running along the baseboard on the floor, and i got it in the same color. going to get something to keep it in place and as out of the way as possible.

Jumped out the window maybe.
I finally cracked Adam's GPU score and got no play off either of you.

I actually have a Sony CRT from decades ago when ya mans had a Dell PC with a Geforce 3 in it
Think it might be at my moms in the garage somewhere..

I have the one that came with my HP Brio somewhere at my grandparent's house (the first computer I owned). Don't know if it still works. I could never afford a fancy flat CRT monitor unfortunately.
By Zabojnik Go To PostThrew one out just the other day, probably still worked too. No fucks given. No looking back.
lol
Finally found some time & will to continue working on my setup.
G933 charging station is done, made another hole / grommet to route the magnetic usb cable, fixed the dock to the table with the always excellent 3M command strips, so it doesn't get pulled alongside the headset when I pick it up. Will probably replace the G933 sticker with something a little less conspicuous and extreme gamer-y though. Hardly a design masterpiece, but it gets the job done.
Also completed work on the VESA adapter for the 240hz Acer. Hopefully the tension of the second AmazonBasics arm I bought can be tuned so that it will make moving the monitor up and down in front of the ultrawide a breeze. I have my doubts about it, but maybe, just maybe. Will paint it black and come up a cover of sorts for the part that's sticking up from behind the monitor once the arm is mounted to the wall and I'm happy with it.
Still a ways to go with the container-of-all-things-that-go-under-the-monitor. All the parts are printed, top cover has been assembled (cutouts from left to right: wireless guitar receiver, audio interface, usb hub, echo dot). Turns out permanently gluing PLA plastic isn't as trivial a task as I imagined. Super glue and acetone have both failed me, hopefully this two-part epoxy adhesive I used gets it done.

Definitely let me know what you think about that AmazonBasics monitor arm.
e: i guess super glue isn't able to melt PVA plastic. that's good to know

By Kibner Go To PostDefinitely let me know what you think about that AmazonBasics monitor arm.I've been using the AmazonBasics wall-mountable arm for 2 years now with the X34A and I've had zero complaints, but I've also hardly ever moved the monitor. As far as set and forget goes, it performs perfectly. It's pretty much a rebranded Ergotron LX. The true test will be seeing how smoothly I can get it to move with the 240hz. I suspect that even with the tension set so that it barely holds the monitor in place, moving it around won't be nearly as effortless as what you'd get with a $$$ higher-end arm, such as the Ergotron LX (HD) sit-stand. Look at this shit, you can feel the butter.
By Kibner Go To Poste: i guess super glue isn't able to melt PVA plastic. that's good to knowI think it depends on the PLA plastic, as not all are created equal. And it's not that it doesn't melt it ... it just doesn't create nearly as strong a bond as I was hoping for. I also tried Ravell's Contacta, which is another welding glue and that kinda worked as well, but the parts I've tested it on came apart way too easily. I'm sure it's perfectly fine for figurines and models and stuff, but I need something that will withstand a fair bit of force.
PVA on the other hand is water-soluble, so I'd imagine that any kind of dissolving glue would burn right through it.

By Adam Go To PostTotal score breh, ijsYou want a war?
By melting plastic, I meant that is just how super glue melts the surfaces it is affixed to and fuses them together to create the bond. If it can't melt the plastic it is trying to glue together, it just won't work.

I'm still debating whether I need a wrist rest for the Ducky 2 SF.
Leaning towards yes. I'd like to get something nice and to size, but might just model and print one.

I believe it was brotha Kib who mentioned some nice wrist rests from one company or another. They were a bit too bourgeois for my taste though.
Yeah, it was from a brand called Castle, iirc. Leather wristpads in a couple different colors. Stiff but still some give. I liked them a lot and they weren't too expensive.
I love it when a plan comes together.
Still need to fine tune the tension, route the cables and glue some foam to the aluminium brackets on the back side of the monitor to avoid scratching / banging the ultrawide, but I'm already very, very happy with how it the whole thing fell into place.
Moving the screen up and down is about as quick and effortless as I could've hoped. One thing I didn't account for is how little these monitor arms (basically all of them, I checked) allow for tilting the monitor down. You can tilt it up by like 70Ā°, but only about 5Ā° down, which is less than what I was hoping for. As far as I can tell the mechanism allows for the same amount of tilting up and down, which I should be able to make it do by filing down the two metal stoppers on the bottom of the tilting joint. Either that or I'll just move both screens a bit further away from me.
