21:9 is perfect for gaming i think, super ultrawides take things a bit too far but could be interesting for productivity. it's not like i've actually tried a super ultrawide in person, but i'd imagine panning that much width would be a pain in games. biggest turn off was the 1080 pixel height tho, i'd rather get the x34p even at the same price
it's 5120x1440
but i am still debating if just to get an ultra wide. biggest problem is the alienware is quite a bit more expensive than the alternatives, and I absolutely hate the look of X34P. Could mostly be fixed with a monitor arm though I guess.

By HoboVapes Go To PostI'm surprised how far the 1070 has fallen.I've had to lower some settings I'd rather not when I upgraded to 1440p, but still not enough to want to shell out for another GPU. Maybe the super/ti version of the next $400 GPU from Nvidia will be enough to get me to upgrade.
By diehard Go To PostGiving this new monitor thing another shot.. ordered the Alienware AW3420DWOur ranks are growing. There are dozens of us! Soon we'll reach 1% on Steam's hardware survey and then ...
Moved yesterday. Got rid of my old, long desk. Using a stand in that's much smaller. As a result, I'm probably going to look for a Tenkeyless keyboard. Also having to use my motherboard's wifi due to where the box from ATT is situated in my new spot. The PG27UQ is a little large for this temporary desk, but I'm sure I'll adjust. No UW in the future for me :(
By Zabojnik Go To PostOur ranks are growing. There are dozens of us! Soon we'll reach 1% on Steam's hardware survey and then …I saw a guy play fortnite with those wide monitors, are the sides always stretched and blurry like that or is that a fortnite issue?
Some (especially competitive games) arent too happy about ever increasing FOV, due to the obvious advantage it can give, so probably that. Isnt always like that, no.

By Kibner Go To PostWhat TKL boards are you looking at?
Just ordered the new Logitech Pro for pickup at Microcenter.
By Wahabipapangus Go To PostGet a powerline adapter, smokey. works surprisingly well in most cases and are cheap.
Eh. I tried them in the past, and it wasn't so great. Maybe they've improved?
No idea if the tech really improved, but it does depend on the wiring in the house. could be that your old home was just not well suited for it. i dont know. The 2 times I had to use it, it has been great. Had about 15% speed loss, but it was completely stable unlike wireless.
Ended up getting the Edifier S350DB on sale. Just hooked them up and must say I am surprised by the quality, for the rather cheap price.

Not the best looking, but they do put out good sound for the price.
why is core 4 at 89% at idle, and 36 Watts power usage?
idle temps don't actually mean much though, what does it do under load?

Uh, I dunno why that core is being used?
By diehard Go To Postat the time of the screenshot your cpu usage was at 12%, was it really idle? check task manager?
Oh, was running a couple apps like Spotify and Firefox.
Edit: there's a process called IAStorDataSvc using 9-10% CPU process, wtf
By diehard Go To Postthats an Intel RST service, maybe try making sure you have the newest Intel storage drivers?
I did a fresh install of the drivers. Do I need the service?
If you aren't using any Intel RAID features and can't seem to get the CPU usage to go down.. yeah i don't think it will be a problem to just disable that service.

Cool. Just using the storage space on windows 10 to raid.
What to use to stress?
There's 2 methods of stress testing, doing the most stressful thing you will actually use your computer for or using a power virus to see the absolutely worst case scenario (but really not very realistic). IntelBurnTest will heat up your CPU like almost nothing else, and Prime95 is a common go-to that will use AVX. I think some in here use OCCT also...
By Adam Go To PostCool. Just using the storage space on windows 10 to raid.Aida64's stability test will do. Unless you're overclocking and need to stress test the shit out of the CPU, as die said.

He has a 9900ks , and is already at 5ghz. Would be curious to see what the temps are like under load.
To begin my post I'd like to say i've always been a console pleb and also a macbook pleb. Hoping to start a new job next week, so I'm hoping to get a new pc laptop. Saw this one for sale and was wondering if it's a decent buy? I don't have enough room in my house for a desktop and would much rather have a laptop that I could use for work and home. I also do quite a bit of photo editing and some slight video editing.

i don’t know about that laptop in particular, but I’d recommend seeing if there’s a review of it on Hardware Unboxed and/or Jarrod’s Tech on YT.

I've used my 2011 macbook, and it still does most of what I need but figured I'd upgrade since the new job will require some Windows-only based programs.
By diehard Go To PostIs the new 16 inch Macbook Pro in your budget range? No.
By FootFungus Go To PostNo.Dang. That MSI does look pretty nice.
It might be a bit late now but you can find some pretty killer deals on XPS 15 / Precision 5000 series if you troll slickdeals, a GTX 1650 or Quadro P1000 would be totally fine for what you want.
Picked up the logitech pro 10keyless. After 2 years on the g613 I'm byke to wired baby. Looking forward to seeing how much smaller it is on the new desk, ha. Also has logis new gx blues which are supposed to e very close to cherrys.

Indeed. Went on down to Microcenter and walked out with it. Ezpz. Already using the Powerplay mat and the G703. Like to keep things in the same software suite.
So much more space now. Keys are proper clicky no more Romer BS. Feels good.
e- The G613 really was a big bitch, lmao

TKL Keyboards are for tax evaders.
I could never tbh, but then again I'm just happy with my crappy HyperX that came with a free headset.

I would find a Logitech coupon in my email that's good for 25% off, after I bought the keyboard from the store. Looking at about a $35 difference, and that includes tax and free shipping too...Might just go ahead and take it back tomorrow and get the savings.
