By Batong Go To PostWut, price is one of the things it got going for it tbh which at only $50 more than the high end steam deck is much better performance wise. Sure you can get the 400 steam deck one but would have to lash out for storage then too.
SD cards are cheap. I have a 64GB Deck and a 512GB SD card. Storage space/speed really hasn’t been an issue, and the card was only £30.
The 512GB Steam Deck is a meme in my eyes. It’s £220 more than the 64GB model for the extra storage and an anti glare coating on the screen.
I understand some people would never want to open up their devices, but a 1TB 2230 SSD can be had for £100, brand new.
I was going to complain about what a pain it would be to update our images and boot environments at work but that article sums it up pretty well
4080 FE's are in stock on nvidia.com if anyone wants one.
Looks like the 4090's sold out again... I used to want one but I guess at this point I'll wait for the 5090.

Rumor going around they are going to be releasing some 16GB version of their cards, I think 4060ti (lol) and maybe a 4070/ti version with a different board.
Wonder how widely available these will be

I haven't mentioned it in a while, but, man, I'm so glad I got this little finger-pushed vertical mouse. I only use it for work, but it leaves my wrist and arm rested for when/if I want to use a regular mouse for games later on.
e: it's the UK's own DXT Wireless mouse: https://www.dxtmouse.com/ I have the older DXT2 version (on the left in the pic below)
Their promo video: https://www.dxtmouse.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/10/dxtmouse3-overview.mp4
e2: fuck, I might actually buy the new version of it as it has a lot of new features

could get a good Gravel Bike for that money

By inky Go To PostIt only sounds reasonable because peeps now purchase $1k+ cards by the truckloadIt's really sad to see.
It's all about finding the right coping mechanism. I just received a 2k€ vacation bonus, but I'm pretending they only gave me 800€, while I somehow also got a 4080. "What do they expect me to book with 800€, a week in the caves of Postumia?! Stingy cunts."
It's an art.

Doesn't even strike me as as that big of an offer, although that'd be more true if his was a more typical 1-5 employees YT operation with far, far less expenses. Must've been tempting to just cash out and leave to someone else the headache and stress of caring for the livelihood of ~100 people.
Sounds like a very reasonable and healthy change, provided he can actually manage to stay uninvolved in the day to day business side of things.
Good guy Linus.

I don't know how much his other businesses make, don't know how many 10m+ YT channel have 80+ employees but it seemed an interesting offer, especially because he's looked burned out of managing all that hassle for years now. 60% cash/40% equity maybe makes it a bit different.
it's just whew because how he's managed to grow it from making short videos for a computer parts retailer. Always amazed at that.

There are things you can fill your life up with when you have $100m which aren't turning up to your job every day. I'd take the money and quit in a heart beat.
Turn down $100,000,000 for the love of the game brehs
Reinvest that money into more millions lmao Linus trippin

I mean, he's always been the furthest thing from a money guy, and it's not like he doesn't have millions in his bank account already. He obviously loves his job and what he's build over the years, the lab business is just getting started ... I would probably do the same at this point.
Not like he can't sell, probably for more, later on.

By reilo Go To PostHe can sell and still do the shit he loves wtfHe'd probably just end up building another company. Evidently that's all he cares about.
And given he has a proven track record, he can get funding for that easily and have $100mil that's growing to $200mil in the bank account easily. Probably even negotiate himself a nice founder 50+1 scenario where if he gets bought he gets another $100mil!

I had the itch to upgrade something so I ordered some new ram and it showed up today. It’s G.skill ripjaws v like I had before but:
Before: 4x8gb 3200mhz CL14 1.35v
After: 2x16gb 4000mhz CL16 1.4v
Memtest86 is still running (1 pass out of 4 complete so far) and then I’ll go back into windows and run all my benchmarks to compare performance.
I had to remove the cpu cooler to access all the ram and the noctua thermal paste in my closet was 4 years old so I also ended up taking a quick trip to micro center to get a fresh tube. Hopefully that lowers the cpu a degree or two as well.
I think the fan in the back of my case is slowly going out (generic black Corsair fan from like 2012) but I’ll deal with that another day… I’ll probably just replace it with a noctua.

By Kibner Go To PostT30s are good alternatives to Noctua fans.Better* alternative.
I don’t know how I feel about paying £25-£30 a fan to use as a case fan though. Feels excessive for something I’d assume you’d never really use beyond 1200rpm. Most fans are going to be quiet enough at or below that range.
They're comparable in price and perf to the A12x25, but the Phanteks got crazy RPMs I don't think anyone would ever use.
By Laboured Go To PostAs expected, it definitely seems like people should get the 4090.How convenient.
Ahahaha.
It's even worse when you realize this might've been a 4070, if not for the 12gb 4080 debacle.

By Batong Go To PostYou saying I should throw my 4080 in the 🗑️?It's fine, it's just that the 4090 is the only "good value" card Nvidia has released this generation.
The 5000 series should be incredible. Too many unforced errors with the 4000 series except for the 4090 which is a beast. Wish I could SLI it.
By Zabojnik Go To PostAhahaha. It is truly incredible considering the raster performance of the 4070 says it's actually what the 4060ti should be, and the 4060 is using the die reserved for the 50 series.

Nvidia are beyond taking the piss with these cards.
By inky Go To Post5060 is gonna launch with 4gb if ram or something at this pace.4gb*
*Is actually 3.5GB + 0.5GB of slower memory
