Raw has been surprisingly good for a couple weeks now. Definitely feels like The Hurt Business getting back together is for a move to SmackDown, though.
AJ has wrestled two extremely good TV matches in consecutive weeks. One against Randy and last might against Riddle. But I just think what's the point? He's wrestled against these two so many times in singles and tag matches yet their feud never really develops further than that. It's just a treadmill at this stage.
I'll never complain about good matches, but I will complain about these guys being wasted. AJ is the best wrestler in the company and Riddle and Orton are up there too. Put them in singles feuds. WWE has an incredibly talented roster which they just don't seem interested in using properly.

By Lupercal Go To PostHaven't they done that match like 10 times now ?Yeah. Rehashing 3v3 stuff doesn’t bug me as much as singles though.
Feels like it.
They bringing back Hurt Biz just so they can go to SD and have something for Roman's cousins to do while he's beating Lashley
Finished watching Wrestling with Shadows today, having watched bits and pieces throughout my lunch break last week. Incredible documentary. Is Hart's book worth reading?
By Punished* Go To PostFinished watching Wrestling with Shadows today, having watched bits and pieces throughout my lunch break last week. Incredible documentary. Is Hart's book worth reading?Oh for sure. Bret is one of the few wrestlers who kept notes so he has an incredibly in-depth account of what was going on at the time. Plus he was actually sober and not fucked up on pills the whole time.
By DY_nasty Go To PostBret also protected Rock from clownshoes Shawn and Hunter and was the biggest cheerleader for Austin
Looks like Johnny Gargano is really leaving NXT. He was their biggest star so he'll have no shortage of opportunities elsewhere. There's still a chance that he re-signs with WWE Nd takes a main roster spot. He's apparently taking paternity leave and won't be back for a while at least.
I'm sure that if he goes to AEW he'd do well there. Only issue is that their main event scene is starting to become very crowded.

Reports coming out that Jeff Hardy has been released. Last weekend he was allegedly in an inebriated state during a house show match. He was tagged in and proceeded to just walk out if the arena through the crowd.
God, I feel so damn sorry for Jeff. He was one of my faves during my first few years watching and he just keeps falling off the wagon over and over.
I think it's pretty safe to say the guy should be retired at this point. His body is a complete wreck, but it's part and parcel of doing countless dives and ladder matches.

To keep that kind of stoneface at 22 with that much hype around your debut is pretty god damn impressive

RIP Jimmy Rave. Was a huge part of the early ROH era. Loved him and Prince Nana in the Embassy stable.
Hangman wrestled Bryan Danielson on AEW last night. Not seen the match yet but it's being raved about as a stone cold classic already.
Never understood the appeal of KO in AEW. Got plenty of better former indie guys that can throw superkicks and take dumb bumps. Shit's getting a little too bloated for one roster as it is.
also feel like they need to get behind Serena harder. They need top level women besides Britt and the Joshi of the month.

Yeah, Serena fit and back from injury should play a huge part, maybe even have some matches with Britt.
There's a lot of young female talent but you can tell they're still fairly new to it.

For a long time I though Styles was the best North American wrestler of his generation. But BD is making a huge push for that honour now.

Think Kyle was wasted as a singles guy on NXT. By the time they started pushing him he was already close to leaving.

AEW was litty in person. Crowd went nuts for KOR. I'm not familiar w/ him but my pops gave me the backstory on the Undisputed and all of that

Not familiar with the NXT run of his. Never watched NXT, all I know is he had a short run as uncool Kyle where he dressed like Orange Cassidy in NXT and got bad reviews for his mic work. I' m excited to see what he can do in AEW.
Just watched the Page-Danielson fight from Winter is Coming. Incredible sell on the buckshot lariat at the end. "It knocked him for a FREAKIN LOOP!"

Mic work is mediocre at best tho.
Massive AEW clusterfuck to finish off the year. Big Swole gave an interview saying the reason she left AEW was down to a lack of diversity on screen.
Tony Khan tweeted out that she was wrong, highlighted the diversity amongst executive level and the wrestling roster. Then he topped it off by saying he was happy to release her as she was a bad wrestler. This of course led to a massive online fight with accusations of racism.
FWIW I think AEW has been pretty good with diversity. They've had four women's champions in their history. Two have been Japanese, another of Native American and African American heritage, and the current champion is white.
What I don't like is people completely dismissing Swoles complaints. The fans see the front facing stuff on TV, but there could be genuine problems backstage with people of colour getting their ideas listened to by management.

I also think just narrowing down her comments to the lack of diversity part isn't fair, either, really. She had a lot to say about the lack of structure and writers, the placement of women on the shows, and yes, how they don't use black talent well. I think these are all things that are totally fair to say are issues with AEW and have been since the company started.
In general, I find that Khan's response here is gross and tactless, but very in keeping with who he is. Not even a few months ago, he was also very snide about criticisms about his women's division, too.
By rodeoclown Go To PostOh, the reddit threads on this are disgusting, with people handwaving away her critiques and fundamentally not understanding that people of color are not some huge monolith. This is fair. I found a better article which goes over everything Big Swole had to say about her time in AEW. It mentions the things you did above. I like that AEW wrestlers are in charge of their own promos. It makes things feel more genuine. But I think Swoles criticisms of that system are valid too. Some people struggle at this aspect and may find themselves marginalised and sliding down the card. There could be more done to help wrestlers in this regard. Not to the level of micro management which is present at WWE. But some pointers wouldn't go amiss.

And I agree that women in AEW, for a long time, were let down by bad decisions and structure at management level. Hikaru Shida carried the division for a long time while AEW tried and failed to build talents up as legitimate threats. This could well be the crux of Swoles argument about the pitching of ideas. It appears that Swole was uncomfortable about pitching ideas. And because of that fell down the card. But when everyone is struggling to do that surely your bookers have to step in?
There's no writers in a sense. Not everyone is comfortable writing their own things. Closed mouths don't get fed. That's exactly what that environment is. If you are shy and don't know how to write or are not creative, it's not going to work unless they want it to work for you. That's one of their biggest issues,"
He traded up bigtime ngl, but if a proposal/wedding is televised in wrestling, it's going to end quick.
I really don't 'get it' with Adam Page, so I'm kind of hoping Danielson just beats him for the title and leads to an eventual match against a face Keith Lee
Finished both nights of Wrestle Kingdom. First impression is that Okada is the best wrestler in the world. Put on two 5* classics in as many nights against Shingo and then Ospreay. Both matches will be hard to beat for MOTY. And we're only six days into it.
Next impression is New Japan really have been hit hard by the restrictions in place. Fans are advised not to shout or cheer and it really hurts the atmosphere in the arena and the flow of the match. Guys are beating the shit out of each other and all they get is polite applause. Although, there were definite cheers in both Okada matches. They were so good that the fans couldn't help it.

Yeah Fenix's injury was pretty grim but there's good news it's only dislocated atleast.
Jade looked like a star even though some small mishaps, Hanger V Dragon was awesome. JE vs LB was good, finish a but rushed but the injury did it I think.
