Ridley Scott's desire to turn the whole Alien Universe into an almost biblical epic is annoying, he is worse than George Lucas right now.
What is the ratio of good to bad stuff from the Alien franchise now?
By my quick count, there are 2 good films, 1 average, 3 shit (5 including AvP), a couple of decent games and countless terrible ones.

1 amazing film
1 very good film
2 interesting misfires
2 pieces of shit
james bond has got like 2 or 3 great ones and then millions of middling to shit ones
mcu is probably the most consistent series because they're all so consistently meh

Ridley Scott says the Alien franchise needs to get rid of the alien.
I can tell you've really thought this one through, Mr. Scott.

Bond mostly works because at the time of release the movies all have at least something to offer. I don't think you can build a movie around set-pieces like you used to, but even old bad Bonds have some cool stunts and chases.

Weren't there some allegations against Louis CK a couple years back too?

Paddington 2 was, just like its predecessor, an utter delight. So overwhelmingly silly and charming. Hugh Grant is fucking hilarious.
By HasphatsAnts Go To PostThor Ragnarok was delightfulThe best comedy of the year.
My coworker told me going in, "It's basically a comedy with action scenes set to Led Zeppelin at the beginning and end." I didn't believe him, but no, accurate. As advertised. There's a joke every like 30 seconds and they mostly land because Hemsworth and Goldblum have absolutely pitch perfect comic timing. Tessa Thompson isn't bad, either.
They made a good Thor movie! It only took them three tries!

By DY_nasty Go To Postalso the best hulk movieNo lies detected. Since he spends most of the movie as Hulk, it eliminates the problem that proper Hulk movies have where every it's a fucking drag every time Banner is on screen (which is most of the their respective runtimes).

I’m looking forward to this. Loved the first movie
Friends convinced me to see Thor and it was much better than I expected and up there with the best Marvel movies I've seen. Action scenes were actually fun and quick while the rest of the movie was consistently funny.
I did fall asleep during the first hour but I'm not sure if that was the movies fault or due to my lack of sleep. Probably a combination of both but I'll give it a pass on that.

Saw Master and Commander the other week, still can't get over how gorgeous it is. Just fucking gobsmacking.
Justice League is a perfectly fine comic book. Really fun watch and doesn't take itself too serious.
Speaking of fun and not taking itself seriously...
After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.
I didn't care for the classic heist movie double-crossing / twist, but overall I really enjoyed Lucky Logan. Judging from the trailer I was expecting it would be over the top bizarre, but nah, it was actually rather subdued. A solid 7 / 10.
I honestly wish Logan Lucky had another 30mins to it and some parts in the middle were cut down. It just felt like it ended right before it was gonna hit its apex and get into the really good stuff.

Excellent cast too. Adam driver needs to be in everything. And who the fuck knew after Step Up tatum would be so GOAT
By s y Go To PostThat looks like a parody posterIt's a movie based on Rampage, they have to play it as a parody or it will probably won't work at all.
By Moris Go To PostThe Killing of A Sacred Deer was weird as hell. I prefer The Lobster but its still pretty good.
Might watch that tomorrow before I watch Lady Bird

I just saw It.
I'm surprised at how good it was, went in expecting a bit of a shambles. Definitely reminded me of "monster" movies from the '80s.
Nailed the overall tone and the kids (especially the girl and that chubby boy) were fantastic.
Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise was... alright. But he's no Tim Curry.
