Yeah this will be strictly in my office / separate area. I won't be looking at it from any angle. My only concern is 43" is huge in an office type setup. Right now it's my PS4/X1s hooked into a HDMI box, that goes to my 23" ASUS monitor. Works perfectly, and the input lag/response time is amazing.
You might be better off getting a computer monitor for that size and distance. 42" is absolutely monstrous when you are like two feet from the screen.
I'd have to move some stuff around to accommodate. I wouldn't sit the same distance now as i do for my monitors.
Finding the right distance to sit from a TV is so important imo. For example, you'd never be able to keep track of everything going on screen especially in a competitive FPS if you sat too close. It'd be extremely detrimental and disorienting. I'd say 30" might be max for that type of setup if you're gaming on a computer desk.

2017+ looking promising
Received this today after my request to Lg support.
Good afternoon Matteo,
Thank you for your email query, I hope you are well today.
I have had a look into this further for you and I do apologise in regards to the issue. I can actually confirm after listening to the feedback we are going to release a software update to allow HDR in game mode. We are currently investigating this and hopefully this will be released shortly.

that doesn't surprise me
the question is what will the actual input lag value be in this HDR game mode

Forgot where I read it, but the tool used to read input lag on OLED doesn't work properly, and the company is waiting on LG to release the white paper. Something to that effect.
Kibner bless us with your knowledge

Sorry, Smokey. I was running late with work and errands today and then spent some time on that Gamer Tag app and didn't look anything up. Maybe another day.
I'm thinking my current set is going to last until it's not rare for high-end sets and other components to support 4k@120hz and 4:4:4 with 12-bit color.
It might be a while.
It might be a while.
Just watched it and their opinion pretty much lines up with how I feel , #2018.
Too many things and standards are not set. They did say if you are going to buy...the OLEDs and Sony's ZD series seem to be your best bet. Pocket busters tho.

Oh fuck
I got invited in a program where I can get employee pricing . Samsung is one of them. I can get a 65" KS8000 for 1,279. 65" K9000 for 1,674
shiiiiittttttttt

Yea that deal is on SD and people are providing workarounds to get non EPP's in on it via invites or something
I'm still a little concerned about lightbleed. Might head to bestbuy soon and see how the set looks in their darker showroom environment.
Kibner why haven't you provided pitch black room pics of the screen yet smh

lol
dat role reversal
Only bc of this discount
the artificial lighting to distract form the light bleed is hilarious
real life placebo attempt for hardware lmao

By Kibner Go To PostIs there any particular image you want me to use or is just a flat black screen ok?
Something with a wide screen aspect ratio from a bluray like the above pics as well as a logo screen like the microsoft studio one from above would be fine I'd think
Took pics from the camera on my BB Priv. I took a couple pics with local dimming on and off. The ones with local dimming off means that the backlight should be at an even level across the screen. A reminder that the KS8000 uses edge-lit local dimming as opposed to full-array.
Local Dimming on:

By Dark PhaZe Go To Postthats very good for edge lit, looks like it's a luck of the draw in terms of the panel thenThe only time I notice the deficiency is when I'm watching something with white subtitles. And even then, it is only the occasional scene. Like less than 30 seconds spread out over two or three scenes for a typical anime episode.
It's very hard to determine these things looking at phone camera pics, but it looks like the guy you originally posted has his brightness and/or backlight turned up way too damn much. Which is probably also exacerbating the light bleed issue.
For the screen shots I took, my brightness was properly calibrated for local dimming on. I would have needed to adjust it by 2-3 points out of 100 to get it right for when local dimming is turned off, but didn't bother for these pics. My backlight is set at either 12 or 13 out of 20 for most content, but is maxed out at 20 when watching HDR content like in that shot from The Tick.
For those who may not know, when displaying HDR, you typically want your display to have its backlight maxed out. If it isn't, it limits how bright brights can get. It's kind of weird and I wonder if there will eventually be a pair of min/max backlight settings for high-end HDR sets in the future.

By Dark PhaZe Go To PostI've seen enough to be fine with the KS if the price gets low enough I think. Black friday pls…
I doubt it's going to get much lower than the prices I posted yesterday, but wouldn't hurt to wait. Typically on BF it's non premium TVs, or specially made models for BF.
In was just thinking the same thing, but I don't see any. I was going to give them out. To be clear I'm talking about the T-Mobile PerksAtWork program, where Samsung is a part of that program and you get EPP. Is that what you're talking about.

yea
apparently once you're in you get invites
if so I think I'll nab the 65 inch version of the KS for the 1300...
rtings on some other shit right now:

what the fuk @ the variable input lag on the B6 OLED, you won't ever adjust to that sort of thing mentally

RTings really does some great work on testing these sets.
And, yeah, I'm lolling at that LG panel with the rolling input lag in HDR.

their recent firmware update apparently makes it worse btw
It seems that you're correct; and it went up by quite a bit. Rtings indicated their B6 on the last FW revision was cycling between 38ms and 54ms. HDTVTest's review of the latest firmware indicated that the B6 now cycles between 55ms and 71ms. That's a massive increase in input lag.

As well, several people are getting emails pretty much saying an HDR game mode fix won't be coming to the 2016 models. No way to tell if its because of hardware limitations. Really--these sets are too expensive and too new to be comfortable with how they are treating their newest lines. Seems like they got their money and are already onto the 2017 sets.
Plenty of reason to always wait for a new set--waiting for OLED to reduce input lag isn't one of them. They care about winning show room side by sides.
Like I said, there's probably a zero percent chance that Samsungs 2017 offering doesn't include an FALD option with HDR game mode and low input lag. That's something you can count on, and potentially better blacks.
For the Vizio line you can expect a fix to their Input 5 (I think) issue concerning HDR game mode, and maybe some better PC monitor support stuff.
Panasonic is releasing OLEDs next year, but its apparently looking to take the luxury mantle from LG, meaning even pricier.
LG has said QLED is going to be cheaper than OLED, so that might also be a nice option in 2017. We know nothing about input lag, but it should provide a better picture than LED.
