I really don't really mind the exchange, my data for your services. Im actually contributing the economy if you really think about it.
By reilo Go To PostI'm not lying. It feels like it's made by the same team that does Google Sheets. It's so cluttered. That's bullshit.
The virtual navigation bar at the bottom? Why? Get with gestures and free up that noise. It shrinks the entire UI because the notifications bar is so cluttered, too.
Push notifications are enabled by default rather than opt-in. That one infuriates me the most. It just contributes more to the noise. But it's the same philosophy Google uses to try and collect all your data at every step so they can resell your shit to advertisers.
The power of Android is choice. Obviously you know that, but still. I have a plethora of devices to choose from depending on what I value the most. Camera? Display? Size? Speed? Cost?
I chose a OnePlus 6T and next step is that I can choose how it will look and operate. I actually can choose if I want gestures, nav bar or whatever. I don't have to put up with the shit Apple has had for over 10 years. The. Same. Shit. In. Every. iOS. For. Several. Years. Yuck. I remeber having to jailbreak just to have some basic shit.
And complaining about noise and notifications? L O L. Every time I pick up an Apple device and see the notifications I want to puke. That shit is beyond stupid.

I was obviously also talking about the stock Android system developed by the biggest software company in the world on their own flagship device. Their output on their own operating system has been pretty damn subpar from the getgo.
And if you think Apple has "had the same shit for ten years" then you're LOL.
The notification system on Android is stupid as hell for one simple reason: default opt-in so you can get spammed to hell and back.
Also, when will Android get a good default messenger that has end-to-end encryption that isn't beholden to carriers whims?

Well, as I said. I have the power to get Android and still have it as I like if I don't like what Google is cooking. When it comes to iPhone I just need to swallow what Apple is feeding me.
When you get a notification that you don't want, you just pull down the notification bar and swipe left or right, press on the gear and voila.

Google's efforts in the tablet segment have been so sad that they are leaving the market all together and not making their own anymore.
And you're missing out on A LOT just on the phones, too. The entire app ecosystem still revolves around iOS and it hasn't changed in a decade since.
Despite Apple's much higher barrier of entry to get an app into the App Store, the quality of them is much higher given that the toolset is much much better. I outlined pretty well why that is last page. You'd think with Google's zero barrier of entry into the Play Store you'd see more apps, and you do, but they all exist to syphon user data for nefarious means or mine cryptocurrency under disguise.
And turning off notifications is still an extra step. The psychology is always there: users are less likely to waste effort to disable something later when it's on by default. It's the exact same reason iMessage is so popular. It's the exact same reason the EU has sued Microsoft, Google, and soon to be Apple over it. But that's a different topic π
why can't i access an app's settings from just the notification pulldown in Ios, or is that just an ipad thing?

By reilo Go To PostLOL no and still not a defaultOh yeah, I agree totally when it comes to the tablets. But I mean, people are hyping iPadOS because they are finally adding some BASIC shit, such as a proper download manager and file manager. And oh don't forget widgets on the home screen.... shit Android has had for yeeeears.

I will be waiting for to see what Microsoft does with Surface Pro 7 before deciding, but right now I'm leaning towards the iPas Pro because of the screen and performance and Apple finally fixing the OS.
I just installed an app and it asked me if I wanted the notifications on or off when I started it the first time, bit I can't remember if every app does that.
Not missing any app over here, seriously.
By s y ngmi Go To Postwhy can't i access an app's settings from just the notification pulldown in Ios, or is that just an ipad thing?Don't remind me. Apple's notification pulldown is the most useless shit ever. I can't even choose the wifi network there, you have to go to the settings to do that. Idiotic.
For notifications? You can. Swipe right and hit manage on the notification. It will give you options to deliver quietly, disable, or you can press Settings.
On iOS I know that you can take the user to specific app settings (Location, Notifications, etc) from the app directly, but you can't on Android (or at least you couldn't on older SDKs, not sure about SDK 29).

Relio come back to me when you can properly multi task on your phone, being able to only run one app at a time is down right infuriating (for years I thought this was like some limitation of all phones). I want to chance how my phone looks feels the whole experience can be customised to what I want, when I made the switch to the pixel 2 i felt like I'd be set free from some kind of Stockholm syndrome. Never say never but not sure why I'd ever go back to an iPhone other than maybe if I got an iMac just to stay in the ecosystem.
Wait what πππ
Kidjr, what are you on about? IOS can't multitask? Dude, what?
But don't fret, iOS will let you add custom fonts on IOS13 so all your Comic Sans dreams will come true.

If I have something playing on a page it will continue to play, YouTube will etc will all play and run in the background maybe I'm getting it confused but I'm pretty sure my iPhone didn't do that and if drove me bonkers
I have a 6T right now i still have no strong preference.
I miss iOS's ability to take an SMS for MFA and automatically add it to whatever app you are running, and it's "omni search" or whatever they call it now. If i want to change a setting on android, why cant i just use the main search bar.. why do i have to go to settings to search first?

By reilo Go To PostAnd then there's actually developing for Android. Not really, i use the whole intellij suit of apps every day, and it's memory hungry, but stable.
Android Studio is fine from an IDE perspective, but it's powered by IntelliJ. Anyone that's ever used an IntelliJ product knows that it will do one thing and consistently: eat up all your memory and crash your shit. I had it installed for 48 hours and my computer and it hard crashed 6 times in that span.
Okay, that's fine, I don't need to use Android Studio, I can use the CLI to run my emulators and load up apps using adb onto device. A bit of annoying instead of hitting CTRL+R but whatever.
Oh. That's just having the damn emulator open. This is beyond stupid. And I haven't even gotten into OS fragmentation which makes my life suck.

Why. Why do you put up with this.

Anyone here ever had their hdmi sound just stop working through the TV, all ports?

There was also a big Google Cloud Network outage the last two days that really caused some havoc. It took them a full 24 hours to resolve because a fibre cable went out.
Yeah, I read about it. Images are starting to appear on Facebook services but it's still not 100%.
It was interesting to see the tags appear like "Image may contain a girl and a tree".
