By Smokey Go To PostTrying out Vue, Elite package. There's definitely a dip in PQ from Directv feed to this. And it started stuttering immediately once my wife got on her computer and browsing. I have 250/10 on the connection, so I'm guessing it's my router? It's a backup that has surprisingly worked well once my primary went out during Harvey. I can't have the TV feed stuttering tho once light browsing is brought in..Probably. I rarely get stuttering or buffering and I am often using the Internet while watching Pels games on Vue.

Personally have no interest in Android unless it’s stock Android (Google’s vanilla version).

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. They also say the notch is ugly AF.
Pixel 2 stay winning

I've been on Pixel 2 XL since launch. Best phone I've had. I've had Galaxy's, LG V series. I won't buy another Android phone not made by Google.
By Smokey Go To PostPixel 2 stay winningI read a rumour that Google was going to go with a notch design for the next Pixel. I hope that rumour is false. I’d mind it less if they did it like the Essential Phone.

By giririsss Go To Postthe pixel 2 is … lacking even compared to an S8.It’s far from perfect but those kinds of phones are exactly what I’d want from Android.
I’m on iOS now again with the iPhone 8, but when I had my Pixel XL it was exactly what I wanted out of an Android experience, for the most part. Fast updates, great camera and Snapchat isn’t completely useless.
But it depends what you want, after owning the Galaxy S3 I never want another Samsung phone unless it has stock Android.

It also doesn't have any Samsung trash bloatness either. The camera is also better than the S8.
By Smokey Go To PostDirecTV bill has hit a point where it's time to really look at cutting it. Is YouTube TV any good? The front runner in my mind is Vue. I know Kibner streams, if anybody has any impressions of YouTube TV or Sling, I'd be grateful to hear it.YouTube can eat a dick no money for them. I don’t want to support future Logan Pauls
I've come across this article https://www.techhive.com/article/3211536/streaming-services/best-tv-streaming-services.html
It was updated yesterday. They say YouTube TV has dethroned Vue as the best option.
Vue is great, Sling is also good but what I hated about Sling was that I needed to sub to both packages (orange and blue) which I didn’t mind, but all the duplicate channels would show up twice. It’s a minor annoyance but as I’m trying to look for something to watch I’m seeing the same shit twice
Windows 10 S Changes in 2019
Windows 10 S is pretty bullshit.
The new S Mode will lock down any copy of Windows 10 so it can only run apps from the Microsoft Store, and will work the same way as the dedicated Windows 10 S operating system was built to do. Microsoft is planning a new “S Mode” for Windows 10 Home, Enterprise, and Pro versions of the operating system.
Windows 10 S is pretty bullshit.
*shrug* seems fine to me for the intended audience. Apparently, "S Mode" already exists for Windows 10, but is just disabled by default: All Settings -> Apps & Features -> Installing apps dropdown -> Allow apps from the Store only
As long as they keep pricing the same for non-S-Mode versions, I don't see a problem with it.

By joefu Go To PostIt's like a ChromeOS for Windows?Kinda. It's the full version of Windows, but you can only install apps from the Windows Store. If you want to do more, you can pay MS a fee to unlock it. This version of the OS is usually cheaper than the full version, so it is useful for keeping the prices competitive with devices that run on Chrome OS.

LG are almost officially in the notch game with their G7.
Guts will be in line with other Android flagships but esthetically it looks trash. Likely a May announcement with release soon after.

I'm sitting here on my V30 and I can't understand why they think bumping the corners of the screen up into the top bezel (it's a few mm) makes sense or looks pleasing. They're clearly following Apple. It's bizarre and somewhat pathetic.
I'm not going to pretend to understand tech companies rational, but they don't even need to release another phone so soon. Six months between flagships makes no sense and I can't imagine is cost effective.
Maybe it's a Qualcomm contract situation or something. They have to order and use the latest Snapdragon chips or they get left out.

Xiaomi CEO spooted wearing Mi Band 3
The screen looks bigger and curves over the edges, so it might be a touch screen this time around. Hopefully they improve notification support and maybe add NFC so it can be used with Google Pay.

Any leaks or whatnot on what Apple is supposed to announce at their conference? I was thinking of buying an iPad but I’m wondering if the new iPad is gonna be more like the iPhone X, I also want to buy a MacBook but figure if there’s gonna be a 2018 model I’d just get that.
Anyone have recommendations for wireless headphones? I have AirPods and Jaybird X2's, but AirPod sound quality definitely isn't as good as JayBird X2's. I'm open to in-ear or over the ear options -- really just looking for something with a bit better quality similar to my JayBird X2's

Google Assistant can make calls and book appointments for you
Tuesday's I/O keynote included a segment on Google Assistant with a slew of newly announced features, but none was as startling as its rollout of Google Duplex: a voice-powered service that pretends to be human and calls businesses on your behalf.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai played back two phone conversations that he alleged were 100-percent legitimate, in which Google's AI-driven voice service called real-world businesses and scheduled appointments based on a user's data. In both cases, voices that sounded decidedly more human and realistic than the default female Google Assistant voice used seemingly natural speech patterns. Phrases like "um" and a decidedly West Coast question-like lilt could be heard as Google Duplex confirmed both a salon appointment and a dinner reservation.
Google Assistant is super accurate on my phone too. In my view it's ahead of the other voice assistants.
I'm using the hey Google feature more and more lately for everything from dialing contacts to adding items to a grocery list. It's pretty useful.
LG even added a dedicated button to the side of their G7 (like Samsung did for Bixby) to use the feature, which is odd considering one of the benefits is doing so hands free or by just holding the home button for two seconds.
HTC U12 is the next major release sometime this month.

By joefu Go To PostUgh feeling itch to get a new phone. Anything good coming out soon?Sony XZ2 and LG G7 just released. They're the newest Android flagships but seem to be receiving modest reviews for just not being different enough. I'm very happy with the LG v30 I've had since November. Tmo finally updated yesterday to Oreo 8.0 which was nice. Took long enough.
HTC U12 is the next major release sometime this month.
I've been looking at the v30. I really liked my G6, which I gave my mom after i got it repaired. I side/downgraded to an essential phone when the vibration motor died in the G6 and sent it in to get fixed. I'm just super bored of the essential phone lol
so OG Pixels are really cheap now, about 180 for refurbs. Contemplating buying one just as a back up phone in future.
Mi Band 3 announced
Bigger screen with a higher resolution
Waterproof to 50m
20 day battery life
2 versions - 1 with NFC and 1 without
Around $30/£20 without NFC, $33/£23 with NFC

Part of the reason I like the Mi Band is the price. It isn't a big purchase so if you don't like it it isn't a big deal, you haven't paid hundreds for something you aren't going to use. The battery that lasts weeks is nice too, I wouldn't bother with it if it only lasted a couple of days.
some pixel 3 stuff has been leaked
looks to have a notch on the xl...but 2 front facing cameras. pixel 2 is still the top android phone and has the best camera out, so i'm probably not upgrading...
