i want one of these so bad, especially the diavolo one
The article does not mention it but the Only Watch auction is done every two years and all the proceeds go to charity that does research on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a genetic disorder that strikes children. Quite a charity donation!
I've barely used my Citizen, but I somehow REALLY like having it. I think I'm just fascinated by electro mechanical stuff in general like old pre-computer electro mechanical arcades.
Anyways, I might buy a GBA800-9A now. Just for lounging around and looking at.

Just found this thread. I've been into watches for literally like 2 weeks. I've done lots of study and really appreciate the horology and history of it all. Reminds me a lot of a my old hobby/obsession with cigars, so I'm sold.
I've been digging around the entry level market and losing my head about how much better the yanks have got it. We out here paying double for most things, if you can even find an official stockist of say, Orient.
Anyway my sort of vibe at the moment is to buy and sell in the used market. I've been tracking alot of auctions on ebay etc and got a pretty nice feel for the market. I'm not really expecting to own any of these for more than a month or 2 then sell them back for no loss/slight profit.
I'm currently rocking this, it's a quartz but hey, it's Swiss. It's a solid daily driver.

Been meaning to pull the trigger on a big purchase for a while now but something keeps stopping me ffs.

Nice KP? Dont you grow attached to your watches and end wanting to keep any of them? Especially if you know they're holding their value?

I've not really owned anything that I'm desperate to keep hold of but the time will come I'm sure. I enjoy them as I own them. Rocked this today. Rotary is an interesting/sad brand. Held in quite high regard in the UK but think all their watches are mostly Chinese made these days.
By KP Go To PostMy guy Kidjr out here stunting with the Royal Oak. My G.I'm also fairly new, but something is making it difficult for me to go used. I guess because it's so hard to find watches in good conditions.

I bought an Orient Bambino as my first automatic and now I have a Seiko SARB033 on my way. Excited as hell.

The Sarb is 38mm, I'm really not used to that size. The Bambino with its 41mm fits much better. Or maybe I'm just not used to the size.
Ugh, I absolutely love the aesthetics of this watch even though on every other standard it's a bad watch.

Where the Casio F91W-1 was a fairly simplistic timekeeping device, offering the most bare-bones features of a clock, stopwatch, alarm, and backlight, the Solid State Watch takes things a step further. It takes electronics of an F91W-1 and encases it entirely in a block of solid resin. There are no buttons, rendering the stopwatch, alarm, and backlight unusable. It cannot be set or changed for daylight saving time, nor can the battery be replaced once it dies (which CW&T estimates should be after about 10 years).
WHAT THE FUUUUCK
$160
Another Kickstarter scam lmao
By Gaby Go To PostSpeaking of, here's the watch I wear the most. Pretty versatile.I thought hard about getting the reference model but then I remembered that I don't want to get mugged.

These look pretty cool man, if you could get one would you get a leather/rubber strap AP?
Wife's birthday in 10 days and I know she was looking at Lori's Harveys watch a few months ago and I'm stuck on ideas however her first mechanical is not going to be AP llllooooolllll. She doesnt wear silver (I think she would do a bi metal rose or that chocolate brown) or straight gold so thinking of a rolex, but I dont know if its a gift for me or if she's really appreciate it.... I mean ofc she'd appreciate it, I'm sure just wants to run and show her friends etc but I dont know if she'll REALLY appreciate it.
But I really like this:

But probably too gawdy for her unless it was just for special occasions and I think she'd appreciate something she can wear everyday.
I've never really considered getting a Swatch before, but man....

Does anyone know of a watch that looks similar to this one but without the Ferrari branding?
And hopefully $200 or less?
e: i think i want something that is black with red accents and somewhat minimalistic

Any thoughts for when you had it? I am going back and forth on whether it is too far out there for me.
It was okay. Not too expensive so cost of ownership is pretty low. It's neat looking, has some visual flair to it, and the armband was okay. I believe mine wasn't adjustable so it was a bit too big on me.
If you like the way it looks, go for it!

Has anyone ever bought a piece for investment or at least thought about it? How did it work out for you in the end? I think I’m on the verge of doing something incredibly stupid.

Watches as investments seem like a crap shoot unless it’s like a super limited version
I’d buy a birkin bag if I were going to use it everyday ;)
The watches I had in mind are indeed limited pieces but I also want to wear and enjoy them. Then down the line pass them on when I feel that I’ve had my fill.
It’s more about the enjoyment than the profit for me but it would be icing on the cake if it works out in my favor.

Oh then go ahead haha I thought you were just gonna let it chill in a safety deposit box or something.
Watch prices are INSANE right now I really want the skeleton version of my royal oak in stainless steel but at that price I may aswell get a Richard Mille. But I don't feel I'm at the place to justify an RM with lots of other purchases and plans to scale the business. But I want a new watch. A conundrum.
The original or Skeleton? Mine has gone up quiet decent amount in value and honestly one of the best purchases I've ever made but that was quite a personal reason. However if your in the market for something and have the liquidity what else are you going to spend it on that isn't going depreciate and provide you with so much pleasure.
By Anya Taylor-Sad Go To PostThere's a new pilot watch collection from Farer Universal.I don’t wear watches but this looks good to me.

Just get something quality like a Patek, Vacheron Constatin, and A. Lange & Söhne at that price point.

I love them, I think they're beautiful (RM's) I dress down alot more these days so I like how versatile they can be.
Potentially a Nautilius, they're really nice and a classic so definitely an option.
Vacheron have nothing really in my price range I like but I'll take a look at Lange &, Sohne.
