By Gaby Go To PostSpeaking of, here's the watch I wear the most. Pretty versatile.I'm looking into getting my first automatic watch. How do you feel about the upkeep and just day to day use of it?
By Kibner Go To PostThat just made me realize; are lefty watches (i.e. meant for the opposite wrist) a thing?I'm a lefty. No such need. Having the crown on the right is not a problem, except if you mean to keep your watch on 24/7 which I would find uncomfortable. At that point I would feel weird having the crown towards my hand.
By Perfect Blue Go To PostI'm looking into getting my first automatic watch. How do you feel about the upkeep and just day to day use of it?Day to day? No upkeep. The only issue is if you want time to be super accurate. A really good watch will deviate 5 seconds a day. Entry-level watches will deviate 15 seconds a day. Vintage watches... closer to 40 seconds a day :) Once you have a collection of a handful, you'll set the time in the morning as you choose one that goes with your outfit (most power reserves empty themselves in 40 hours if they don't see movement). I don't mind the routine, it feels like lacing up. The fact that it's less acurate than quartz/internet makes you approach time differently.
Usually, watches need to be inspected every 10 years, but it's longer if you don't use the same daily.

By Epic Games Store Go To Postabsolutely. Not so easy to find, especially under 1000. They don't even have one whole page of them on chrono24.
lots of so called diver's watches have the crown on the left side.

Looking into the Tissot Everytime Swissmatic:
I doubt I will get a nice watch like any of these, but I enjoy learning about them. So thanks for this thread!
I've always been brutal with my watches. Not intentional either, just shit happens. Hit a rail going up stairs, hit a block wall on a job site, hit table in garage looking for tool etc etc. So I never saw a point in getting one that cost much because of that and I don't have multiple watches for different occasions. Looking for a one size fits all kinda thing. I would just ruin the thing if it was nice. From a layman's standpoint, the sapphire crystal face is the most important upgrade ever. My Stainless steel band is fucked up and even the metal face of my watch has dings and scratches in it. Though it's a stainless steel material so it's not that bad on the eyes. Glass though ... not a scratch on it. It's the longest I've ever owned a single watch.
I think most of the watches in the $500 and above range will have sapphire glass face though.
I was thinking about getting a nicer watch with my bonus money, but the people in my industry largely don't have those watches until they reach upper management. So I'll wait for the time being.

By Bold 2 in One Go To PostAre digital watches frown upon in these parts?Of course not. I have a smartwatch for gym days and a blingy Casio for when I shoot a rap video.

Best watch you can get is a Casio G Shock
I’ve had a g shock for surfing, but I’ve always found them to be too outdoorsy or aggressive. Not sure how I would describe it. I love that Hamilton Gabby posted

HOLY BATMAN, WOW WOW WOW some brands I think just arn't in my lane (as yet) and Patek is certainly one of them.
That is actually stunning, Tourbillion movement? Fuck I'm sweating just looking at those. Would literally be a dream for me to own one of those.
But stuff like Patek, Vacheron, Richard Millie are just in a whole other class.

Richard Mille watches look kind of silly to me, idk. I’m sure they are technically fire but I can’t get behind the looks. Also there’s not much allure in owning a watch from a company that doesn’t have as much history compared to others.
Definitely into that Patek, A. Lange & Söhne, and Vacheron though.

Affording those watches is one thing. Having the kind of life where you can wear them without fearing losing them? Might as well buy a new planet.

Even the sport ones, I do think alot of them are just over the top but should I ever be lucky enough would love one of these:

There's not too much that can't be buffed out replaced or repaired tbh.

I’m actually looking to buy my first luxury watch in the near future. Probably the Omega Railmaster.
It's probably the pleb in me talking but a 200K Porsche vs a 200K watch and I'm gonna take the Porsche all day.

Nah this G would have a 200K boat with the Porsche. Probably several boats before the watch lol

Watch no question, well... actually this question has become more complicated by whats happening in that segment of the car market.
Porsche GT3 RS is still more expensive second hand than new so gone on are the days when your loosing money on these things. But I'd still take the watch, I think.

Lovely lovely, so reserved but a nice presence about it. overstatements through being understated.
Although saying that I can feel the urge coming on to buss down one of my pieces. Not really sure I have the vibe to pull it off and not even sure where I would wear it, but some of them I've seen recently don't seem toooooooo tacky.

Also looking at the Hamilton khaki field watch and an Oris big crown.

Panari luminor is nice but I think that omega you posted is actually nicer for what you said (panari leans to much into the sports watch category in my opinion)

I'm looking for a field watch that I can use as my day to day beater. Leaning towards Hamilton and Stowa at the moment.
Love the look of the IWC Portugieser, but can’t ever justify spending 8 grand on a watch I can’t pull off 😓😓
By Spengo Go To PostI'm looking for a field watch that I can use as my day to day beater. Leaning towards Hamilton and Stowa at the moment. If you can find it, go for a Seiko Alpinist. If not then definitely the Hamilton Khaki Field is so dope.
I want the blue Alpinist but it was limited to like 100 pieces lol.
That’s a good suggestion and it’s still floating around for a decent price.
The Khaki Field 38mm Automatic felt really good on my wrist but I wasn’t crazy about the strap.

Stowa is a good call if you want the minimalist WW2 look with the blued hands.
Sinn 556 A if you want an evolution of the sort.
If you allow me a more excentric suggestion, the Farer GMT Lander 2.

Smart casual.
I’ll put it on the list.

Very little is worth 125K intrinsically. The subjective value of a vanity buy seems to depend on this to some extent. Beautiful watch though. I think my favorite on this page is still the Hamilton Gaby posted.
