I wonder If I went about my build back in 2017 differently, like bought a 7700K over a Ryzen 1600 and a 1080Ti over the 1080 if I would've bothered to upgrade further to a 9600K/9900K and 2080Ti.
My GTX 1080 is on eBay now btw, just in case anyone fancies it

Going to try and find it on the danish equivalent of ebay, if not possible sometime this month, it really is 9900k time.

9900KS is out next month.
Any word on if it's worth it yet? Money not a huge concern right now, but the point is i really dont want to wait much longer.
Also ordered the Be quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 rev 2. Think it looks ok and has some nice features.

I'm expecting it to turn out similar to the 8086K vs 8700K.
For just playing CS and aand your Anime sex games, a stock 9900K will be fine.
By Wahabipapangus Go To PostI want every single frame in csgo though. All the frames.Overclocking then? Wait for the KS. 5Ghz all core out of the box, will undoubtedly be binned better than a regular 9900K that you can currently buy so you should be able to push for 5.1Ghz-5.2Ghz or more depending on the lottery.
I'd still say 9900K though. 4.7Ghz all core out of the box is still plenty of frames.
In csgo, the 3900x for whatever reason actually matches 9900k (and slightly beats) csgo on low/medium settings and 1080p.

The power of GAME CACHE.
How accurate is the CS:GO benchmark compared to in game performance btw? Always wondered that since I only ever see the benchmark used and never numbers taken from gameplay.
I have no regrets with my 2700x. I'll probably upgrade once the last AM4 chip is released and get whatever one of the top CPU's is for that socket.
I'm still bound by my 1070 in games so it doesn't matter much right now, anyway. That will need upgrading far sooner. Shame that CPU's are advancing seemingly faster than GPU's right now.

Not all that accurate. But it shows off some of the taxing effects (smoke grenades especially, seeing as they have reworked them about 100 times to balance them out/make them fair), so it's pretty decent at still showing how it handles the worst case scenarios. But stability in a real match compared to that benchmark? Nah.
By diehard Go To Postis it weird for a Swedish company to be able to sell things in the US that much faster than the EU?This rustles my jimmies.

Never tried a 65% board, can't say I miss arrow keys on a 60% though. IJKL work well enough for me. Say for the delete and page keys, etc. Once you get used to the function layer on a 60% board, it all becomes really intuitive to use.
Fucking nice looking keyboard though, 5*
Fucking nice looking keyboard though, 5*
I reckon I could get used to either, the big decision is geting rid (or not) of num keys. I do like my arrow and function keys, which together amount to 99% of the keys I use 100% of the time. 65% looks significantly smaller than a tenkeyless, with basically no sacrifice in terms of usability, so, yeah.
Big fan of included wrist rests and big enter keys though (I imagine there will be a version with the latter, just like there is a big E One 2 Mini, but I'm not seeing it on the usual EU stores yet), so that's probably what would take the most tme getting used to. For some reason the idea of an added wrist rest doesn't appeal to me. Either the keyboard comes with one attached or I'm not using it. (Just another mental thing to overcome, I guess.)
Didn't think I'd consider another non-wireless keyboard, but big boy G613 has been seriously hindering my online fps enjoyment as of late.

I linked it earlier, but I can vouch for Castle wrist rests. Made of leather, firm cushioning, and a fairly sticky rubber backing to keep it in place.
It's just that I tend to move my keyboard around a bunch and don't want to deal with a detached wrist rest.
First keyboard world problem, I'm well aware. We all have our petite disorders.

Tenkeyless with a Ducky Pocket is my bread and butter.
There was some fuckery going on with the retailer in Germany so I cancelled my orders. Back to square one now. I might just get a Lian Li O11 and call it a day because I've run out of patience. That's an exaggeration actually.
By HottestVapes Go To PostI know the Ghost looks nice af, but all the QC issues put me off it off it completely. Top hats bending outwards, not matching the colours, etc. For such a premium priced case, absolutely unacceptable in my opinion.I have to admit that I can't resist the allure. Logic and price go out the window.
The Nouvolo Steck on the overhand, is cheaper, more easily available and despite the overall lesser build quality has fewer QC issues. Also fits a standard Noctuia L12S as standard without bending the heatpipes.
Sold out currently, but if you're interested in the Ghost S1, I'd really recommend this over it.
https://www.nouvolo.com/
Same config of top/bottom hat combo is a thing too, as well as included feet for better airflow from below. Tempered glass side panels are an option too, nice bonus if you ever plan to do a custom loop and want to see your parts.
Compared to the the Ghost, that's more expensive, harder to come by and has fewer configuration options, it's hard to recommend it.

I understand, m8. I’ve been through my fair share of ITX cases. Started with the cheapo Cougar QBX, moved on to a DAN V2, back to the QBX then an NCase V5.
Still want to build in more, really like the look of that new Lian Li TU150. That’d be my choice for a low noise air cooled build currently. Bit on the large size, but worth it for housing a D15 and Morpheus II/Accelero III or stock triple slot GPU.
Pretty happy with the NCase though. Perfect balance between size and cooling/noise for me.
On the plus side, I know what I'm going to be roughly spending and where I could cut corners to get the price down.
When is the TU150 supposed to go on sale anyway?

It’s up for pre order at OCUK, not sure on exact release though.
Edit: perfect example of the Ghost S1 not being worth it. Top hat not matching the case colour, not sitting flush with the side panel either and it costs over £250? No ta.

So I fell into the custom / artisanal / sff / whatever mechanical keyboards rabbit hole over the past 24 hours and I think I've made a huge mistake.
I don't think I'd go with something quite as audacious as some of these, but ... I'm in full GAS mode. Help.

By diehard Go To PostI don't understand all the keyboard love if im being honestI didn't either, but I'm starting to. For me wanting a smaller keyboard is primarily a size / hand positioning / comfort issue, but now that I've researched the whole custom keyboards craze a bit I can see why people are so into it. It's a chance to make something truly unique.
Nah, think I'll be fine with a premade 65% like the Ducky One 2 SF, which is 115€. I might eventually spend another 50€ on a premium coiled cable - though I'll almost certainly drill a hole in the desk and hide the cable completely - and another 50€ on a nice key caps set, but that's it.
Plus I think I can get ~80€ for my G613. No biggie.

I really recommend a hotswappable board of you want to fuck around with switch types tho. There’s a few different ones available to look into, I went with the GMMK for that reason. I can throw some Zealios in down the line if I want to for £50~. Board cost about £110, so not bad in terms of pricing or effort.
I wouldn’t recommend those pudding keycaps. They’re not great for typing if I'm honest and I wouldn't use them for gaming either.

I use them :3
They feel okay to me, about the same as the standard PBT caps I was already using. Not into the high end caps at all though. Ignorance truly is bliss.
I did a month on them before going back to my old keyset. I have the lower quality ABS variant and they don't really go well with Brown switches in my oppinion.

Maybe I've fucked myself with throwing away the box of my keyboard without properly testing it first.
The only super compact keyboard I have is the Happy Hacking Professional 2 I bought years and years ago to go with my laptop (though mine is black with printed keys):
It uses Topre switches which are far better than any Cherry or Cherry-like switch I have used for typing. There is also a Silent version of it out but I haven't needed to use so much that I find myself desiring to spend that much on a slightly upgraded version of my existing keyboard. Especially when Topre switches are already quieter than Cherry Browns, anyway.
e: i've gotten so used to the built-in shortcuts that it is easy to use the navigation keys: pinky for arrows, ring finger for page up/down, middle finger for home/end. I guess it's missing a shortcut for a numpad, but fuck it. Oh, there are also dip switches on the back that let you change the configuration for *Nix, Mac, and Windows.
e2: this keyboard is also where I found how useful having ctrl where caps lock usually is can be

Kibner, I’m proud of you. HHKB’s are the gear from what I’ve heard about them. You’re officially SFF certified now.

Oh, meant to post this, too. If anyone wants a larger keyboard with Topre switches, Realforce is a good line: https://hhkeyboard.us/realforce/
Both this and the HHKB are made by Fujitsu, so you can order from their site: https://fujitsuscannerstore.com/keyboards/
They even have some RGB ones for you degenerates!
