I know this line of products is aimed at businesses, but I still want one.
Fortinet 200e: $2,400 - full threat protection at gigabit speeds; SSL-VPN Throughput 900 Mbps
Fortinet 60e: $400 - full threat protection 200 Mbps; SSL-VPN Throughput 150 Mbps
There is no real need or use I have for them, but I want it all the same.

What kinda funk do these protect from? Could they say, protect a from user from a DDoS while playing a game for instance?
By HottestVapes Go To PostWhat kinda funk do these protect from? Could they say, protect from user from a DDoS while playing a game for instance?diehard would be better able to answer that question but, yeah, I think so. https://help.fortinet.com/fos50hlp/54/Content/FortiOS/fortigate-firewall-52/Inside%20FortiOS%20DoS%20Protection.htm
e: it can also scan packets coming in to see if any of them represent encrypted malware, so it can be some pretty hardcore protection
If so, and as expensive as it is, that could be pretty fucking useful. There’s been a rise in DDoS attacks in Rainbow Six lately, and I’d take great pleasure in fucking wrecking some script kiddies that try to knock me out of the server.
Could probably run a series on YouTube and make my money back through ad revenue too

By diehard Go To Post.. Rainbow Six is exposing your public IP to other players? It was a thing around 2 years ago, then got patched. Was also a problem in The Division from what I’ve heard.
There’s been a resurgence of it in the past two weeks or so, and I’m not sure the exact workings of it. I.e. if it’s player IP addresses being attacked or the server IP being attacked.
Either way, when it happens all players apart from the DDOSer have an abrupt game crash and lose connection to the server. The DDOSer seems to stay in the server and collect the W though so I’m assuming it’s got to be the players IPs?
Though I don’t get any issues with my net during/after the disconnect and game crashing.
Oh hey, Afterburner has an OC Scanner tool to oc your gpu clock. It doesn't appear to work on memory and support prior to 20xx cards is sketchy. But worth a try!
By Laboured Go To PostNice spot. Thanks! Figure I will post a few more specifics. A link to instructions on how to use it: https://www.msi.com/blog/get-a-free-performance-boost-with-afterburner-oc-scanner
My results:
Time to fuck around with memory, I guess.
Much as I prefer NV's products it's hilarious that they showed features on the RTX cards which they inferred weren't doable on older cards like this and playable ray tracing and both are now available on older cards.
Well, I ran into an issue when I hit "apply" in that it removed the curve and went back to default. I might see if I can save as a profile first? If not, getting the clock number from the auto-oc still helps.
I should probably note that my successful applying/saving was done after I had installed the latest version of Rivatuner Statistics Server: https://www.guru3d.com/files-get/rtss-rivatuner-statistics-server-download,15.html
I had to install it anyway because of a certificate issue preventing me from actually opening it after a recent Windows update. Not sure if that is key to getting the curve to apply/save properly or not.

I saved to a curve but then it changed my core to +75 when my average core was +52 from the scan. Wondering if I should correct to +52 or if the +75 somehow takes into account the curve it scanned?
Well, the curve is different, depending on the voltage level. At least, according to the blog post I linked. So it is probably fine?
This process repeats itself until the GPU fails to maintain stability under load. At that point, the last known stable clockspeed will be set as the maximum value. This process will repeat itself 4 times to cover 4 different Voltage levels. It does this because the OC Scanner algorithm uses the so-called Voltage/Frequency Curve. This curve works by matching the values of clockspeeds to corresponding values of voltage that can sustain those clockspeeds. By doing this you will get a curve where higher voltages are required to run at higher clockspeeds.
Scanning is the actual process described above where the algorithm will determine the highest stable frequency on 4 different voltage levels.
Also, you did make sure to check these two boxes, right?
And you know it did things right if, instead of a number, it reads "Curve" to the right of "Core Clock (MHz)".

that looks like an RC remote.
also, trying to find ways to reduce cost on building a new workstation from scratch.
yay or nay on refurbished RAM?
an which brand is recommended?

Ya to both. When it said curve I saved as a profile which seemed to auto bump it up to +75 which I was I thought it had fucked it up.

I have no idea about buying refurbished RAM. I assume the company you get them through runs them through a memory test to make sure they are still good. I just wouldn't want to OC with them.
By Laboured Go To PostYa to both. When it said curve I saved as a profile which seemed to auto bump it up to +75 which I was I thought it had fucked it up.I think it is working as intended. When it reaches different voltage levels (as temperatures allows, I assume), it will change that core clock speed. That average speed was at the four different voltages it tried. I wouldn't sweat it.
yeah not gonna OC.
the only time I'll OC is when there's a tight deadline and i need all time i can have for rendering.

What mouse you using instead?

I'm actually kind of still on the fence about it, to be honest. I wanna scratch that itch, but I fear I'm really going to miss some of the features of the G900, mainly the infinite scroll wheel.

I consider getting the G Pro Wireless often, then I rest my palm on the G305 and just think to myself "this ain't so bad".
I only really want to experience a lighter mouse, see if it makes any difference.
Btw, is G Hub still in beta?

I think so. I went back to regular LGS awhile ago.
I didn't realize the new Logitech MX518 was already out: https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/gaming-mice/mx518-gaming-mouse.html
Reading reviews, it seems like people have mixed feelings about the scroll wheel. I had the old MX518 but eventually upgraded to the G400s after it was became really worn out. The G400s has been perfection to me so I'll probably just keep what I've got.

$1900 I'm schleep
Although I could sell mine and maybe pay the difference 🤔
They’re charging $100 per 100mhz in clock speed. Shit ain’t worth it. Throw a WB on your EVGA card and you’ll get 2000-2100mhz out of it.

I mentioned it in another thread but you can get a 2 TB nvme ssd for $200 now. The Intel 660p. It's among the slowest nvme drives with the least endurance, but still faster than sata SSD's and lasts long enough for normal use.

After some months, what about you Vapes?
Had a small scare about a month ago with some dust clogging the fan up, but it was easily cleaned and it’s been an overall joy to use everyday.

How'd you know? Did the fan make an audible noise indicating there was a problem?
