Had to shelve the large mousepad. Couldn't fit in on the desk along with the monitor stand, but other than that, this set up is really coming together.
By Laboured Go To PostBizarrely disappointed that Vapes actually vapes.
By Smokey Go To PostVapes, is your 2080Ti choking in that case?I'll go ahead and forward him Gaming Jesus' address.
By Smokey Go To PostVapes, is your 2080Ti choking in that case?Nope. 75% max fan speed has it sitting in the 75-79c range. Pretty well designed case, the GPU pulls air directly from the side panel and it gets exhausted straight up and down.
By Facism Go To PostHave you ever vaped into the case to see how the airflow is
I actually have haha.
By HottestVapes Go To PostHopefully the cheaper cut-down model of the X27 will be out next year, it’s the one I was going to wait for. Still Gsync, 4K, 144hz but only HDR400 and there’s no FALD. Should still be a decent punt though.
Maybe next year. I just got a new monitor in June so... Gotta wait.
Slaent elite buying these amazing monitors, and here I am buying a viewsonic freesync 144hz monitor for 200 bucks lol.

By Adam Go To PostMaybe next year. I just got a new monitor in June so… Gotta wait.good choice
I'd buy a 34GK950G right now if the gsync 1.0 module didn't both limit the refresh rate to 100hz and disable any 10 bit color options
putting all my faith in LG's 38” 3840×1600 144Hz 1ms HDR supposedly coming Q2 2019
need a pair of headphones similar to the sennheiser 206 as i've just broke mine. Only looking to spend about £30
I hope the new, cheaper, Acer 4k high refresh models make waves. Cheaper is relative, as it's still above the $1,000 mark, but playing at that resolution in combination with 120hz or so, feels really good. And the more HDR monitors on the market the better.
By Facism Go To Postneed a pair of headphones similar to the sennheiser 206 as i've just broke mine. Only looking to spend about £30I don't know about any in that price range. Maybe see if there is a closed back Koss Porta Pro.

AMD claims 7-nanometers delivers 2x the density and offers 0.5x the power at the same performance or >1.25x the performance at the same power (note that at Computex AMD’s slide said “1.35x”). Zen 2-based chips are currently sampling and are on track to be delivered to market in 2019.

By Facism Go To Postmy bro wants to design prints for T-shirts. Any software recommendations?Paid or free?
He'll want to do vector graphics, so CorelDRAW, Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape ... I tend to use the latter for vector stuff, GIMP (or Photoshop) for general stuff. Both Inkscape and GIMP are free / open source.
By Lupercal Go To PostAll that money and Vapes ain't even got a decent Mod Box, come on Bruh.
I had one of those stupid triple battery set ups that went up to 250w for a while but it weighed a tonne and it was pain to carry around.
Switched to two X8 sticks and a TFV8 tank. Charge one while I use the other and swap them around throughout the day.

The singles just run out to quickly I find.

Say you had a budget of 400-450€ to build a desktop that will be used ...
Scenario 1: 50% browsing, 50% multimedia (video)
Scenario 2: 50% browsing, 30% multimedia (video), 20% mainstream / light / 1080p low-medium settings gaming
Case + components, monitor, keyboard, mouse abd secondary / data HDD are taken care of. Basically a best bang for buck build, components can be new / old / used / whatever.
What would you be leaning towards to?

You might get a good start by looking at the techreport system builder's guide as it has some econobox suggestions for you. A little old (summer) but should still be mostly relevant: https://techreport.com/review/33699/system-guide-current

So you want a combo of CPU/GPU/mobo/RAM for around 450 quid?

By Adam Go To PostSo you want a combo of CPU/GPU/mobo/RAM for around 450 quid?Basicalleh. I'll be tasked with putting together an 'entertainment' PC for my work group. Everyone will chip and I think we'll end up anywhere between 400-450€, because I don't feel like asking for more than 30-40€ per person is fair, seeing how some people will barely get to use it.
We already have a spare monitor, keyboard, mouse and a 1TB HDD, I'll have to procure everything else. My coworkers won't care how I go about it, so I'm free to buy either new or used hardware, if it makes sense.
Speaking of fairness, I'm not sure whether I should try to include a somewhat capable graphics card in that budget, because the only people that might think about doing some light gaming on it in the deadest of hours (that's right m8s, gaming at work) is me and one or two other guys.
So that's the first question right there. Do I go with a very capable 4c/8t CPU that will serve us well for years to come, throw in a super cheapo 10-20€ GPU and forget about gaming (for now) ... or do I go with a less powerful (but still solid) CPU and put 100-150€ towards a (used) 1080p gaming GPU ... or maybe see if I can build a system around an APU like the Ryzen 5 2400g, which means higher entry prices on other components (mobo, DDR4).
Idk, I'm still at the throwing ideas around stage, which is why I asked.
Well, this is to be a purely entertainment system, we have dedicated company computers for work. With limited internet access for security and firm policy reasons, which is partly why we've decided to buy one for ourselves, connect it to the public wi-fi network, so nobody can fuck with it.
But yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. Though the idea of playing PES/Fifa during those dead hours is quite alluring. We did in the past with great success.

By Zabojnik Go To PostSay you had a budget of 400-450€ to build a desktop that will be used …I would go second hand all the way and really scout out decent bargains. I think there’s more value in that in the sense that you can get some great CPUs for buttons on eBay. Going for an old 6 core Xeons over a new APU build, especially for your use case, is definitely the right call in my opinion.

I'm not sure I'll want to go eBay / Xeon route, I'd rather scout the local market fist, where server stuff is far less common, maybe see if I can get something in the 4790k range for about 150€. I'm not ruling anything out yet tho.
Best thing to do would be to compile a list / price of all the other components first and see how much is left for mobo / proc / ram.
So case, power supply, CPU cooler, SSD, wi-fi card.

Oh heavens no, I’m all in on the minimalist look.
Huh, looks like I'll be able to squeeze a Ryzen 7 1700 in that 450€ budget.
160€, cooler included. AMD bringing that absolute value.

By Smokey Go To PostBought the Arctis 7 for $99.Why keep throwing good money after bad?
Steelseries
Sennheiser
Corsair
Logitech
Headsets from each now :x
J/k, I think the arctis 7 is supposed to actually be good quality for the price.

Logitech was to complete the wireless trifecta of mouse, kb, headset. Corsair was to complete dat beautiful R G B look, Sennheiser was the OG, but wired, and Arctis was on sale but I hear it's really good!

🤔 Was worth a shot.
