By rerixo Go To Postno they said that ray tracing won't take off until their whole line can do it. they'll support it in their high end models.
“For the time being, AMD will definitely respond to Direct Raytracing,” for the moment we will focus on promoting the speed-up of offline CG production environments centered on AMD’s Radeon ProRender, which is offered free of charge ….. utilization of ray tracing games will not proceed unless we can offer ray tracing in all product ranges from low end to high end,” – David Wang, AMD
I don't see them stating they'll support it in their high end models, just that they'll respond.....sometime in the future.
By Smokey Go To PostI don't see them stating they'll support it in their high end models, just that they'll respond…..sometime in the future.yeah I should have said it'll come to high end models.. at some point, which is a message I thought was safe to infer.
the quote you posted was mistranslated though, here's the actual quote
Mr. Wang said that "AMD will definitely respond to DXR," after preposing that "This is a personal view", but "For the time being, AMD is providing it free of charge" We will focus on improving the offline CG production environment centered on Radeon ProRender ".https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gpu_displays/amd_will_definitely_respond_to_directx_raytracing_-_david_wang/1
"The spread of Ray-Tracing's game will not go unless the GPU will be able to use Ray-Tracing in all ranges from low end to high end," he said.

We all expected this right? Nobody went out there to buy a 2070 for a solid ray trace performance, surely?
DXR
Direct X Raytracing - The BFV 11-14-2018 Update which introduces first release of DXR ray tracing shipped with a couple of known bugs.
We recommend in this first release of DXR ray tracing that “DXR Raytraced Reflections Quality” be set to “Low” for the best experience. We will continue to work with Nvidia to further enhance your ray tracing experience.
“Medium” DXR quality preset setting not applied correctly
May cause performance and quality in the “Medium” preset to vary depending on which preset you selected last
Status: Fix coming in an upcoming update.
DXR Performance degraded in maps which feature a lot of foliage
This particularly effects War Stories “Liberte” and “Tirailleur”
Status: Currently investigating
DXR is not automatically enabled for users who can use the tech
This is known. We've provided a brief guide on enabling which includes downloading latest BFV update, Windows update, and GPU drivers.
Status: Workaround provided here.
Going for custom length cables. Thinking Noctua colours to match my fans since the rest of the build is entirely black and grey.
Thoughts on these? https://goo.gl/images/6j3HvU
They’ll be the same, just shorter.

Yeah... Dat false advertising. It just works badly.
By Adam Go To Post🤔Nooooo, there’s a guy doing fully custom length cables on r/SFFPC. Seen a lot of his work and it’s fantastic quality. Each individual wire is cut to length for a proper fit inside small cases like the NCase, DAN, and the new Louqe Ghost S1.

C’mon, the writing was on the wall when pre-release it was shown that the 2080Ti was struggling to hit 1080p/60FPS with ray tracing turned on.
Anybody that bought a 2070 with grandiose ideas of getting a good playing experience with ray tracing turned on is a fool.

Also managed to finally sell off some hardware. Old kit of RAM and my AIO are set to go on Monday. Hoping I can keep the ball rolling and get rid of my 1080 next
The 1809 W10 Update is out. Needed if you want to use the ray tracing features of the RTX cards.
1. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
2. Download the 416.94 drivers, which contain the ray tracing features
https://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/139905
For some reason after downloading the W10 update and installing, it still showed me at 1803. Redownloaded it again and went through the process a second time, which took longer and was more thorough, and on final reboot it showed 1809.

I played a full conquest match in BF V with Ray Tracing. I specifically played on Rotterdam, where I think most of the RT benefits are noticeable. With the PG27UQ, I was able to play the game at it's highest settings. Ray Tracing, HDR, Gsync, Ultra settings, and at 4k. The game looked really good, but yeah the performance hit is no joke. Performance varied on the map, but I found point E on the map to be the hardest hitting. Dropped to about upper 30s. Same for A point. The 2080Ti was maxed at 99% the entire time, and my CPU was damn near it. I think in a SP environment, RT will excel. It definitely adds an extra layer of fidelity on top of the image, and it IS noticeable, but in a full blown MP match, you're better off leaving it off, which was expected.
This was a 4k though. I'm gonna try it at 1080p in a bit, where we know it'll be a more fluid experience, but it's 1080p. But if you want to talk about a "Crysis" moment, all those features enabled at 4k is it. I was treading above water, but that shit was punching my rig. The overall image quality though? *whistles*
Super curious to try it in a SP centric game like Metro Exodus. BF V has RT only on reflections, and I think Metro is taking a more grand approach, but I could be wrong.

I played another round of Conquest this time at 1080p and Ray Tracing at Ultra. Perfectly playable. Talking 70-80fps range, on Rotterdam. My GPU wasn't being used all the way as I'm CPU limited at 1080p, but still. I will say...I think we're at a point where there's too much graphical information on the screen for 1080p. There's so much detail that, combined with the lower resolution, it just ends up looking weird. Hard to explain. HDR seemed to lose some of it's punch too. Probably just my opinion, but that was a tough transition.
I think Metro is using it for lighting, shadows and reflections? That what it seemed to be from the pre-release videos I’ve seen.

Woof. Too much money for me this year...
By Adam Go To PostWoof. Too much money for me this year…Hopefully the cheaper cut-down model of the X27 will be out next year, it’s the one I was going to wait for. Still Gsync, 4K, 144hz but only HDR400 and there’s no FALD. Should still be a decent punt though.
Lads, I'm fucking floored here.
Just played Siege in 4K and it's like the first time I played Super Mario 64 all over again. Everything is so crisp and clean, it's incredible. Feels just as smooth and responsive as my previous TN 144hz monitor, it probably isn't like, but I can't tell the difference in responsiveness between them.
This shit is next level, this is like switching from tobacco flavoured vapes to grape flavoured. This is Thanos with all the dragon balls clicking his fingers, y'know? Feels like a huge leap forward from 1080p gaming given that I'm still maintaining the same high frame rates with this kind of image quality. I'm gushing, but I think I can sum it all up perfectly with this

To hell with budget, I chose both.
I even like that light strip that runs underneath the monitor. I’ve set it to follow the colours on screen and it adds a nice bit of ambient lighting to my desk.
Who said RGB monitors were a bad thing, eh?
Fan noise was one of my main concerns too, but it has not been audible at all thus far.

What games have you tried ?
By Smokey Go To PostWhat games have you tried ?
I don’t have a lot installed yet, only tried Ground Zeroes, and that left me a little underwhelmed then Siege, which utterly buttered my biscuits.
Also tried the Switch on it to see how 1080p and under scaled and looked on the 4K screen. Mario Kart looked great, really bright and vibrant picture, as did Mario Party albeit a tad blockier on around the edges. Overall, happy with how it looks.
Going to redownload Far Cry 5 to see how the HDR looks, maybe buy Odyssey and definitely BFV (that has HDR, right?) to stretch the legs.
By Smokey Go To PostYup. FFXVis also one of the most demanding s d best looking games.I’d like to try it out, but Final Fantasy just isn’t my jam. Does look visually great from what I’ve seen.
Oh shit, yeah. I booted up The Witcher 3 before I tried the Switch. Don’t know how I forgot that. Only skipped through the opening and sliced a few monsters, but dayum it looked incredible with max settings at 4K/60.
Do you use Windows scaling at all for yours? I dropped it down to 100% since I sit quiet close, reading text hasn’t been an issue yet thankfully.
On my 27" 1440p monitor I increased windows scaling to 125% because text was causing me to strain slightly to read.
E: I usually make my text bigger on every device so as to cause as little eye strain as possible for my already terrible eyes

I use 125% scaling.
On 240hz which is mostly for CS:GO and certainly overkill as the difference from 144hz isnt very big, and you won't get up there in most games anyway (except csgo really...). But yes, I would take a 1440p over a 4k any day, if it meant 144hz vs 60. But really, just get me that 4k 144hz already, at a reasonable price thank you.
If I really want 4k, I use my tv. But usually I will just game on my 1440p monitor for 60hz games, and then competitive FPS games on my 1080p 240hz

Where's that Asus PG35VQ at?
I want a 38" ultrawide 4K equivalent next, but I'd settle for a 35" 1440p monitor with quantum dots, HDR, g-sync and 200Hz.
