By Zabojnik Go To PostI kind of wish I went with the above Seasonic last year. Or with another Titanium-tier PSU. I just couldn't justify the added cost at the time. Thinking back, it might've been a good idea to spend another 50-70€, especially with the 10-year (12, even?) warranty on these things. I'm very happy with the performance of my 750W Corsair RMi. No coil whine, fan doesn't turn on until @ 50% max. power usage (I can't hear it either way). 80+ Gold tho. What difference is there between a budget psu and an expensive one

Higher quality components, energy efficiency, noise, lifespan, general voltage stability on each rail. There was a video posted somewhere in this thread with people much smarter than myself discussing PSUs, it's really informative.
By FootbalIFan Go To PostWhat difference is there between a budget psu and an expensive oneQuality of components, which translates to durability, (current) stability and efficiency. The higher up the 80 Plus standard you go, the more efficient your PSU, which means less electricity / watts will get wasted (as heat). It's getting kind of hard to buy a really bad PSU these days, tbh.
By Kibner Go To PostThe PSU I ordered is apparently 97% efficient at 50% load. lolI'm actually jealous. I genuinely felt bad looking at that 89% and watts pulled from the wall / used in Corsair's PSU app, which is why I uninstalled it.

You can read this fanboyish review to make yourself sick some more: https://www.kitguru.net/components/power-supplies/zardon/seasonic-prime-titanium-fanless-600w-psu-review/
It is a rather new power supply, so I wouldn't feel so bad. It may not have even been out when you bought yours.
I'm pretty satisfied with my SF600. Heard some people complain about the fan noise and replace it with a Noctua but I swear they must have the ears of a damn owl because I've never heard mine.
By HottestVapes Go To PostI'm pretty satisfied with my SF600. Heard some people complain about the fan noise and replace it with a Noctua but I swear they must have the ears of a damn owl because I've never heard mine.I have a low noise floor in my house and I work from home and I'm sensitive to noise in the frequency range of fans and electric whine. So, this kind of thing is important to me.

By Kibner Go To PostI'm struggling to think of a common component or peripheral that doesn't.Do monitors have RBG? I mean like behind them or on the frame or on the stand
Edit
Nevermind, they do.
Instead of RGBs they should start implementing proper bias lighting solutions into gaming monitors. Or even better, a combination of both.
Suprised it's not a thing. An actual useful feature, easy to market as well.

PSU cables might be the only thing that aren't RGB.

e: tbh, higher quality streaming without getting a second PC is the biggest reason to upgrade right now

Microcenter really is a goat store. I used to live sround the corner from the one here, coincidentally, that's when I kept getting new crap for the rig lol.
The Kinesis Freestyle Edge keyboard just came out with a MX Cherry Silver version, which is the same as reds, but 40% less travel distance.
Anyone want my First Edition cherry red keyboard for $100 plus shipping? D:

Welp, new PSU came in and computer still won't turn on. Time for a new mobo, cpu, and ram! Will look at cost/benefit between the Ryzen 2700x vs i7 8700k.

What are the prices like in the US for them? In the UK, both go for as low as £280 depending on sales.

Pulled the trigger on the Ryzen build. Got this wireless controller for free from NewEgg on it. It's probably trash, though. NewEgg had the better deals on the parts I wanted compared to Amazon.

Fast decision maker, haha. I waited on mine for months before finally settling on parts (and then rebuilding it all anyway months later)
By HottestVapes Go To PostFast decision maker, haha. I waited on mine for months before finally settling on parts (and then rebuilding it all anyway months later)I have no gaming pc otherwise and I do a lot of work for my job on it, as well. I had also been looking at cpu reviews for a while now, anyway, since I was considering upgrading earlier this year.
I give up some gaming performance when I'm not GPU limited, but considering I use a 1070 at 1440p, that's not a huge deal to me. I get back that performance and then some with my day job and tinkering and just my general workload.

Pity those who spent all their money on RGB who won't be able to afford these reasonably priced monitors.

feeling better with my monitor purchase all the time
the Corsair 1000D will be $499. Absolutely a monster of a case. Pretty much exclusively for water cooling. Competition is the Phanteks Elite
All the RGBs for real lol
Kibner, this would be the perfect case for a dedicated streamer. You can fit two full system builds in the case.
edit: THE I/O PORTS ARE RGB

By HottestVapes Go To PostKib, you better post some fine build pics when you put your parts together.I need to go get some canned air so I can clean out all the dust when the new parts come in.
