Just finished Witcher. Showrunner should really shut up and be humble about it because it was trash.

Done with Witcher.
Yeah that shit isn't really good. Not terrible either, but just screaming mediocore on nearly every level apart from some actors who are doing well (Geralt and Yennefer in particular).
I get that it's hard to adapt book series that starts out with short stories and switches over to an ongoing story later on, but fuck me the creators really made it more obtuse and alot harder themselves.
Instead of tackling the lack of information by introducing the characters and the world better, they leave out important infos. They change characters, their motivation, they leave important characters out and instead bring other characters in that are as shallow as some of the sets they're filming in.
CG is questionable alot of times, but that's something I can brush aside.
What I can't really accept is the change in structure. Even as someone who read the books, it was really confusing at times to follow or see the timeline we are in. I dunno why the fuck they did that.
I mean nobody gives a fuck about that huge battle in the first episode, because you morons didn't introduce the characters. Nobody cares if they get killed...
The viewer just gets no feeling at all for the time. Yennefer is supposed to be old as hell, but it feels like she just finished her time in Aretusa
I really start to hate the concurrent arcs that are becoming alot more frequent in TV series. It worked in Game of Thrones, because it was done rather well. It doesn't work in Witcher for me, because they don't take enough of time for the scenes and are poorly paced at times.
As I already said I liked Cavill. He's exactly like he's supposed to and Yennefer is also suprisingly (never heard of the actress before) good.
On the other hand there are plenty of bad picks so far. The question remains if it's the actor/actress is actually lacking the ability or the writers gave them nothing to work with.
Not a fan of Triss, Fringilla, Vilgefortz. Don't like Cahir either, but that's also due the fucking atrocious changes they've made.
While we're at bad changes, the fucking doppler thing made no fucking sense at all. Not only the appearence was botched, but also the abilities.
Doesn't help that it feels like some of the writers are Walking Dead tier.
Time to get to something positive. The Yennefer backstory that they created was really well done. It fits the character, manages to introduce Aretusa and the mages on some level. If only they would have strucutured it better and actually said that this takes places alot earlier.
Fighting scenes are also really well done in most cases.

Lost in space is tough to watch, great production values but the robot obsession from the kid is so corny
Huge spike in player numbers for The Witcher games on Steam, TW3 has nearly matched the concurrent players from it’s launch.
The books are all charting on Amazon.
The show is just behind Stranger Things and Mandalorian for most streamed.
This shit is gonna go the distance, fams.

The results from television analytics firm Parrot Analytics are also reported by Business Insider, namely how in-demand the series has been the week of its release. The Witcher came in third for original series streaming last week, behind only The Mandalorian on Disney+ and Stranger Things also on Netflix

Spoke too soon earlier, it’s now topped the already decent concurrent player count from launch.
Factoring in GOG players and consoles, probably well over 250,000.

Witcher's success is messing with my mind. Something's up. How can such a poorly written, poorly acted show, become this successful?
Shock of the new?

It’s just not your cup of tea, m8. That’s okay.
By bud Go To Posti imagine it feels the void left by got, and it has a handsome sexxable lead.
That, plus The Witcher 3 was hugely popular, so there’s a lot of fans of the game watching it, positive word of mouth spreading from people that have watched it and liked it. Likely a fucking lot of Polish fans too.
Most obviously though, it’s just a good show and entertaining.
Lots of positive word of mouth here in the Netherlands. My sister loved it and she was totally unaware of the games and books. She now wants to get into the books too. New translated editions coming out next year.
By RrusheR Go To PostWhat makes it highly enjoyable? Pretty people?A lead which pretty much nails the character, great support characters (looking at ma boy Jaskier) fantastic music, the sets were pretty much bang on (Aratuza is a fantastic looking set) and they adapted the books in a way that they didn't just 1:1 copy them.
Sure I have nitpicks but it exceeded what I expected of it.
Kind of expected it to be popular given the amount of marketing Netflix threw at it. Even had an ad for The Witcher at the movie theater in Amsterdam on boxing day. But I didn't expect so many people not in the know about the games/books to like it. Pretty cool for the franchise. Even though the series is far from perfect I quite liked the first season. The fight scenes look bang on most of the time. Great set design. Cast is a bit hit and miss troughout the season. And some of the magic involved CGI looks dodgy. But all in all it was fine. Hopefully with a lot of introductions and time jumping out of the way the second season will feel more structured troughout. Nice addition to the Netflix library.

Most people don't care about how shows are "written" as in you'll almost never hear a large group of people talking about the writing of a show, that kind of discussion only pops up on forums. The Witcher is entertaining, and it's in a hot genre that doesn't have much competition on Netflix.
Charismatic leads, interesting premise, meme-able moments. Not surprised that it would be well received by viewers. Wasn't expecting it to be such a hit though, but it checks out.
worst series i've ever seen, and the only time i continued watching just to see how much worse it could get.
finally gave up after the first episode of season 4.

If you want to watch some actual shit, I recommend a series on Netflix called Bitten. Saw some episodes of it over the last few days while staying with my gf’s family.

To be fair I think it's supposed to skew more heavily to female tastes so maybe we're just not in the demo at all but it's bad. You want to see absolutely miserable though? Try watching Lost Girl.

Never underestimate the power of Baby Yoda! Less than two weeks after its debut on Disney+, The Mandalorian has officially become the most-watched television series in the U.S. across all streaming platforms.
The flagship launch series for Disney’s nascent online streaming service has ended Stranger Things' 21-week reign as America's most in-demand digital exclusive series, according to Parrot Analytics. For the week of November 17-23, the hit series based in the Star Wars universe garnered 100.3 million “demand expressions” (the data firm’s measurement unit reflecting the desire, engagement, and viewership of a series weighted by importance).
