Fuck actually reading, get knee deep in the audio book. It's on youtube, you can pick out a chapter you want to listen to via the comments. The show's first episode starts with The Lesser Evil, but the whole thing is golden.

I keep wondering who would win in a pure sword fight, Geralt or Achilles from Troy... really dont know who I'd back man.

Hate is a strong word. It's a hard watch though.

At episode 6 in Witcher.
In neither camp so far.
It's not bad, but also far from a standout so far. Just decent.
Cavill is a good pick, but the rest of the actors vary from good to absolute shit.
Main problem for me is structure, especially for those that are unfamiliar with the source material.
Given that they've introduced Yennefers backstory that plays way before the actual timeline, as well as Ciri and her mixed timelines it becomes kinda weird.
Like you don't give a single fuck for the first big battle, because you don't know the people of Cintra. Should have done the wedding scenes before the burning of Cintra.
Honestly they should have done a narrator at the start of the first episode, giving a bit of information about the world and the most important points.
Not a fan of some monster designs and the dryads look like some amazons.
Dunno why they continue to use Stregobor, when he isn't really part of the world anymore and there are plenty of other mages they could have used further on.

I did find the split time lines a tad confusing at first, but once it clicked with me that the three time lines weren’t happening at the exact same moments in time, I was cool with it. The juxtaposition between the Yen scenes and Geralt’s in episode 3 was worth the time line fuckery for me.
Six episodes in. Time line stuff could've been done better, no doubt, but my main problem with the show is the writing, which ranges from okay to absolute shambles. The way the main writer is behaving on Twitter ("fuck the critics, the people (?) like it" isn't giving me much hope for S2.
Still worth a watch.

Let’s be honest though, fuck the critics. Enjoy the media that you find entertaining, not the media you’re told to think is entertaining.
Otherwise we’d all be wanking over Citizen Kane and Thom Yorke songs or some shit.

It's true but at some point you most likely have to at least get the critics to say your shit is average if you want Netflix or whoever to keep giving you money...

Currently the longest running Netflix show started it’s first season with a 56% on RT.

By HoboVapes Go To PostLet’s be honest though, fuck the critics. Enjoy the media that you find entertaining, not the media you’re told to think is entertaining. There's gotta be a middle of the road here though. Constructive criticizem and the acknowledgement of it is a time-proven self-improvement method. These days it's often muddled and lost in the diarrhea of lowbrow, half-digested opinions that stem from social media, but it's something that I think any author and creative person should actively seek and engage with, if one cares about pushing the quality of their particular craft.

By number of episodes, I believe it’s Grace and Frankie. Take it up with Google though, not me.
Another series that’s been going a while on there despite shit critical reception is Fuller House.

It’s the fans of source material that subbed to Netflix to watch the show, and Netflix cares more about getting paid than critical reception at the end of the day. Plenty of highly praised shows have been cancelled after 1-2 seasons because they’re just not bringing in the subs.

I kind of doubt it was just because they said fuck the critics ead!

Those impressions should be equally important to a writer and should be considered when you analyze what went well and what didn't.
Honestly I don't get the problem, well I do but it's fucking childish.
Some parts of the media that go way overboard with their criticism, something that should never happen to a serious outlet and puts them on a similar level of crying fans. On the other hand you've got a writer that basically acts like a spoiled child that seeks only conformation by fan reviews that make him sound positive.
Those excessive exaggerations are just tiring and take away the middle ground for reviews that are usually well written and make their point without being one extreme or another.
Clickbait twitter shit. Not a fan of it.

And the shows that had were well received by critics but binned off anyway? Even discounting the Marvel shows, there’s plenty that have started out with a 90% or more and still been binned in two seasons or less.

Just doesn’t seem like that’s the case when you look into it. The average for any show on Netflix is two seasons, They’ve openly spoke out about their sweet spot being three seasons/30 episodes total. Due to not being advertiser driven, they value shows that pull in subs that correlate with views more than any other metric because that’s how they make their money.
I’m sure they’re happy to have critically well received shows that also pull in lots of subs, but when it comes time to bin a show off, the track record shows that they’ll be axing the show that makes them the least money regardless of how well it’s received by critics (or viewers).
Unless a show is winning emmys, critical reception does not factor much into Netflix’s decision making

The answer really can't be "Don't give a fuck we most likely are going to get binned so fuck off." manchild responses
well I’m pretty sure there are specific top line sign up and retention KPIs the content strategy team is held accountable to. If the shows they’re producing is helping them hit those internal metrics, they’ll keep the lights on. If not, the axe comes quick
That remains to be seen, but the fact they renewed before the series premiered must mean that engagement’s been extremely good

I saw it on Netflix and thought it was just about some random cat killer and then they mentioned Luka Magnotta at the end of the first episode and I had to watch the rest.
I remember when that 1 maniac 1 icepick video dropped, had no idea that he had videos before that.
Had no idea about the extent of his delusions and the Facebook group that caught him before the cops did.
