She deserved a lot better than that scene I’ll tell you what, her character and Red were the only real characters.
MCU movies these days: The Rock and Vin Diesel CGed to look like they are in the same scene, but if the entire movie was shot like that
Why would the director even plan the shot like that? You'd think they had zero control over the movie or something
superhero movies having a rough start post-COVID
WW 84 looked like a bunch of middle school students filmed it and that Black Widow clip looks like the competing project in film class.

By sy Go To Postdirector could have storyboarded it themselves.Marvel does the pre vis like two years ahead of time, before they even have a director.
Who even is the "director" of Black Widow lol
If Disney wasn't required by union rules to offer a directing credit they wouldn't even bother

executive producers overstep their boundaries all the time.
in a lot of cases they'll use feedbacks from focus groups and do a hack n slash in post and not even collaborate with the director.

By reilo Go To PostWho even is the "director" of Black Widow lolThe only of her past works that I've seen was Berlin Syndrome and I liked it, I remember that Lore was also well received.

By Lupercal Go To PostBlack Widow was meh, there's some bright spots here and there but it's just another Marvel movie.I payed looooool
Don't pay 30$ for this.
Anyway, I kind of liked it, its full of nothing and the drama felt very forceful. but it was nice to see full MCU film again. Loved Pugh and Harbour's character but didn't like the main Natasha character at all. Taskmaster was just a waste, could have been a very scary opponent, like Nemesis in RE2 where they would chase Natsha all over the world and kick her ass, but we only had 2 fights and the villains sucked.
Kind of regret paying the full amount since it would have been cheaper if I went to the Cinemas
By RATHasReturned Go To PostI asked on Twitter, is that clip legit? It's like something out of WW84.
To be honest, the last part of the movie is full of nonsense and that GIF kind of summarised it.

That clip looks bad in the theater too, but it doesn't really bring down the rest of that sequence. Usually they're better at compositing than that

That’s a little different though, isn’t it? Pixar’s directors are usually those credited with the story and script too, whereas Marvel is usually more gun for hire. No surprise that the best Marvel movies are predominantly those where the directors also write them
Yeah, we all know that if directors get full control over action scenes they always come out perfect and nothing like this.
twitter shitposting has reached new lows recently. Noticed it since I started following basketball in particular.

Finished the Snyder Cut of Justice League. It's still simply a bad movie. I liked it better than Whedon's theatrical release. And it's definitely the directors vision on screen which makes it better than three quarters of the identikit Marvel releases.
But the pacing is all over the place, the action nothing special and he overuses a moody soundtrack in place of actual dialogue and acting (this may be a point someone on here made before, but it's definitely a relevant one). I love music in films and I think a good soundtrack is what heightens a good movie to become a great one. But here there was nothing special on screen and the music was just a crutch.
Also, editing is a vital skill in movies. Possibly the most important one. This film was four hours long and still not fully coherent. It's a bad movie for this alone. It simply wasn't worth the effort.

Okay, that was amazing. That bit was enough to justify the existence of this movie.
Eighth Grade was wonderfully awkward and extremely relatable (I always struggled with confidence in school and making friends outside of my group). Elsie Fisher was superb.
Also rewatched The Conjuring, enjoyable shlock.

Speaking of The Conjuring, watched the third one the other day.
It's competently made but it was the weaker one of the mainline by far.
I think it lacked a really good villain.
The other two had some interesting villains to the point that they made 3 spin-offs based on characters that they introduced but there wasn't anything like that on this one.

Having rewatched Blade Runner and 2049 on 4K Blu (both look absolutely gorgeous btw) in the past week, I still feel the sequel is a better film in terms of character development and narrative arcs. Music and visuals are better in the OG ofc, but I loved the hints of Vangelis in the sequel.
