By Xpike Go To PostI've had around 7 interviews the past week, I'm so exhaustedWhat are you applying for, Xpike?
"You don't understand. It's important we do this work now to consolidate our providers to save on usage fees as it directly impacts the bonuses that C-Suite receives"

By JesalR Go To PostYeah, you're pretty bang on.The secret is, you can't.
I don't know a good way of truly assessing someone over the space of a few hours, but these tests always benefit a homogenous group
You can run all the test and screens and stupidity you want, you actually still don't know how the person will do.
Amazon has a v.high turnover despite having a ridiculous recruitment process. Average length of stay for a google employee was 3 years or less last i checked.
It's actually the whole point of the probation period. You get to see if what they said in their interview was true and they bring the skillset you wanted.
By giririsss Go To PostAverage length of stay for a google employee was 3 years or less last i checked.Isn't that because companies like Amazon, Google, FB, etc all offer some sort of stock option and those options unlock at the end of 3 or 4 years (I heard amazon was 4 years), so these employees get filthy rich after 3-4 years when they're able to sell their stocks and bounce, usually starting their own companies or retiring for a while.
Think that's what a friend of mine said while he was working for Amazon in Seattle, but I could be wrong this was years ago. Could have also been an isolated case.
It's not inherently wrong. Once you have one of those company on your resume jumping ship to another of the same caliber also results in a significant pay bump.
That's also true in certain finance roles. Like 90% of investment bankers only ever stay a year because the job is shit but now they have the keys to pretty much any job they want. Some places really are a golden ticket.

Like 90% of investment bankers only ever stay a year because the job is shit but now they have the keys to pretty much any job they want. Some places really are a golden ticket.Just keep working man. Hard work as shitty as it sounds opens up doors and allows you to take advantage of your own luck. Some people just have advantages due to family but just keep your head down. Finance is such a shitty job when you are just starting.
Also take advantage of your minority status cause these companies love to show that they promote us.
Been a big week. Passed the Irish Bar exams so I'm now a qualified Barrister.
Can now put that down on my CV/resume as I'm looking for a new job.

This is why Nike will always be the goal for me, beyond just being a Swoosh stan.
Once you have that on your resume doors just fly open within the industry and in other industries.

Thanks very much for the well wishes lads. I was very worried about the results. I was convinced that I'd failed the Evidence Law exam.

Something big happening?
No. Well, sorta. I think it's a mix of launching a new product end of summer with a harsh deadline, C-Suite cutting costs (their bonuses are tied to it you see!), ambiguity around my new role (manager / director level with no budget and/or ability to hire people I need da fuck), and the fact that I am aware I can double my salary elsewhere...
Now that I say it out loud, maybe it's a lot of things.
But honestly I think it's mostly burnout from the last two years of the pandemic and feeling like none of it was worth it given how much work I put in.
I need a break -- a real proper sabbatical type shit where I can coast for a few months and reset.

Thanks for all the well wishes lads. Got very drunk on Friday and Saturday in celebration.
Starting the job hunt for new roles in legal/compliance jobs. Only issue is my lack of
actual experience in those sectors. My previous role was working loosely with our companies regulator. So I have an in to bullshit certain things on my CV.

If you want to learn literally everything go and work at regulator for 2 years. Legal/Compliance shops with open their legs for you. Aren't you in Ireland though though Cleff? Those jobs must be everywhere as they are here in Cayman. God knows there are enough Irish here as it is.
I took a vacation earlier this year and as soon as I got back I was like, maybe I need another one. Pandemic burnout is real.
GOT THE JOB LADS
Been hella interviewing but I got the one I wanted most. Going to working with securities lending at a pension fund. Essentially shorting stocks lol

By Lunatic Go To PostFucking great m8. We all moving on up. Congrats, Back office I guess? Thanks bro! Naw, middle office! Going to be directly interacting with traders. My current role is middle office too but I’ve got significantly higher pay now. I don’t think I’m cut out for front office work.
new milestone for my post production company.
wrapped up vfx work on our first episodic show for a streaming site (Hulu).
Also, We're also moving into 12k square feet facility in the San Fernando valley.
we should be done with renovations and equipments by months end.
We'll be in a better position to bid on TV contracts as we'll have a proper screening room.

I don’t think I’m cut out for front office work.Great I was hoping middle office but was not sure as just started. However lol your going to hate moving up to a new tax bracket and see even though you make more your take home is barely more. Though I guess you are married now so you can take advantage of the tax benefit. I deal with a lot of front office financial advisors and fuck if most of them are glorified marketers. Always funny when they try to bullshit those lower on the ladder then change their tune when I come in as a VP with a direct line of communication to the director of their entire group.
But still congrats, you were all stressed just a week ago and look what happens; you got married then got a job offer. Keep up the hard work because actual thinkers make it far. Our 30s are the prime salary increase years.
Hell yeah PB
