By Kabro Go To PostWe really need our own Linkedinlunatics thread.I've never used LinkedIn, but some of stuff I've seen there is just yikes.
I wish we did paid sabbaticals
Lord knows I could use one to get some things out of my system and enjoy work again.

I got one of those new coworkers who sees zero issues writing checks others have to cash
hello stress, my old friend
hello stress, my old friend
I was definitely burning out the last couple of months.
what helped reduce stress was not working on weekends anymore and doing my exercises
which included playing bball regularly and going for long nature hikes outside the city.

Starting a new job next Monday and it irks me that I don't even know when I'm supposed to show up at the place. I know it's summer time, but was expecting more in terms of onboarding.
This is a Swedish company that is in an American conglomerate and I thought the Americans were good at this. But all I got was a template for a LinkedIn post.

And bad onboarding is often a sign to stay on your toes anyways

other places they're like "shit, put out this fire" and they go assign me a workstation area that has the most mess. yeah Godspeed man.
its treacherous here.

By Laboured Go To PostWhat percentage of them do we reckon are ending up in jail? Around 87% in my conservative estimate.
That will be part of the plan to whittle the 600 down to 30. The remaining excess will be handled by overdosing on coke.
By DY_nasty Go To PostGot an apology at work. Didn't know such a thing was possible.Have you reached paradise?
Working in an American firm is so damn rigid, man. As a consultant I've been working at something like 15 Swedish firms so this is a cultural shock. Even the message on the login screen that says the computer is corporate and misuse could result into a firing is weird.
The worst thing though is the IT department that is in India. My boss sent them a request in May to have all the software and accounts ready this Monday and it is still not done. I'm just creating support tickets and fiddling my thumbs instead of working....

By reilo Go To PostFrom the dude?Nah lol from his office and direct counterpart. I got the "just wanted to be clear, that's now how we do business" and a legit reaffirmation of expectations... If anything, my office and coworkers are more bothered by the fact that I was surprised at how quickly they supported me in the whole ordeal.
By Batong Go To PostHave you reached paradise?Maybe. Approaching one year at this place and at my current experience in the industry, it doesn't get better imo. I'm finally at the perch where I realize I need some additional legitimacy to my resume in order reach the next level though. I look backwards and love the pace of my progression, but I do need to plant my feet at some point and add more to my resume.

Oh brother
Got my annual assessment this week, first one since I started about a year ago.
Really positive, but the thing that stuck out was the amount of work I was able to complete. Going from a startup environment to this is nuts, the expectations on pace of delivery is so much lower, so I didn't think I was really going above and beyond, but enough people called out how much I was able to churn through.
Startup brain really was bad
