By blackace Go To PostAgain get shit reformed instead of just piling years on a shit system and I am all for stiff penalties. But just adding years just feeds a horrible system that still is arresting and jailing people for lying about their address.reform, sure. what's a starting point - non violent crimes and absurd sentencing.
repeat offenders with weapons are far, far down the list and lumping them in with "everyone" is just..... its kinda cringe tbh.

don't know why its so hard to have a cutoff point for second chances when it comes to firearms
By DY_nasty Go To Postand any time someone with multiple charges leaves another family broken, its a different type of failureI'm just saying that a person getting caught in historically crime heavy area with an illegal firearm because they caught a drug charge 20 years ago isn't the same as a person with a history of violence illegally concealing a firearm and probably shouldn't be getting this "fuck him and his life" energy. Sentencing without context is what helped lead to bullshit mandatory sentencing laws.

A cutoff point for repeat offenders is fine.
By DY_nasty Go To Postand any time someone with multiple charges leaves another family broken, its a different type of failurethe cutoff in a broken system is nearly pointless if you are jailing people behind bad credit reform the shit from the ground up and then start talking about making things stiffer... if we learned anything from 3 strikes is tough on crime doesn't mean shit if the system makes criminals

The targeting of minorities and the generational effects is a huge subject as well.
In that, there's a small section I'm emphasizing over and over again - that is repeat offenders who specifically occupy the realm of gun charges. I'm not particularly fond of the idea of excusing this relatively small group because of maybes, mights, and "product of their environment" reasoning. There is no point in minimizing the clear dangers of textbook irresponsible gun ownership as if it somehow adds value to any community.
In short, fuck em.
fair enough, but for me, I ain't with anything adding years to the system until it gets reformed because of how broken it is
You almost want to see her fire her gun especially since she's just gonna hurt herself before she even hits the broadside of a barn.
They were walking by, on public property?
That's aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and carries a lengthy prison sentence.

Yeah, I'm going to protest in the streets of a gated community in a state that thinks the world is a Gary Cooper movie.
It's like all the surreal satirical bits in Paul Verhoeven films that you thought were too on the fucking nose, come to life.
By bud Go To Postamerica is a surreal country.A friend of mine I know in AZ had an uber driver on her street (waiting to pick up two people) get run into by a intoxicated driver and the uber driver crashed into a tree and died instantly.
i don't understand it.
The culprit then fled the scene (apparently got picked up later by police) but my friend said she ran outside and saw two other guys draw some machine guns on the guy to retilliate. She apparently convinced them to lower the guns.
I was like...

'OK, are you alright? '

Did y'all know the Golden State Killer was a police officer?
The moment his victims have waited decades to experience — when a man admits to terrorizing California as the Golden State Killer — will take place Monday, as a 74-year-old former police officer shuffles into not a courtroom but a university ballroom.
When Joseph James DeAngelo Jr. steps onstage at Cal State Sacramento, cameras will project his face onto the ballroom wall so all can see, closing the Golden State Killer case with more spectacle than court decorum.
The crime series ran from at least 1973 to 1986 and involved attacks on some 106 children, men and women. Fifty women were raped. Thirteen people were killed.https://apple.news/AwPbPGCYgQD-8WyAR8ReShg
Just saw reddits updated rule on 'Promoting Hate Based on Identity or Vulnerability'
Marginalized or vulnerable groups include, but are not limited to, groups based on their actual and perceived race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or disability. These include victims of a major violent event and their families.
While the rule on hate protects such groups, it does not protect all groups or all forms of identity. For example, the rule does not protect groups of people who are in the majority or who promote such attacks of hate.
By Pac-12 Go To PostThis is actually pretty stupid - the mods of the donald subreddit had basically shut down the place a couple of months ago to get everyone to move to some new website, and I don't think there had even been a post on there for like 3 months before today. Really just a simple attempt to make it look like their taking action
Yeah once a sub is on quarantine it's effectively dead. Plus the admins actually removed the mods and asked for people to apply and that didn't work out at all.
not even shocked or surprised. Barstool been awful.
