Somehow my system is already quieter than the old one, which was very much silence focused. And that's before I start fucking around with undervolting and PBO shenanigans on the 5900x. The power of the Meshlicious.
This EKBW AIO is doing a fantastic job keeping temps under 70° in pretty much all scenarios; multicore workloads, gaming, desktop use with occasional load spikes, etc. The pump is relatively quiet at 100% (~2600rpm) and inaudible at 1700rpm, which is where I have it running at most of the time. The way I have the curve configured in Argus I don't think I've ever seen it go above 70% and by that point I'm unable to hear it over the sound of the GPU and AIO fans spinning up anyway.
Speaking of these Vardar fans ... yeah, not a big fan. I don't know if it's because they're static pressure focused or because of the radiator in front of them or just because they're not the best fans out there, but they're way louder at 1000-1100rpm (under load, can't hear them otherwise) than my old Silent Wings 3. I see two NF-A14s in my near future. Or should I try something else, fratello Vapes?
One thing I'm hoping to help alleviate by undervolting the GPU is the dreaded coil whine. It's pretty bad on this 3070ti.
Go with Arctic P14 PWM over Noctua 140mm fans. Quieter, better. Noctua fell behind in the 140mm category since they’ve not updated them in so long.
Edit: yet to hear any coil whine from my 3080Ti. Could be due to the UV, or the glass front/side insulating the noise, or a combination of both.

By HonestVapes Go To PostI’m not sure if that applies to the P14, I know it’s an issue with the P12.Can hear it on my P14s, but I’ve got 2 either side of the radiator so I never have them really get about 600

Probably a combo of both. Can't do much about where the card sits in relation to me, so hopefully the UV helps.
By JesalR Go To PostThat said, the Arctic P14s have a weird whine just under and above 1000rpmHuh. Well, they're cheap enough that I don't mind giving them a try. Can always use a couple of backup fans.
Damn, undervolting the GPU feels like magic, haha. Is Heaven a reliable indicator or real world behaviour? GPU is pegged at 100%, so there's that, but I don't know.
Dropped over 150mv, 70W and 7°C while maintaining the (more or less) stock boost of 1935mhz after just a couple of adjustments. Currently at a stable 875mv. I'm gonna try some games to see how stable it is and then we go even lower.
Coil whine dropped immensely during Shadow Of The Tomb Raider benchmark, which has been the worst offender so far. Absolutely sensational.

Heaven isn’t a great test to be honest. You’ll wanna try a game with and without ray tracing ideally since your UV can be stable in pure rasterisation and unstable with ray tracing
By s y hulud Go To PostDo we expect 1tb ps5 level ssds to go under $100 any time soon?Late 2022 or early 2023 perhaps.
That's just a guess, I don't know much
By s y hulud Go To PostDo we expect 1tb ps5 level ssds to go under $100 any time soon?Impossible to say given all the price fixing that could happen
By s y hulud Go To PostDo we expect 1tb ps5 level ssds to go under $100 any time soon?I would doubt it outside of a great sale. Storage prices are currently still higher than they were two years ago due to chip shortages and storage based crypto, so I can't see it dropping too soon.
It's intensely irritating. I really need a new drive
Repadded the memory on the 3080ti, it’s significantly cooler, but I think I left the pads too thick, because the core is now getting far too hot for comfort, hitting 90 in places it was previously hitting upper 80s. The pads aren’t allowing the core to make good enough contact with the cold plate. Will have to pull it apart and try again tomorrow.
Vapes, are you using a HDMI 2.1 cable to connect the 3080ti to the OLED or are you a HDMI 2.0 cable + DSC kind of lad?

HDMI 2.1. Specifically a “CSL” branded right angle cable from Amazon. It’s 3m long, having no issues with it.
I…am kind of interested in the Corsair 700D m8s
All of that space intrigues me
I want to try water cooling vapes pls
I’ve also given up on trying to find any additional DDR5 RAM. might take this 16GB back to Microcenter and just wait.
9900k rig operating gud rn. Very pleased with the cooling performance and no crashes.

The memory tops out at 90c now, as opposed to hitting the 110c thermal throttle point previously. Core is maybe a degree or two hotter than before, but well within normal running temps.
How'd it go?
Overall, it’s really easy to do, the only real issue is measuring up the pads right, and one very fiddly ribbon cable
By Smokey Go To PostI…am kind of interested in the Corsair 700D m8sFam, I’ve pulled off full loops in a case the size of a shoebox, and another in a case 25% smaller than most midtower. You’ve got space in your current case for dual 360mm rads, and spave for a nice reservoir/pump combo. That is plenty of space for quiet cooling.

For sure. I’ve seen a ton of WC builds in the P500a.
But still
I am intrigued

I'm happy with the 3m TrueHD HDMI 2.1 cable I've been using with the PS5. There's quite a few certified ones to choose from these days, wasn't the case 6+ months ago.
Anyway, standard right or otherwise angled cables aren't going to cut it for how and where I want the inputs on the Meshlicious ...
... so I'm gonna have to give these fabled ADT-Link extension cables a try. I haven't been able to find much info on SFF forums in regards to the newer DP 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 versions specifically, hopefully they work just fine.
By Smokey Go To PostI…am kind of interested in the Corsair 700D m8sI used to have the Corsair 700D / 800D back in the day. It wasn't a good case for air cooling but probably ok for water, though I think modern cases would probably be better

If you wanted a big boy case for watercooling, I’d say go with the Enthoo Luxe. Top, bottom, side and front mounts for radiators. Huuge case.
The bigger you go though, the more it’s gonna cost in parts to make it worthwhile and look good. More radiators, more fittings, etc.

Uhuhuhu.
Works fine with a standard HDMI 2.0 cable. On one hand I appreciate that DSC is automatic, working in the background, on the other it's kind of weird to not have the option to turn it on / off, or at least some indication that it's being actively used, even if it is basically lossless.
1499 nits m8s. My C9 must have one of those Evo 3.0 prototype panels from 2026.

Honestly I didn't know DSC was a thing with HDMI/HDMI 2.0. i thought it was a DP 1.4 thing and only supported if the display supported it.
By HonestVapes Go To PostHonestly I didn't know DSC was a thing with HDMI/HDMI 2.0. i thought it was a DP 1.4 thing and only supported if the display supported it.DP 1.4 supports it and so does HDMI 2.1. It only works because both the C9 and 3070ti are HDMI 2.1. HDMI 2.0 as a standard doesn't support it, however since 4K 120hz HDR 4:4:4 12-bit comes to just below ~16gbps with DSC, a 18gbps HDMI 2.0 cable has no problem carrying the signal.
Kinda wish I knew about that but also, I needed/wanted an angled cable anyway so it’s not all bad.
Is there any downside to DSC? I know a few monitors that support it but have yet to hear any complaints about it

As much as I am enjoying using the oled in my living room, the back support on my couch is lacking. Need my desk chair. And get the 48” OLED screen as a monitor….it’s already at ~1k. Paid almost twice that for the legendary PG27UQ.

Given the price and size of the CX/C1 really shows how fucking absurd the pricing of our monitors was/is
By HonestVapes Go To PostIs there any downside to DSC? I know a few monitors that support it but have yet to hear any complaints about itDSC is supposed to be 'visually lossless'. So not really lossless, but so close that most people are not able to tell the difference, at least according to VESA. I haven't seen any comparisons or studies that prove otherwise, so I've no reason to doubt it. Same goes for latency, which amounts to one horizontal refresh cycle. A few thousandths of a millisecond. So while technically there is some added latency ... there isn't.

Going to test out the Logitech G Pro X Superlight, seeing as I have given up on ever getting that 40g finalmouse, at a price that isnt more expensive than a fucking gpu (thanks buy bots), and after getting a refund for the razer viper wireless. may the logitech gods be with me, or i have to return this too.

Actually, I need to swap out the mainboard first, which can be had for 15€ or so. I must've heat-damaged some of the traces when I was soldering new switches on, scroll wheel isn't working anymore.
By Celcius Go To PostI know it’s outdated and I don’t need it at all, butRemember when I wanted a Titan v ceo edition? I actually found someone who was a recipient at the event and had one (signed box and everything). When we started talking price, they wanted the price of a used car so I decided it wasn’t worth it just to have it sit on my shelf and look cool. Feelsbadman.gif
I’ve always wanted one of these. Maybe because it’s gold and rare. (only 20 made)
