Not too worried about Dembele, to be honest. He'll be alright.
"Aren't you the guy who got blasted at Barca?"
"Nah man, that was the other Dembele".
"Which one?"
"Exactly."

If that’s the end of Dembele at Barca then I struggle to think of a bigger flop. The amount and effort they spent getting him.

More and more I find myself looking to Dwayne Johnson for daily inspiration. If I find myself too tired to get out of bed for the gym I remind myself that The Rock is in the gym for 5am every day. If I find myself too grumpy I remind myself of the general energy and warmth he gives everyone at all hours.
He’s basically my life guru.
And between sets in the gym I’m googling Matt Ritchie and Eddie Howe to see how similar they look.
The former looks like a VO5 advert version of Howe.

By Oddinho Go To PostI agree that you should have video referees, but they should be reviewing the incidents and sending the information to the main official, so he doesn’t have to leave and review. Have the video assisted refs radio over the crucial parts and the main official can use that to make their decision. But that is exactly what the video refs do. The main official doesn't have to leave and review it, it's his decision to do so if he doesn't completely trust the video refs information or if they are not completely sure.
I have more of a problem with people who call you a luddite if you don't want VAR than I do with VAR itself
We've had VAR this season in Portugal and desipte seeing at least 6 goals being dissalowed for Sporting after VAR (a couple of them would put us up top now), I don't want to go back to games without VAR.
It's not perfect but it reduces so many refereeing errors. It will get better as refs and the audience get more used to it.

By Kermit Go To PostCan you elaborate more on that story? I’ve never heard it. Sounds interesting.
De Gea began 2012 on the United bench as the “horrendous” six months Steele referred to took their toll.
The coach, who picked up Spanish because De Gea was “lazy in his desire to learn English”, elaborated on the keeper’s problems and how the club helped him in an interview with fanzine United We Stand in 2013.
“One issue with him was that he was just 71 kilos. We worked with him on and off the field to make him more powerful. We changed his lifestyle. He would finish training and want to go home. When I told him to come back in the afternoon he’d ask: ‘Why?’
“There were lifestyle issues. He’d sleep two or three times a day. He’d have his main meal late at night. He’d eat too many tacos.
“We pushed protein drinks on him straight after training. We physically made him drink. We had him in the gym a lot. He hated it. They don’t do the gym in Spain as much. We needed to build his core strength.
“I told him he needed to train better, that he was on show every day. There were times in his first season when he trained poorly. I told him that players made decisions for managers, not the other way around. That he should be first, not last out for training.”
It's good to keep in mind though that some players do learn to keep care of themselves. Messi and Kane are examples.
It remains just a fear. A small one at that.
By Cleff Go To PostAnd I’ve still got a chance in the NBA.
an interview with Azmoun's coach at Rubin Kazan. he went through some poor form for most of the season and only regained his form recently
allah pls
Q. What is his potential?
A. His big weakness is that he doesn’t handle outside pressure very well. There was huge, crazy interest in him: all the clubs called us and his father. Top clubs at that: Arsenal, Celtic. Everton’s Iranian owner contacted me and tried to reach a transfer agreement. Azmoun has millions of fans, incredible amounts of attention – and he couldn’t handle it. He came to Rubin as a star, after a good season, and his head was in the clouds. I’m grateful to God that he tested him in such way. If he hadn’t scored a single goal, it would’ve been even better for him. I told him that Allah was punishing him for getting carried away with fame: “You’ll have a lot of chances, but you’ll never score.” He tempted the fate in Rostov where he had just two or three chances, but scored consistently, his conversion rate was crazy. But luck means very much for a forward. As a result, Serdar lost his place both in the club and in the national team, then he got injured. This unprofessionalism was the cause of his difficult season.Only in the game against Lokomotiv I saw the Azmoun we really needed.
Q. Will this period strengthen him?
A. Periods like this are necessary. I’m glad he went through it.
allah pls

Well-written, but ignores the fact that a key part of Pep’s genius is his innate ability to buy the right players and carefully build a team. As United and PSG and Arsenal and Chelsea and so many other rich teams have proven in the past few years, it really does matter how you spend it.
Sanchez is a perfect example of nonsensical buying or a player that doesn’t suit a system.
Guardiola's transfer record as a manager is fairly average, with many high profile flops (or his DoFs record, to be fair). Not something I would remark upon as a strength of his.
Lmao, Pep didn’t buld this team.
The core players reaponsible for city winning the league were already there. The only signing that has truly made an impact has been Ederson, and that was to correct a wrong that was made by Pep.
I think it says a lot about Pep’s signings when he is still reliant on Kompany being the best CB.
All this lavish praise for Pep, but at the end of the day, he was already aitting on one of the most expensively constructed sides in history and he has only managed to win two out of eight trophies. When you are ten years into a project like this, that ain’t good enough IMO.

Pep is nothing special when it comes to transfers, he just goes to clubs with great squads that only need a little work. He then spends more than most other clubs in the same league and ends up with a decent team *golf clap*.
Over the last two season's worth of transfers, Claudio Bravo and Nolito have been flops. Zinchenko, Stones and Danilo have been average at best.

who remembers chygrinsky
I would argue the exact opposite to be honest. I think Guardiola’s transfer record is pretty spotty but he is an unbelievable coach who is able to maximise (or close to) some poor buys. Walker and Ederson have been massive successes obviously, but I’m curious how much say he has over transfers. Same goes with his buys at Barca and Bayern; either he doesn’t make the purchases and a DoF does (in which case he can be absolved of making those buys but still should be responsible for holding such a vaunted position) or he does make them and he is able to compensate for some clangers.
Ederson has been a decent success. Probably the most overrated player in City at the moment.
And it's not that I don't think he is good. Just that I haven't seen him do anything particularly great this season for people to make him to be the next Joe Hart. That might come, just don't understand people clamouring their praises about him.

wat? Sané? Bernardo Silva? Walker? They didn’t make an impact?! Even Mendy was fantastic while he was on two legs. Coupled with Ederson that’s not a bad start.
Ten years ago the common wisdom was this would all last a few years then they’d fuck off back to Towelhead land and we’d be mid-table again.
Instead... we’ve won 3 of the last 7 titles, bagged a cabinet-full of English minor crowns in 7 years, fundamentally revamped a huge swath of Manchester, built a shit-hot academy and have the best facilities in all of Europe. We just won the league in equal record time and stand to smash a fair few records before the season’s out. The last decade has been a stunning, stunning success, and any attempts to downplay it are hilarious. I remember those days at GAF six years ago when you’d all fall over yourselves to say this was a fad and they’d get bored. That prediction went well...
German magazine 11freunde had an rather interesting article regarding the big leagues and how predictable they've become.
265 was the difference in point between the first and second within England,Italy,Spain,France,Germany over the last five years.
Between 2007/08 - 2011/12, the difference was only 130 points.
France had a difference of 68 points over the last five years, while it was only 24 between 2007/08 - 2011/12.
Germany 79 points over the last five years, while it was only 32 between 2007/08 - 2011/12.
Italy 56 points during the last five years and 25 between 2007/08 - 2011/12.
England 38 points during the last five years and 16 between 2007/08 - 2011/12 and we all know this year alone it's already 16 points...
The only league with different statistics is Spain, due Atletico rising up.
From 33 between 2007/08 - 2011/12 it changed to 24 within the last five years. Allthough it depends on whenever Atletico can actually hold up with alot of question marks on the horizon (what will happen when Simeone is gone and alot of influential players, plus their debt is still rather big).
Really depressing stuff. Soon it will be time to abandon the ship.

I'm a simple man, I see Guillem Balague and I ignore.
How he continues to get employed is beyond me. Like, he's nobody special in Spain, a joke if anything. He writes unofficial books with made up stories to sell, no different than a rumor magazine.
