I normally go to Rockville in Jacksonville, Florida every year but there has been drama just about every time (even though different people have gone), so it may not be happening this year. :(
By Mariosalic Go To PostPrimavera like every year. No lineup out yet.
Yeah really curious to see what they gonna come up with. Since Mad Cool in Madrid will have Arctic Monkeys for 99% sure now I wonder if they'll pop up in Barcelona too.
I miss going to festivals. Last one I went was to Primavera Porto back in 2015. Wonderful festival and it had a great lineup that year.
My sister is going to Nos Alive this year, I would love to go but I am still unemployed and it would be expensive as I had to fly there. Incredible lineup this year.
Besides those names, they already announced Franz Ferdinand, At The Drive In, Chvrches, Two Door Cinema Club, Real Estate, The Kooks, Portugal The Man, Rag'n'Bone Man, Eels and Snow Patrol.

Yeah Nos Alive is doing a good job again. Much like the year they had Radiohead and Arcade Fire headlining amongst a lot of other good names.
Really looking forward to seeing Pearl Jam again this summer, phenomenal live band.

i'm worried about the primavera lineup. so many great acts are already booked somewhere else at that time.
Not a festival, but I just bought tickets for Dead & Company for a show this summer in Raleigh, NC. I was a Deadhead from way back and have avoided the various incarnations since Jerry died, but my parents live outside Raleigh and this will make a nice visit/date for my wife and I.
Goddamn it, Nos Alive just announced Nine Inch Nails. As if I wasn't already dying to go this year...
Yes, where I'm going this year announced NiN today as well. That sunday is gonna be good.
It's expected that the Arctic Monkeys european festival tour will be announced next monday. Most likely NOS Alive, Werchter and Mad Cool are amongst those dates. Maybe Primavera too.
Acts that would get me excited for Primavera are dropping like flies :(
Let's see what they got on Monday.

Guessing you saw them live when he was alive?
Maybe Summer Slaughter this year, depending on the headliner.
Yeah, I saw the Grateful Dead a dozen times or so from '86-'95. It's funny that they were some of the most mind-blowing musical experiences I've ever had, and yet if you look at that era objectively, it's when Jerry was at his worst, musically. Not to say there weren't diamond moments, but there were more off-nights in those times. There's such an amazing trove of recorded live music from them that you can easily relive all the good stuff.
Primavera lineup is out

Pretty good but not great.
Lorde alone makes it worth it for me as i probably would not catch her.

Looking pretty good. Nothing out of the ordinary but a great bunch of names. And as expected the first festival to announce the Arctic Monkeys. This gonna be a good summer.
Yeah nobody that was a dream of mine but many good names. The only one i'm bummed about is Jack White. I haven't been able to see him yet and i really like him.

Great lineup.
I am going to a little QOTSA day festival in Finsbury park with Iggy Pop, Run The Jewels and The Hives (who are always good fun live)
Seen QOTSA 4 times now and they seem to alternate between absolutely brilliant and just OK. Hopefully they bring it this time although I was disappointed by the newest album especially after how great Like Clockwork was.
Would love to catch Peal Jam and NIN this year - Pearl Jam tickets were a bit overpriced for O2 London though. That venue can be a bit stale as well. Hopefully NIN announce something in/near London.
I might go to Boomtown this year and maybe Reading depending on how good the lineups are.
Saw Iggy Pop and RTJ last year, both really fun acts live. For his age Iggy Pop still is a great performer. Haven't had the chance to see QotSA live before so I'm happy it will finally happen. Hopefully lots of songs from Rated R and Songs for the Deaf.
Oh and Arctic Monkeys confirmed their festival tour today. For Rock Werchter as well, so I'm happy. Except for Protomatyr and Car Seat Headrest I'm mostly just seeing the big names this year.

Yeah that Rock Werchter line up looks right up my alley. I am going to try and convince my wife to go to that tonight lol
RTJ cost me a pair of prescription glasses last year because some idiots couldn't behave like normal people. had rund around barcelona to get a new one. still worth it.
this year i will get contact lenses for sure.

Nice! Growing up now, I can't imagine seeing those guys or any of the other rock legends in their prime.

Full line-up for the one I'm going to announced today. Should be a fun weekend.
I got tickets for this as well. Its too good a lineup to miss out on. I am staying in the Hive Resort which is a bit more expensive but my tent is old, smelly and broken and I am getting too old and too lazy to lug stuff about. Really can't wait. Last time I saw Pearl Jam they absolutely blew me away. Now I need to work out how to get there and how many food/drink vouchers I need.
Also: Reading + Leeds Festival is getting a bit of bad press because of the disappointment in the lineup announced so far this year
Yeah it's not a great line-up. To be fair though, R+L never really appealed to me. Then when you look at Lowlands, Pukkelpop and Rock en Seine in about the same weekend it's clear that plenty of good acts are touring around that time.
I'm staying at the regular Hive camping in Werchter btw. Bought a new tent last festival summer so I'm good. And with four days of festival you're gonna spend a shitload on food and drinks. We always take a lot of stuff with us for on the campsite though. To save some money on breakfast and pre drinks. And just the right amount of herbs.

there's still enough good in there.
as someone who saw kendrick twice this year, he's worth the ticket price alone.

Yeah Primavera is always solid. Definitely more my kind of line-up than Werchter. But I can't really get my friends to travel all the way to Spain for a bill like this.

Sounds good. Been listening to a spotify playlist someone has made for Rock Werchter. Trying to get myself more familiar with anyone on the bill who emerged in the last 10 years or so when I lost touch with new music. Lots of these modern indie bands like Vaccines, Courteeners, Gang of Youths and a couple others sound very similar but pretty good. Pro Evo menu music.
Rival Sons look like they will be fun
The White Buffalo might actually be Eddie Vedder with a fake beard
Going to dive into some Steven Wilson next because I love a bit of prog and I know he works with some amazing guitarists but I have never giving him a proper listen.

Yeah Rival Sons is good fun.
Let me just list what I wanna see day by day, maybe there's something in it for you.
Thursday: Gorillaz, Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains, At the Drive In, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Rival Sons and Steven Wilson.
Friday: Franz Ferdinand, Anderson .Paak, Wolf Alice, The Kooks.
Saturday: Pearl Jam, Jack White, Fleet Foxes, MGMT, The Breeders, Stereophonics.
Sunday: Arctic Monkeys, Nick Cave, Nine Inch Nails, Eels, Noel Gallagher, David Byrne, Idles.
Everything will depend on the schedule though.
Pretty similar list to myself. I will have to check out a few of those like Anderson .Paak and Wolf Alice. Cheers.
Hopefully you don't have to miss out on anyone but I imagine Sunday night is going to be tough fitting everything in. It was already stacked before they stuck Noel Gallagher in there. Good problem to have.

Yeah the sunday is gonna be trouble for sure. I'm pretty convinced they'll have Nick Cave sub headline the mainstage before the Arctic Monkeys. Either Eels, NiN or Gallagher will most likely play before those two. But a bunch of those will also play The Barn stage. Won't be surprised if they have David Byrne (sub)headline the barn stage so I'll be missing a couple of them for sure.
Queen Janet is at outside lands with The Weeknd, Florence + the machines, Future, and Beak as the other headliners
Saw QOTSA last night at this day long festival at Finsbury park. They were on top form and the songs from Villains worked great live. They missed out a couple of my favourites but they have got such a strong back catalogue I didn't mind. Iggy Pop and Hives were excellent as well, both just know how to entertain a crowd.
Unfortunatly the festival itself was probably the worst I have seen in terms of organization and set up. Queues for the bar were like 40 mins+ so I ended up missing Run The Jewels. It was one of the hottest days of the year and apparently this was also a problem the day before when Liam Gallagher played.
Sound was pretty poor, queues for the loos and water were bad and they funnled us all out through a single exit at the end which took ages. Bit of a joke really and whilst I still managed to have a good time I am going to avoid events ran by Festival Republic in the future.
I am really looking forward to Rock Werchter now. Forecast is looking good.

About to board my flight to Amsterdam from Prague. Cant wait to leave again for Werchter Tomorrow. Weather is looking great!
Thanks for the recommendation Linius, Rock Werchter was excellent.
Ended up seeing so many great bands playing great sets. Gorillaz probably were the highlight for me because despite liking them I am not a huge fan and I wasn't expecting such a great performance but they absolutely killed it. Damon Albarn is a genius although he did get the Eden Hazard chant a bit wrong.
I thought all the top acts I saw put on excellent shows apart from Arctic Monkeys. Not sure if it was them or if it was because I was still recovering from an absolutely killer NIN set but they seemed a bit of anticlimax to end the festival. Still can't complain after what was a truly great week.

primavera put out their line up early this time and i'm loving it!
people online are mad but this is a dream lineup for me.

A lot more pop than I'd like to see but still a lot of things I like. But yeah, I've seen way better line-ups from them in the past years. But that's all a matter of taste of course.
So for the coming year I'll be attending at least two festivals. One traditional weekender I've been to quite some times before. And a new festival that's only one day and will be held across of Amsterdam central station focussing on guitar music. That last one costs only 35 euros and I dig pretty much every band on the bill.
