I highly doubt either one of these qualifies for that distinction btw
By jongkookie Go To PostBut that Audi Q8 is also a Cayenne and Bentayga… 🤔
The Cayenne and Bentayga both do sensational jobs at hiding the fact that they share a ton of components. The Urus doesn't seem to care that it's just a rebadged Audi. I found the whole thing very confusing to be inside. At least the R8 and Huracan have distinctly different interiors...those two are way too similar for my liking.
The new and weird hits right away with the yoke of a steering device. Our quick take? The yoke ain’t it. There’s only one thing it does better than a steering wheel, and that is to provide a superior, wide and flat resting place for your hands on long highway journeys. Beyond that, the yoke is inferior to a traditional steering wheel in every practical way.Tesla owners with yoke: "it sucks, but I love it"
If a turn is 90 degrees or sharper, making said corner is just plain awkward. Want to execute a quick turnaround maneuver? Instead of a convenient rim to grab and keep turning, you’ll find open air. And don’t even start to think that you’ll “adapt to it,” or “get used to it.” Given more time to really get the hang of operating the yoke, it would still be annoying and undeniably worse than a wheel when you need to go lock-to-lock. Even when you’re arcing the Model S through wide sweepers at speed and testing the handling, it is disconcerting. It’s never possible to adjust your grip upward or move your hand around the steering wheel from corner to corner, as one might want to do on a meandering road with slow and fast corners of differing radii. If you do shift position, that one hand loses contact entirely. We found ourselves gripping the yoke tighter and with a greater sense of self-preservation — a nagging fear that it’d whisk out of our grip never went away — than we ever have with a steering wheel.
probably
And if you were curious about other build issues, yes, the Plaid lived up (well, down) to Tesla’s reputation with mismatched panel gaps (it was particularly poor where the hatch and fender meet) and misaligned trim. The glossy black window trim was embarrassingly lopsided, and that’s something you’ll see every time you get in and out.Pay $150,000 for this and it's not even a Ferrari

Haven't gotten the chance to sit in an Urus but yeah, it's very hard to tell that the Cayenne, Bentayga, and Q8 are born out of the fancy-fication of a Touareg lol. It probably doesn't help that I've never experienced a modern Touareg so I wouldn't be able to point it out. But between those 3, I'd still take the Cayenne over the Q8 and Bentayga.
The SQ8 to me felt a little rougher than the Cayenne. And the Bentayga I sat in, the previous owner specced it out with the ugliest shittiest brown interior, I felt like a fucking court jester/clown sitting in it lol. I mean look at this shit lmao:
Not my pic but it's pretty much the same interior... brown everywhere. 🤮🤮🤮
And tbh I kinda like brown interiors... had a guy order an M3 in Aventurin Red and Tartufo brown interior and it looked amazing(minus the grill of course lmao). The combo is definitely how I'm gonna order an i4 if I decide to go through with it lol.
Apart from the chrome trimming in the center console and vents, that interior is sexy to me. but then again, I'm not 22 anymore.

Not gonna lie, this thing weirdly does it for me. And I'm not sure how to feel about that. It's that same kind of Challenger utter stupidity in an EV format and I'm... kinda here for it.
Power for the Mistral comes from the same 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged 16-cylinder engine that propelled the Chiron Super Sport 300+ to a record-breaking 304.773 mph in 2019. It's rated at 1,600 horsepower, and it spins the four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Bugatti estimates that the Mistral's top speed will check in at approximately 261 mph (420 kph). Will this number get verified? Hell, yes! "There can only be one goal in mind: to become the fastest roadster in the world once more," Bugatti pledged in a statement.
Bugatti has somehow started making attractive cars. Too bad about the vacuum cleaner engine. Really would have thought they would have found a way to make it sound good by now.

They even said it's because they like the feeling of changing gears while driving.
With that said, I wonder how much utility there is for an EV to have multiple gears. A high and low gear, like in the Taycan, makes perfect sense to me. One gear to accelerate and the other to maintain speed for greater power efficiency. I don't know if there is a point to having more gears, though.

Yeah, I don't see much use beyond a couple-3 gears either but it's still neat. There's definitely a ton of interesting ideas here at minimum and I like the way the thing looks, so good on them.
Right now in the EV space you have a bunch of family crossovers with car ground clearance that weigh too damn much masquerading as performance vehicles. It's just an awkward fit and they should just lean into what the actual mission is instead because they'd be way more efficient/effective at it.
You also have a handful of EV "sports cars" that have great acceleration but get hamstrung by how heavy they are and the lack of sound.
This thing being a "muscle car" just seems way more achievable to me even if the sound is definitely not going to be easy to get right/not come off as gimmicky.
I heard from someone/somewhere(so grain of salt and everything) that one of the transmission manufacturers, either BW or ZF, has had a functioning 3-speed transmission for electric cars.
1st gear for standing launches, 2nd gear for rolling launches, and 3rd for cruising.
If it wasn't BS, it sounded like a really cool idea to emulate the feel of gear shifting in an electric. But I dunno if it'll ever see the light.
It's definitely pure lux. It felt nice af to sit in there, I just couldn't stand to look at it lmao.

An engine with FOUR turbos will never sound great. They act as mufflers. Owning a supercar with two turbos does remind me of my youth and that I still do love the wooshes and swooshes and the blow off sounds of a really fast turbocharged car. I think manufacturers really need to lean into extracting as much sound as possible from turbos, instead of deadening them. A performance car like the M3, M4, M5 and M8 would benefit from that.
Gotta love a suv driver who does a dangerous overtake on a narrow road only to drive slower than I was, and then speed in further 30mph residential road, curbing both nearside alloys for about 3 seconds because she's so fucking thick she has to use her phone whilst driving
Jeez, I thought that that kind of thing only happened in 'Murica because license standards are higher in Europe.
It's really just the kind of person who buys an SUV when all they should really have is a compact car so that they are less of a danger.
By Kibner Go To PostJeez, I thought that that kind of thing only happened in 'Murica because license standards are higher in Europe.Nah typical suv drivers are just garbage at driving.
I really think people should have to take another course of lessons and tests if they want to drive these big fuck-off twatmobiles on the road with normal cars

The hell is this, lambo down bad yikes
So down bad that Urus makes up 60% of sales and will allow them to continue to do the types of cars they make . Good trade off.
By Crusher Go To PostIt looks awful, specially for a Lambo that’s what I meant.
gotcha
This kinda reminds me of when the Cayenne first came out lol.
As told by one of the Porsche salesmen I worked with who was around when the Cayenne came out:
Rennlist was fuming or full-on sobbing in the fetal position. Customers came to our store telling our salespeople and GM to tell Porsche to fuck off with that SUV bullshit. He even had a customer, a lawyer, send our upper management a formal letter, using his firm's letterhead, pleading with us to tell Porsche to fuck off with the Cayenne and cancel our license to sell Porsches if they go through with it. 😂😂😂
Of course we know how that turned out... gonna guess Lambo is gonna repeat that with the Urus for better or worse lol.
Bruh today was literally the worst I've ever seen and I've been here since 2003!
My GTI was literally fjording a river on the way to work.

This probably won't happen again (lol), but if it does, please do not drive through water that is more than a couple inches deep. Either find an alternate route or go back home.
I used to live in/around flood lands and have seen far too many vehicles get swept into a ditch or just stranded in the water because the driver misjudged how deep and/or fast the water was moving. I have even seen multiple times where the occupants have to lower the windows to escape because the water prevented their doors from opening.

By reilo Go To PostTexas keeps proclaiming their infrastructure and grid is the best and now every summer and winter it seems to failI have lost power four times in the past 24 hours. Granted, it was only for a few seconds each time. So glad I have all my work critical stuff plugged into UPSs.
Driving in the rain has actually been pretty lovely the last couple days, when I don't have to avoid other drivers, at least. It's almost like an increase in driving challenge and keeps me more engaged than usual. Fun.
Anybody in Houston that can check out a car for me? It's an E60 M5.
