Spoilers: BMW removed, soften, or flat out changed iconic BMW lines and design cues and made the car look more generic like others on the market that make it almost indistinguishable from the profile of other car designs. The grill being so pronounced just makes those design changes even worse.
"They sort of normalized their own car"
Man, washing and detailing our own cars is a lot of work. I still don't trust myself to properly wax them, so will have to take that to somebody. I do need to pick up some leather treatment stuff so I don't have to pay someone else to do that, too.
Everytime I see an E46 M3 I just stare. It has aged so well. So has the E92. It's just elegant and classy and the right proportions.
The F32 is a looker, too, and a nice evolution despite its flaws.
Which is why the new M4 sucks.

I've had a small coolant leak for months and finally got it in to be looked at on monday. Safe to say the small leak turned out to be a massive leak once they got the coolant pan assembly off. been with the garage all week, about to go pick it up but i have huge anxiety that it's properly sorted
Glad you got it sorted m8
Love this design. The old Ghost had the smallest headlights ever. It looked weird.

I hope it's sorted. Engine temps are fine after a huge drive, just hoping there's no further leak that they missed. Going to keep an eye on it.

Yay, I'm part of the Porsche Drivers Council! I don't think it will actually get me anything. Just means they will be sending surveys to me to fill out. =/

I need some air. That is gorgeous.
Thanks guys! I haven't posted this anywhere else with any real details and I figured you guys would appreciate I started this build in January (it's kind of a funny story as to how I ended up buying this car) and I've got a few more things to finish up before the end of the year so I might post those too. It needs more of a drop and wheel spacers, but aesthetics wise it has come a long way. I am going to get some POV videos posted up soon.
I have a new daily driver I'm picking up tomorrow that may interest this crowd so that might be my next post.
On the topic of BMW coupes... I literally just got out of the new M440i xDrive with that grille everyone loves and I hate to say it, but whew.
If you can somehow get past that grille and get inside to drive the car... put that shit in sport mode and prepare to maybe fall in love. I know the sound is piped in or whatever but whew, it sounded fucking amazing.
Obviously there are better sounding cars out there, but it sounds like a fucking riot inside the car and it really amps up the experience.
It's really a damn shame the grille is questionable coz there's a fantastic car behind it.

And I thought Tyler from Hoovies Garage ran the dumbest automotive channel on YouTube:
Jokes aside the madman plans to keep it for 7+ years lmao. Dunno if I misunderstood him or not but apparently he also bought an extended warranty to add to the factory 4 years/50k miles warranty. So either the warranty lasts for 7 years/100k or 10 years/100k... not sure but I imagine it's the former.
This probably won't backfire on him but I'm really curious to see if it can actually make it that far... I haven't seen much Defenders in our service bays, but all the other modern LR vehicles definitely still make an appearance lol.

I've got a independent Land Rover mechanic nearby and he fucking loves that people buy these things. Literally infinite work for him as there's always something wrong with them.
Jesus fuck... this was the first picture I saw about the iX when I opened the email from BMW marketing today and I actually gagged:

Linking it coz I don't want to people to vomit... so yeah, click at your own risk.
Yeah, I believe we have more LR mechanics on staff vs BMW. Hell, when the lockdowns started back in March none of our LR mechanics got furloughed meanwhile the others had a couple. It's legit job security lol.

Jesus, the iX might actually be uglier than the Pontiac Aztek. It looks like a weird cross between a beaver and a suppository.

Firstly, Mazda showed an image of its upcoming straight-six engine. Essentially, it's the SkyActiv four that powers all of Mazda's current lineup, but with two additional cylinders. Unsurprisingly, the company says that it can be engineered to fit any of the current SkyActiv guises — the standard octane-variable gasoline powered G, the diesel D, and the sparkless-ignition X. The big six will pair with a new eight-speed automatic and can be combined with either a plug-in or 48-volt mild hybrid system, promising big power and efficiency.Might have to go back to Mazda at some point. RWD + Inline-6? Yes please.
Reassuringly, Mazda says it's committed to offering this six in a rear-wheel-drive platform, which will underpin the 6 sedan's successor, as well as a midsize SUV. Both the platform and powertrain are said to be compatible with all-wheel-drive layouts as well.
Next Mazda6 is gonna be better than the 3-Series. What a world.
By reilo Go To PostBMW has lost their goddamn mindGiven how divisive it was, imagine Fiat going all in on the Multipla design language, or Pontiac making everything Aztec-y. This is what's happening at BMW.
I can't believe they designed the i8 within the last decade
I think it's fine. Needs a drop, ASAP. Engine is significantly more improved and because it's made for turbo power, retrofitting it with an OEM Subie or aftermarket turbo should be really easy.
Yeah it looks fine. Nothing particularly special, just fine.
The rear on the other hand makes it look like an Accord Coupe and the new Supra had a baby.
Thaaat said, if they've managed to fix the torque dip... I'd definitely consider one as a daily. The backseats in my GTI get used like 5 times in a year.

They did, funny enough. The torque now comes in at full at 3700RPM, I believe. The old car was something high like 5500-6000? So now, the area where the torque dipped, is the area where the torque peaks. It should be a tremendously better and faster car. Will probably be about as quick as an old VQ35DE 350Z (2003-2006).

Nice. Honestly, that was the biggest issue with the car imo. Sure 200hp was not enough but the torque dip exacerbated the lack of power in spades. It would've been a really great car if they managed to fix that, and them sitting around on their asses for 6+ years and not fixing it is one of the mysteries of the automotive industry.
Anyway, here's some hnnnnnng material:
My next aspiration is to be able to afford a top-end Cayman customized just how I want it (mainly, deviated stitching everywhere).

I hope the dude doesn't see the video until next year lol.
