Drop's self-branded audio products have generally been quite good.
Word isnits the Senn800. I been eyeing the Dan Clarks Aeon Open Flow X drop. Little too pricey for my liking
Emotive GR-1
Hifi 5xx
Sen 6xx been added ever though I don't have like design
Eventually I will find a pair that I like. My slightly modified X2HR does a decent job. Might even improve when I get the stack

I came this close to destroying a hemp cone in my speaker today and with a solid wooden wrist rest. Some Final Destination shiznt 🤦♂️
It’s not uncommon to have more that one pair so don’t sweat it and rack em up.

By Daz Go To PostAny recommendations for receiver? - reasonably priced pls, I am not the Sultan of Brunei.https://www.sony.com/electronics/av-receivers/str-dh190
It doesn't have a subwoofer out though.
Denon and Marantz also make some great receivers that don't always veer towards the high-end of price.
By Daz Go To PostThanks for the recommendations - that price is right.Keep in mind that Sony receiver is stereo only and offers no bass management should you try to add a subwoofer to your system.
e: it also only supports RCA in
By Daz Go To Postwhat if the soundbar already has a sub woofer? Why are you trying to hook a soundbar up to a receiver? It should basically already be a receiver.
Its not a paticulrly high-end soundbar - so I was trying to split the difference - its a Denon DHT-S316 Soundbar
It seems like you just want more HDMI ports, then? If so, just get an HDMI switcher with a remote. Way cheaper than a receiver.
The Bluesound Node 2i is an absolute shit device. Glitchy with a trash UI and I think the DAC on mine is busted or the wi-fi connection doesn't play well with it. Getting lots of popping and clicking sounds for some reason. Going to return it tomorrow and just not even bother with a streamer beyond plugging my MBP into my amplifier until I can afford the Cambridge Audio CXN V2.

I still have one, thank goodness. It has stereo and optical out.
By Kuma Go To PostMy music sound sooooo clean right now.The Atom stack came in?
By Kuma Go To PostYes sir! Got here Friday. Enjoying the experience so far.Awesome! Glad it made a difference!
By Daz Go To PostIf I were to consider Yamaha NSF51 would I be tared and feathered?Poking around and they seem to be a good value for entry level. Something that I think most people would be happy with. They are passive speakers, though, meaning you will need an amp or receiver to power them. I don't know what are good value amps in the UK, though.
Lets say my desire for a soundbar is wavering and I am leaning toward a speak system for a home theatre.
what is a good mid range affordable set to start with?
now keep in mind that I will need a receiver.
many thanks, gentlemen and ladies if they be lurking.

Check previous posts by Linius in this and the Home Theater thread for suggestions. I think some of them are targeted for UK users.
Denon and Marantz receivers will do you good. Try to get the pervious year's model (assuming it has the features you want) to save some cash. Those receivers are good enough until you want to step up to something like a NAD with Dirac room correction software.
Also, after you get all your mid-range gear and want something better, I would recommend to do room treatment before getting actual new gear. A handful of acoustic panels, a rug, and proper sub and speaker placement will do wonders for sound quality.

By Kuma Go To PostWhat the difference between high gain vs low gain? How much power is going through. Typically, you want to stick with lower gain if you can reach the volume you want. Higher gain can sometimes be a little too much power for the components.
Does anyone have experience ordering equipment fom overseas through Amazon?
I am looking at a pair of Klipsh Speakers but the cheaper ones are from the US - will they have the correct input in things such as plugs and power plug?

@Kibner
Say I want to use a DAC with a PS5 and a PC, without needing to swap the USB cable from one device to the other. What do you think would be the best way to go about that?
I think I have two options. Either run the sound from my PS5/PC through HDMI to my TV, then use the optical output on the TV to a DAC/AMP.
The other option would be to use a compatible DAC (PS5 only supports UAC1 I believe), plug that into a USB hub switch and just toggle it between either system as needed.

If you are using the same display for both and your DAC supports optical in, I think using optical out on the TV is the simplest and cheapest way to go. Otherwise, the USB switch route is good, too.
There are some devices that introduce jitter into an optical audio chain, but I don't think you would need to worry about that.

My current DAC (Topping D10) only supports optical out, which is saddening. Do you know of any that you’d recommend?
If I go the USB switch route, I’ll probably need to switch DACs anyway for something PS5 compatible.
Have you looked into plugging a DAC into the PS5 controller? I heard some folks do that but I suppose you want a TV input.

No, but I don’t like the idea of that. A wire hanging out the pad and the audio transmitted over Bluetooth.
By Kuma Go To PostNoob advice. Sell your current dac and get the Topping E30Topping would probably be the most affordable option while keeping great sound quality, tbh. So, I support this.
I’ve had a couple Topping DACs thus far and can’t say I’m displeased with them. I’ll keep the E30 in mind.
Had the opportunity to listen to a SET amp. Still in disbelief that what is a mere couple of watts is capable of producing a big & engaging sound.
Slight update. I’m running a 3.5mm AUX from my TV straight into my amp, bypassing the DAC entirely.
It seems to be fine so far. If I completely max out the volume on the amp and TV then I get some hiss/crackle. Leaving the TV at 100 and about half way on the amp, standard gain. Sounds completely fine to me.
Might just roll with it this way for now. I can flip inputs from the PC/TV with the amp. I don’t do any deep listening with the TV anyway. Headphones are purely there for games.

Bought the Audeze Penrose the other week as my new gaming headset for the PS5. Was considering the Mobius but ended up picking the Penrose for wireless comfort. Since I only use my headset when actually playing with friends. For singleplayer games I use my speaker setup.
Very happy with the headset so far. Connection with the dongle seemed iffy at first but the firmware update fixed that right away. Haven’t had any dropouts since. Comfort and sound are good. There’s an app as well to tweak the sound a bit to your liking. Friends have reported they can hear me very clear so I’d say the mic quality is good too. All around a great product.
