By Kawhic Go To Posti thought eating oysters would be as common as eating bread around the gulf coast.
Not for me. I was always hesitant due to them being raw, but said fuck it and tried them at the restaurant, and they were good.
By Adam Go To PostSlaent elite 🤔
Nah, just insane cost of living. $15 doesn't even buy me a McDonalds burger.
I generally eat nice sea food with vendors when I get taken out to lunch. Don't get a chance to eat much nice dinners with the wife. We go to a local place that's also kinda of a chain but really good. Kings Fish House. I generally start with a half dozen oysters and maybe some grilled octopus. Then my main is usually macadamia nut crusted halibut steak in a lemon cream sauce. Simply amazing. If you don't like sea food I recommend trying this. Halibut is a very meaty in texture but light in flavor. If you don't like macadamia crusted halibut you have something wrong with you.
By reilo Go To Postlol oysters in SF range from $3-4/ea on average

This is where Gordon Ramsey touches the center, picks up the plate, carries it over to the Red Team and slams it down yelling "IT'S RAW"

Took me a while to warm up to seafood too as i grew up faar away from the sea but now i'm all in.

Ya.
By Adam Go To PostWtf. This is in neutral money laundering land?Paid 15€ for a shower and 25€ for a fucking Schnitzel at a roadhouse in Switzerland.
Would get 2-3 schnitzels with drinks for that price here.
By Kibner Go To PostI'm a swamp-rat so I like my fish to actually taste fishy.
I'm the exactly opposite with fish. I actually refuse to eat salmon unless it's raw because it's so much more mild when eaten raw. I have tried some grilled salmon I liked. Generally though, if it's cooked, I like mild fish like Halibut, Sea Bass, Cod, Tilapia etc. I actually didn't like fish until I started eating it raw and my pallet expanded.
All shell fish are amazing. Golden Rode brewery has an appetizer with Muscles & Chinese sausage in a beer broth. It's amazing.
The same with Fender with Salmon. Cooked salmon can make me gag. Assam kimchee salmon that my MIL makes is legit though.
My sister tries to make me feel bad for eating Octopus, but they're super delicious so I don't care.
Shrimp is good. Crab is okay. Lobster meh. Scallops are great if cooked right.
Fish is delicious.
Fuck some of the chewier and slimey stuff though.

By /sy Go To Postnever fucking going to try and cook shrimp ever again
Tried to follow this recipe
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/216969/crunchy-fried-shrimp/
floured it,coated it, panko'd it. at least 45 minutes of prep work and I was finally ready to cook them. Filled the pan with oil and let it heat up(some dude on youtube said wait 7-9 minutes), put it in the pan and everything went to shit . burned within SECONDS, I was scrambling, found a spatuala, bitch melted in the oil(now I can't even reuse it). Turned the stove off, pushed that shit to the side, dodged the oil squirts and made it out alive.
I thought I could salvage it, I thought wrong. Baked it the oven @ 475 for 12 minutes(via martha stewart), didn't taste cooked at all, put it back in the oven and 20 minutes later it still didn't taste good, there was still flour but somewhat edible. Made some rice and dealt with it.
Never going to betray the frozen seapak pre cooked shrimp ever again, not worth it.
By Kawhic Go To Posti know about these.🤤

By blackace Go To PostUtah acting like they mixed mayo and ketchup together firstwe got it right.
Mayo and ketchup are too thick by themselves. More so when mixed together.
Kind of like fried chicken sandwiches are too bready.

On a non-food/work related aside,
I'm trying not to dump all of my personal problems in here because it can be exhausting to put on other people, but I just want to say that I really appreciate having this place. I've had some psychological things flare up again very recently, and it's nice to have somewhere online to help out and get help with. I've never really had that, especially online. Like this is the only place I've posted at where I've thought that I would be willing to meet people who post here. So hopefully everyone has some good and safe holidays.

Cheers to you data bruv, hope you're doing good (or you know as much as reality permits) and that you have a great holiday.

I put my name down to be an environmental rep at work a couple months ago. Heard nothing back about it until yesterday, had my first meeting regarding it today. Got an hour out of actually working, sitting in a group meeting with people from different departments that actually seemed to know what they were talking about, while I was just throwing shit at a wall to see what would stick.
Came to the conclusion I'm fairly out of my depth but somehow managed to blag it well enough.

The last person who talked about the environment without knowing what they talking about has just been named Time’s Person of the Year.
