By Rhaegar Jergaryen Go To PostYou realize there are 3 french films in the top 10 of that list right? You know what "most" means right?
By diehard Go To PostYou know what "most" means right?Movies made by the French have the largest representation on that list, or am I wrong? The French also don't produce as many movies as the US does, either.

How many they produce is irrelevant when the statement was regarding quantity.
By reilo Go To PostYou're off your rocker, diehard.plz don't make me do a bball-ref style breakdown
Is there anything outside of maybe the Kingsmen movie that worth looking forward to in the next few weeks? Maybe American-made? I don't watch enough trailers for Independent movies to know what ones will be good until they are released and have good word of mouth..

By reilo Go To PostDude, it's a discussion about quality and somehow you made it about quantity, lol"French Cinema has like the most critically acclaimed movies of all time."
Me: links to a vote done by French critics stating that not only is the #1 movie not, nor the majority of the top 10, nor the majority of the top 100 are movies are French Cinema.
Make it about whatever metric you want, its blatantly false. (It's a stupid discussion anyway, lets move on)
By reilo Go To PostAmerican Made, Kingsman, Wind River (out now), Blade RunnerOk good call on those last 2.
Who's a better 3pt shooter, diehard?
Shooter A: 400 attempts, 37%, 148 3PTM
Shooter B: 250 attempts, 48%, 120 3PTM

That's like saying the Heat have had more success than the Celtics because they haven't been around as long.

Honest, astute involving debut feature. Sits comfortably between the normal opaque bleakness of the genre and sentimental bucolic filler.
Comparisons to brokeback are inevitable and somewhat lazy; found it more affecting.
Up there with Weekend for my fav LGBT film.
Not exactly the perfect thread for it but does anyone watch Captain Disillusion? He did a pretty cool video this week about older film special effects (mostly back to the future) and its pretty interesting

Whoa I just realized there are no British films on that list but there are a a few co-productions that we view as strictly American even though they were directed by Brits or funded by them.
Colin Trevorrow is stepping down as the director of βStar Wars: Episode IX,β Disney announced on Tuesday.
That was unexpected.
Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ. Was the conclusion that his vision of IX was shit?
Woo. Give it to Jeff Nichols. Or Alex Garland.
Looks good. Think i read a review of it in Empire last month, said the performances were excellent.

That means from their films so far
JJ got gold star
Gareth Edwards got replaced by Gilroy covertly
Lord and Miller kicked off
Trank dropped
Trevorrow shafted 'mutually'
Rian Johnson gon be good tho

Actually, what would be quality now she's in the mouse house is get DuVernay to direct. Send a good message and she's actually good. Knows the system, enjoyed working with Disney, good with actors.
My biggest concern was that Colin was writing the screenplay. I don't really care who directs. Just happy Trevorrow is off the script.
Just let Rian write 9 and bring in someone who has directed a good movie before.

By reilo Go To PostWhy's everyone up on DuVernay??? I can't envision her making a movie that's fun.
Her new one looks pretty fun

A Wrinkle in Time looks fun.
Wow, you just make me remember that I saw Tomorrowland in a theater. I totally forgot that thing existed.
Nothing in the Wrinkle in Time trailer looked fun. Everything was dead serious minus some ambient colors here and there.
By reilo Go To PostA Wrinkle in Time? It looks like a mess, in the vein of Tomorrowland and Divergent.
I dunno. All I have seen is a two-minute trailer. Hard to determine if a movie is going to be a mess or not from that. It is a movie for kids. I am sure there will be some fun
Trust the team behind it more than Tomorrowland (Lindelof).
Tomorrowland 2 looks void of any type of personality. Just like every interview i have ever seen with its director. No personality and way too serious.
All I know is they are probably going to pick someone who sucks.
Lol. this is good.

Pretty sure Greta is from there.
By n8 dogg Go To PostWas there anything fun in the last jedi trailer?Yes but Last Jedi doesn't have to prove it in the same way a new IP does.
I'm just saying, A Wrinkle in Time might be good but I don't see how that means DuVernay needs to help Episode IX now. Based off what? Her history is intentionally purposeful in the subject matter she seeks.
By Rhaegar Jergaryen Go To PostPretty sure Greta is from there.
Yup, she is. She wanted to film all of it there but didn't get the state tax credit.
When she was doing the rounds to promote Jackie and 20th Century Woman last winter she was talking about the movie she just finished directing.
Nice to see that Lady Bird looks like something Greta herself would be in.
Laurie Metcalf is one of my favorites too. ππ½

By Wengward Go To PostTaika Waititi would be cool. Was gonna mention him but was thinking disney would wait to see how Thor turns out. It's his first blockbuster afaik
Just watched Dr Strange. The most 6/10 film I've ever seen. Cumberbatch with an accent was pretty off-putting to me, wonder if they could have just made him English. Nobody gives a shit about Dr Strange lore anyway innit
