BTW one of these is pretty much the last thing I need, but launch hype is my weakness. Don't let me buy one plz.
By Moris Go To Postif it's $300 or less I'm there. Haven't bought into Nintendo hype since the wii ramp up.
We shouldn't be paying anything if our inside man do his job
By KingGondo Go To PostI'm also one of those suckers who loved my Wii U.
I might be the biggest Nintendo fanboy on Slaent so I'm like stupid hyped. Day 1 if Mario and or Zelda are launch titles.
By reilo Go To PostI didn't love it but I loved a decent number of games for it. More games than the Wii and probably on par with the Cube. I still play super mario maker today.
By masud Go To PostMore games than the Wii and probably on par with the Cube. What a bar
By reilo Go To PostWhat a barIt's not. But what can I say I like what they make. I'm used to the slow drip release schedule. I've had decades of practice at this point.
I'm down with only a few AAA games, and the Switch's format strikes me as genuinely novel, not gimmicky. Mobile Skyrim sounds like a great way to pass a few hours on a plane.
I simply don't have the time or dedication anymore to play every big release.

By GQman2121 Go To PostVery nice OP. I will be attending this evening.
Wherever you are, the presentation is tomorrow.
hopefully we have a decent account system that keeps all my wii/wii u/3ds purchases intact and ties them to the account rather than the system this time
lol

It's the My Nintendo account. They launched it earlier in the year, you can sign up for it now.
I don't know if it tracks Wii purchases though. But if you migrated your Wii to Wii U, they might have a process to push all that stuff forward to Switch somehow.
By Dipro Go To PostPrepare to be disappointed though.
My hopes are modest.
1. Most robust Virtual Console ever. More non-Nintendo systems - include platforms that have been completely ignored in emulation/re-releases over the years like Sega/Turbo CD, Saturn. Make Konami put Snatcher & Policenauts on there.
2. The Xenoblade Chronicles X release redoes all the faces to not look like goo, includes a stronger Xenogears-esque central plot and more depth to existing systems. Also, collision with enemies & objects.
3. Phantasy Star Online 2 in the West.
4. Super Luigi 2. The first one was platformer of the forever.
5. Using the buttons as a dpad isn't as awful as it looks.
6. Zombi 2 (3?) If Zombi U weren't rushed it would have been an all-timer. It was close as it was.
7. Metroid is back and not dumb or boring.
8. Kamiya walks out and says "Bayonetta 3. Switch exclusive." And then leaves.
9. SNK
10. BACKWARDS COMPATIBILITY FOR CONTROLLERS. Seriously. If you don't give me anything else from this list, just don't make me buy another pro controller or wiimote.
None of that will happen. But it's fun to want things. Hoping for a third party exclusive is weird though.
It all seems perfectly reasonable to me. Except PSO, that's a pipe dream.
What are you guys hoping for?
What are you guys hoping for?
Has Been Heroes – Indie viking style action game. Being developed by Frozenbyte (Shadwen, Nine Parchments).
Fast RMX – Fast Racing NEO redone on Switch with new content.
Snipperclips – Small title that uses the two joycons for two players. That's all I know.
Splatoon 2 – It's a sequel, not just a port.
Super Bomberman R – Surprise!
Arms – Fantasy fighting game. All characters are themed and have long arms with different powers/effects. Art style very reminiscent of The Wonderful 101, may be developed by Platinum Games.
Disgaea 5 Complete – Original game with all DLC
Ultra Street Fighter 2: The Final Challengers – Port with new content.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Port with new content.
Super Mario Odyssey – New 3D Mario title. Logo has a plane in it, implying a new flight mechanic.
Zelda BoTW
Just Dance 2017
Skylanders Imaginators
1 2 Switch – The Switch's minigame compilation, showcasing the tech. Games include (don't know exact names) Samurai Training, Wild West Shootout, Crack the safe, milk, ball catch and copy the beat.
well this and hopefully some cool stuff for the future. maybe first look from Retro.
That Street Fighter 2 port is the only thing on that list that raises my pulse, unless that Platinum game kills it. I really hope that list isn't right.
By livefromkyoto Go To Postreally hope that list isn't right.well...
By Dipro Go To PostPrepare to be disappointed though.
I mean, there's already a portable version out there, and everybody loved it on the Gamecube. Why not?
That list has to be fake. Bomberman would imply that Konami is developing games and we all know that isn't true
By jjasper Go To PostThat list has to be fake.konami makes plenty of games, could also license it.
list is solid.
By jjasper Go To PostThat list has to be fake. Bomberman would imply that Konami is developing games and we all know that isn't true
Actually, that part of it's totally plausible. Hudson's Momotaro Dentetsu series ran forever in Japan and is beloved. Konami was letting it languish so Nintendo licensed it from them for a song and made the game on their own (with the help of Itagaki of all people). It just came out and has been a big hit so far, selling a couple of hundred thousand units and getting spots on variety shows with a ton of adult nostalgia, etc.
Bomberman would be the exact same situation, I can totally see Konami giving zero fucks about the franchise and Nintendo seeing a perfect opportunity for a local multiplayer game with simple controls that would be perfect for the joycons.
By Dipro Go To Postkonami makes plenty of games
Well, I don't know about that. Konami pretty much bailed out of consoles and makes like 3 games in that world. PowerPro, Winning 11, the shambling corpse of Metal Gear and...Yugioh?
I just want something that interests me outside of Zelda. Maybe remasters or virtual console stuff. And a $250 price.
By Dipro Go To Postkonami makes plenty of games, could also license it.Not really but I could see the Nintendo actually making it thing being true as it is a prefect game for the system.
list is solid.
If that's list though..... I'll just play Zelda on my Wii U.

Same. I mean, maybe those games blow us away, but after Nintendo basically going dark for 2 years and all the crazy rumours and their whole future riding on this thing, it seems reasonable to expect more fireworks.
Reason why it might not be legit: doesn't include that super-heavily rumoured rabbids game.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostReason why it might not be legit: doesn't include that super-heavily rumoured rabbids game.this list is media hands on after the event not all games in 2017.

I like (note the present tense) my Wii U. Nintendo in HD is great! I have not even played Splatoon or Xenoblade. This topic is ANOTHER reminder that I need to finish Bayonetta 2. Still need to play CAPTAIN TOAD and Yoshis Wolly World is still in the shrinkwrap.
The New Super Luigi Bro is STRAIGHT TRASH tho. Super Mear Boy wannabe.
It did NOT have as large a library as the Wii though. I sold half my Wii library in 2011 or 2012, which reminds me: Sin and Punishment and I he Goldeneye remake are still in shrinkwrap.
I'll watch butthe only time I ever got hype for something was Smash Bros Brawl, because my friends played fighting games DAILY in college, and Smash was in the rotation. The forced timed matches KILLED that game for me. And I'm the only Wii U owner I know (which does not say much).

I'm gonna go ahead and call BS on at least part of that - they're not underproducing it.
Nintendo's CEO already gave guidance to investors that they'd be producing 2 million for the first 2 weeks:
That's a very healthy amount to sell at launch.
I'm also not sure how or why preorder deposits would be Nintendo's call rather than the retailer's.

Reading that thread, nobody seems to be in agreement that that's a good number. Guess we will wait and see.
I stood in line 2 weeks before Christmas for my Wii and didn't see a console in a store for almost two years. Purchased my Wii U heavily discounted on eBay or Craig's list (I forget which).
Too random to predict.

that's a lot.
By jjasper Go To Post2 million for a worldwide launch is not a lot.I'm saying.
Getting one without a preorders going to be a bitch, especially so if Zelda is at launch.
Preordering is going to suck too.
if i can't preorder that shit on friday im never getting the system. defeats the purpose of preorders if you don't care about trying to meet the actual demand. this is a billion dollar company, not some small startup. stop being so cheap. it's okay to produce an extra thousand systems, people aren't going to think nintendo is worthless if they walk into target and see a switch on the shelf

PS4 sold 2 million in its first two weeks and it had the biggest launch in history. I'm not really sure what there is to debate here.
Even if you think they should be reading demand and producing even more, they had to make the call on how many to produce last summer, way before they knew how big hype would or wouldn't get. I mean, they probably still don't.
By RobNBanks Go To Postif i can't preorder that shit on friday im never getting the system.
I don't quite get this...presumably you'd want to own the system throughout its lifespan, not just the first month it's on the market.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostPS4 sold 2 million in its first two weeks and it had the biggest launch in history. I'm not really sure what there is to debate here.I might be wrong but wasn't the PS4 only available in the US the first two weeks?
I guess it all comes down to how they stagger the launch.

The 2 million number was global:
Sony says that PlayStation 4 was “the largest console launch in history,” with Jack Tretton, president and CEO of SCEA, calling sales “incredibly strong” since launch. “In North America alone, more than one million PS4 units were sold in only 24 hours and we’re pleased NPD has reported that PS4 was the top selling next gen platform for both hardware and software in November,” Tretton said. “We are humbled by the passion and excitement demonstrated by gamers for PS4. Demand continues to overwhelm supply, but we’re working hard to get PS4 units into the hands of customers throughout the holiday season.” Sony previously reported that 2.1 million PlayStation 4s have been sold globally.

(One of those was mine).
So I think people wanting a Switch will probably be fine unless demand is historic.
By livefromkyoto Go To PostI really hope that list isn't right.😂
