And Vettel is joining the fun, spun earlier and could keep it out of the tire wall last corner. Guess the strong wind is fooling the drivers?
Renault's not crashing but their rear wing oscillation on opened DRS looks like accident about to happen

long - run Sainz
Hard to read anything in to those times with all the red flags, long run Lewis looked faster than the Ferrari's and McLaren should have another good weekend.

By markao Go To Postbit mehWas there a gust of wind in that corner?
By Spengo Go To PostWas there a gust of wind in that corner?Probably more a combination of straights being uphill and long, so you have to drive with less downforce than you would want to. Add some heavy gust of wind and cars are than probably a bit more perceptible to it here.
More normal session, add Merc normally winning a bit more from FP3 to Q and it will be really close. Max just behind, little error last lap, so if any of those 4 don't do a perfect lap he might be close enough to pick them of.
McLaren best of the rest, shame Carlos has to start from the back of the grid en of course mega close between the rest, short lap makes the gaps even smaller.
Curious if Merc/Fer finally do 3 laps in Q3 like RBR have been doing the last few years in Spielberg.
By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostLooking good so far.Yes, but expected them in Q2 on those, maybe they have extra set, no out on reds and Lewis might be pen with Kimi blocking
Ferrari only ones on mediums, right?
Q1
Both Renaults out, did Kevin pull a "Nico Monaco", because the others all lost time due to flag in middle sector :P

By Shanks D Zoro Go To PostThe fuck is going on there?reds did last yesterday, but did not expect Ferrari to take the gamble (tomorrow even hotter). Than again, the moment Ferrari stops for the hards/meds, the others can not stay out to long.

I meant with Vettel's car haha.
Although, yeah, didn't expect the Ferrari's to be wanting to start on the softs. Must feel top two is theirs and hoping to just scurry off in the distance tomorrow.
By markao Go To Postmissed Vettel's issues, kerb?
A leak maybe
By Punished Go To PostMerc will get this with a good slipstreamthey also need to find time in 2nd sector
Let's give Lewis 3 place grid penalty please, even better race ;)
And the full Q session:
Gasly's Q2 time was quick enough  , Kevin will be P10 with penalties, so Gasltly in front of Vettel, let's see how long that will last.
By Spengo Go To PostCharles and Max in the front row would be mad.Ferrari power and whatever start Max has, by the time they reach 4th corner Charles will be in front, so maybe better to let Lewis and Charles fight it out and take advantage of it, or play Dutchy and lock the camper on Charles towbar.
Think Kevin was a happy camper
Lewis 3 place grid penalty, so two young guns ahead of Valteri on the grid tomorrow nice.gif

Took the FIA couple of hours, but they have a new grid
Still do not understand why they do not apply 1st penalty --> new grid --> next one with a penalty --> new grid --> etc., would make things so much easier (ignoring the 20th place + penalties)

By Spengo Go To PostThings have started looking up for McLaren since they hired that guy from the Porsche racing team.bit unfair to those that actually developed this years car and it mainly came from the fact that Barca (winter test) did not really suit their cars strengths and it looked therefore worse in wintertesting than it actually was.
Last few seasons their car had way to much drag, they fixed that this year and even went a bit to far imo. They are the Ferrari of the midfield, gaining on the straights and as long as there aren't to many low/mid speed corners they will do well. Like Ferrari they need to add some downforce at the cost of drag and I think they would be even more competitive on more tracks. With Key as their new tech director and people as Seidl on-board the future, as long as Renault keeps delivering, looks more promising (budget cap could help them from 2021 on).
So with the young guns on row 1 we should be in for a great start right, especially with the mercs right behind them.
Also can totally see Ghostly ending below 6th if the midfield teams have some pace.

I’m feeling a Ferrari 1-2.
Charles has the W lockdowned as long as he doesn’t fuck up.
But I expect fireworks from Seb.

Can see Charles win it, if reds survive the heat in the 1st stint, but for Vettel to get past both Mercs and Max something needs to happen on track. A well timed vsc or sc might hel, or both Mercs pulling a "f3 Prema", were two teammates took eachother out in the last lap while leading.
Max needs to pick a tow from Charles in the first few laps to stay ahead of the Mercs and than see what tire strategy is the right one.

By Spengo Go To PostMy expectations for this race are dangerously high.corner 1/3 crash incoming ;)
llets hope race delivers, in need of a good one.
