I am looking forward to it. It's been awhile.
By diehard Go To Postready to blind someone by RGB
Yes. I already have 5 of the regular ML 140 Pros that I'm using now. The new H115i Platinum only comes with the RGB version of those fans. I couldn't have 3 non matching fans in my case, so I was forced to jump :)
By Smokey Go To PostUpgrade Secured.Absolute mad man. I thought for sure you'd go with X299.
Bought the Mobo, CPU, and cooler today from Microcenter. Rest will be coming from Newegg tomorrow.

Holdovers from current rig - 2080ti, Samsung Evo 750GB, and unopened Samsung 250GB NVME boot drive. Will be keeping my Air 540 until case revisions hit in the spring. Retiring my 1300w PSU and my mechanical HDD. ALL SSD in the new rig.
Ready to build 😤

I was going to as of last night. But I changed my mind this morning. The 9900k at 5ghz (which I'm expecting to hit) will clearly be faster than the 9900x I was looking at. Combined with the 3600 DDR4, I couldn't pass it over. I went with more cores last time (my current rig), and with my x299 config there was about a ~$800 difference. Without the 2TB SSD.
I just bought a 580 because the value is insane with the games that AMD is bundling with the cards. I'm gonna have a decently competent PC for the first time in like a decade.

You get like 3 games? If so that's a great deal. I wish I could rock with AMD.

It might be one of those things where you have to have a Radeon card..similar to what Nvidia started doing with their codes

By Smokey Go To PostOhOkay. I'll let you know when I get the key.
I'm that case. $27 for DMC V ?
By Zabojnik Go To PostFucking hell at the price of that motherboard.
I've always took the stance of getting the best/most motherboard you can and the best PSU you can. Both are the lifeblood of the system. That motherboard has so many features it's crazy. The reviews I've watched say that the 9900k doesn't stress it at all, and you're limited by the chip itself vs the board. The Aorus Master would of been a solid choice, and I strongly considered it especially with Gigabytes VRMs on Z390. But at the end of the day I'm used to the ASUS bios and their motherboards, so that won out.
Tonnsss of watercooling ports on my board to which is nice. I will probably make that jump at some point. I made a config on EK and it came out to like $700 for everything. It can wait.
The rest of the parts will be here today. Trying to decide if I wanna tear everything down tonight or wait for the weekend. Ordered a Commander Pro for fan control that will arrive tomorrow but it's not necessary to get everything running...🤔
Think I may want to sell this 2080Ti and get a 3 slot card and maybe a second monitor (HRF), and that will be it for a while.

I thought your 2080Ti was the 2.75 slot variant? Smokey on a FTW3 coming soon?

Nope. I have the Xc, not the ultra.

How can anybody take AMD seriously
In fairness, there’s only about 100 people left in the country to buy a £800 GPU since Brexit.

to be fair we're a month away from total economic apocalypse so AMD probably have that in mind.
By rerixo Go To Postdamn amazon selling 1tb sandisk ssd for £100. it really is the time for full ssd.
Yeppp
Looks like a very good card ... if it was 150$ less. Not sure what AMD thinking is here.
I guess they just want to stay in the game and don't care about competing.

By Zabojnik Go To PostLooks like a very good card … if it was 150$ less. Not sure what AMD thinking is here.It was only about 5% slower than the similarly priced 2080, with possibly more potential when it comes to mixed work. The price should probably be 25-50$ less, though, since it runs hotter and takes a bit more power to go along with the slight performance hit (no idea if future drivers will make it more competitive).

By Laboured Go To PostWhat's its ray tracing performance like?Ray tracing was cool for a while in Q4 2018. The gamers have moved on.

Don’t forget louder too! 54.5dB. It almost gains a decibel for every frame it renders at 4K.
Can’t wait to see some unpractical overclocking with it though. Should be a neat watch.
