Not proud to say my expenses on fittings has doubled now, but I gotta finish building the whet dream.
Two sets of QDCs so I can take the side rad off and loop the system without it installed for style points.
A ball valve for an external drain port, a couple double rotary 45 degree bends to sort out the tubing run from the bottom rad to the side. Few other bits too as a precaution just in case I’ve messed up on working this shit out on my head

Fittings are the one thing that will get you when going whet, at least my outside observations. There's a bunnchh of them.
By Smokey Go To PostFittings are the one thing that will get you when going whet, at least my outside observations. There's a bunnchh of them. They’re fucking expensive I’ll tell you that much.
£3.50 for standard compression fitting to fit the tubing, need 2 for each component in the loop (I.e. GPU block, reservoir, radiator, etc). I needed 10.
Angled fittings are like £7 each, so depending on how many tight 90 degree bends you need/want, the jack tf out of the price. I think went with 8 originally, but needed an extra two. One to make the drain port more accessible and one extra as precaution, plus two dual rotary 45 degree fittings for the bottom rad.
Any extra fancy bits, like a ball valve/stopcock, flow meter or quick disconnects and shit easily goes into excess of £100
and here i was undecided on my case.
Absolutely amazed only an external harddrive died with the water damage I had yesterday. My PC standing on the ground cause I'm an idiot, and was straight up standing and running in a few CM's of water. Top 10 anime moments getting that shit turned off and everything else here.

That’s the wrong kind of whet
Re worked every bit of tubing with the new fittings to fix my issue with the bottom rad.
90 degree > 20mm extension > 90 degree > double 45 degree to clear the all the cables and give enough height to clear the GPU backplate.
Two runs left to do that’ll connect to the side rad, now featuring QDC fittings so I can pop that bitch off and admire the fuck out of my hard work.
Vapes, after all of this, I want you to lay out cost and time spent v the average temperatures decrease.
but you a scrub if you arent water cooling your RAM
DDR4 at high frequency (1.35V) arguably doesnt even need a heatspreader

For what it’s worth my man, I’ve been running my Team Group DDR4 without the heatspreaders for over a year. CL14/3200mhz/1.35v and tried C16/3600mhz/1.4v. Absolutely no issues with it.
I got the EK Monarch heatspreaders just because they matched the look of the Phanteks blocks and EK fittings so well.
Why cut your fingers trying to cram everything into a small enclosure when you can build something like this.

Great messaging, zabosan
More like why be a roided out gym rat midget when you can have the physique and appearance of Captain America.
I rest my case.
This #beef is kind of making me want to go all-out water, lol. The temptation was always there, but now ...

By Smokey Go To PostWhen are you expecting to be finishedI could finish it off now, but I’m waiting till tomorrow so I’ve got more time.
Just needs two runs of tubing to the side rad, then leak testing/cleaning and filling with coolant.
I got a cleaning solution from Mayhems to throw through it. Already cleaned the rads out with water and vinegar before installing, but I just want to make sure it’s spotless inside so I don’t get anything growing in it.
Should be fully up and running again on Saturday.
Well, it’s a loop now, so that’s great.
Somehow a small particle has found its way into my CPU block fins though. Checking for leaks now, then gonna run my Mayhems cleaning shit through it.

Good news is that the QDC fittings work superbly well. Side rad comes straight off so fixing this minor fuck up wont be too much trouble. I hope.
Hauled my arse to Asda to get more distilled water and some paper clips to get that bit out the block.
Ezpz this water cooling shit. Max speed on the DDC 3.2 by the way isn’t half as obnoxious as I expected it to be.

Surprisingly easy to get that little cunt out of the CPU block. My guess is it came out the reservoir. Should’ve rinsed it, but oh well.
Running Mayhems blitz through now for a good clean. Probably leave it going for an hour or two. None of that 12-24 hour bullshit.
Then a shitload of distilled water, and finally clear coolant.
2 hours of Blitz done. Halfway through the first run of distilled. Hour long run, 4 to do total. Pulling an all nighter on this shit. The dream demands it.
Think that's a Meshify S2. Height and width are the same as the Meshify C, but it's a good 13-15cm longer.
Where would one acquire a bunch of old / dead motherboards online? Ebay seems to be the obvious place. I'm thinking of resuming (well, more like getting started on) an old project of mine, the motherboard wall.
Definitely don't want to buy them one by one or have to take apart 40 old computers from an electronic hardware dumping ground or some shit.

first glance, it looks like a 3d environment of a city at bird's eye view with just the ambient occlusion pass.
really cool looking.

Edit
Haha I see kabro saw the same thing lol
Hypothetically, I have around £1,200 to spend on a new build. Will need a monitor and case. Any ideas or recommendations?

By Facism Go To PostHypothetically, I have around £1,200 to spend on a new build. Will need a monitor and case. Any ideas or recommendations?Imma need you to add another 300€ to that budget m8, if it has to include a case and a monitor.
Presuming you'll want to spend as little as possible on the case, Fractal's Meshify C is a great choice, if you want to keep things minimalistic and stylish. Corsair Carbide 275R is another solid option at around the 70€ mark. If you can't live without rgb fans on full display, then something like the Corsair Crystal 460X or 570X will do, but you'll be paying double.
You'll be looking at proper gaming monitors, I imagine? Might want to check out MSI's MAG271CQR. 27", 1440p, 144hz, freesync / gsync compatible, VA. Can be had for 350-400€. LG has a nice 27" IPS '1ms' gaming monitor coming out at the end of August, but I'll probably cost a good 100-150€ more. If you want to spend less than 350€, you'll have to go with a TN panel. That's presuming you're staying in the 16:9 pleb realm.

You can drop the 2070 for a 5700XT and save some cash too. Up to you, but I'd rather take the 2070 or a 2060S personally.
By Facism Go To Postsound. Those Ryzen 3000 prices are actually a bit shit aren't they.Eh, they’re alright price-wise but the 2000 series is just unbelievably cheap. I think Prime day had the 2700 going for £150 for instance.
Plus all the kinks are worked out for them, whereas there’s still some issues with the 3000 series.
I think I really like the G502. Went back to the Powerplay and G703, and I miss that G502. Think I'm going to get the wireless/Powerplay version.
God yeah, g502 is pretty great. Had mine since it was released and no problems so far.
