By Laboured Go To PostAre you it isn't a lap or that it isn't your lap?
It got delivered while I was at work. Girlfriend signed for it, and sent me the pic so I could confirm it wasn't in bits. All is forgiven, the boot is spared.

Left: Just a small reservoir, part of my original plan but still required a pump to be mounted somewhere in the case.
Right: An even smaller reservoir, but it fits a DDC pump in it.
I really do need a new case. But the 540 Air really is perfect for me. Love the dual chamber layout. Only “modern option” would be the 680x.
In other news I disconnected my power play Logitech setup and pulled out the dusty G502 from the closet. Noice. My have to cop the Lightspeed wireless version .

Someone is selling a mini Zotac 1070 ti for $260, lightly used, never over clocked. Should I bite? Looking for a slight upgrade over my 1060.

Mmmmm. $260 for a last gen card idk.
The 1660ti is pretty much the successor to the 1060, at around the same ~$250 price if that 1070ti.
By Smokey Go To PostIt comes out to $300. Fucking tax.

I'd go for it if it checks out.

I’d be pretty tempted by it since it’s a smaller mouse for my babyhands. I need that wireless tho.
Oof didnt see they changed the wire, that does seem like a downgrade.
also man, i have super small baby hands, but it's fine for me size wise.

By Adam Go To PostY'all know what they say about guys with small hands…They have small PCs?
That cheap thermal tape held up really well with the small heatsinks on the Accelero, none of them were loose. Had twist a few times to pull them off.
As for today though, I cast it aside to ascend further

Guise, here's a build I put together for Blablurn over at Mindfactory.de. His budget is 1500€. I think the components are a good middle-upper ground in terms of quality, features, price and performance. Further min-maxing (or just min-ing) likely wouldn't have much of an impact on performance, but could potentially compromise reliability, so I stuck with stuff from brands I know are generally good for it.
One area where I could've cut costs is probably the motherboard, considering that in regards to overclocking we won't be pushing past max turbo on all cores. Gigabyte have the best VRM design out of all Z390 boards around this price point, but considering it's a 9700k, not a 9900k, and the fact that we won't be going overboard with OC, I reckon just about any Z390 mobo would do. This Gigabyte does seem like a really nice one tho.
For storage, Intel 660p will do just fine. PC will primarily (likely exclusively) be used for desktop and gaming. A very solid upgrade for not much more money would be the Corsair Force MP510 (~35€ more), but we're stretching the budget as it is and Bla isn't likely to notice the difference ...
Let me know what you think.

Looks sound to me. Could probably save a few quid by going with the MSI ventus or EVGA Black for the 2070S, but if you’ve gone with the Trio for lower noise, then stick with it.
What about case fans?

Fitted the block and backplate to the GPU. Test fit it first to check the contact on the die and it was spot on.
Fitted those EK heatsinks to the RAM too.
Next up.

Plus it'll be easier to sell 3 years or so down the line, when it's time to upgrade.

I raised the case fans issue, we're looking into it. We might switch to a case that has 3 fans or add / swap the ones in the 275R.

You can get by with some cheaper fans, just keep them at a low RPM and they shouldn’t sound too loud. Corsair’s ML120s aren’t a bad pick, the non-RGB/LED plain black fans come in a two pack for about 20 quid.
Making good progress breh.
I could just send him the Fractal Design 120mm fans I swapped out. Have no use for them. I'd rather go with 140mm tho, if we're upgrading.
Either way, not a show blocker.

Calling it a night for today. Rinsed out both rads with distilled water and vinegar, then flushed with more water. Gonna flush again in the morning with a couple more litres.
Had a nightmare with my fans. I thought I binned my slim Noctuas. Sobbed for an hour, then found them in my AIO’s box.
Also I stood the case upright and those EK Monarch heatsinks fell the fuck off. They ain’t lying when they say you need a thermal pad on the back for single sided DIMMs. Gave me a heart attack.

I don't think I like the feel of the Gaming Master O or O- in my hands. Not for long-term sessions, anyway. Just doesn't work well for my mouse grip, I think. Wish it did and that they offered a logo-free version of the mouse because it is pretty ace and I would have bought one otherwise.

It ain’t getting finished today, that’s for fucking sure. One stretch of tubing kinks up going from the bottom rad to the side rad, tried rerouting it to a different fitting on the CPU block but it’s no bueno.
Need to order some extra bits, I think a double 45 degree rotary fitting will do the trick. Might get some QDCs and anti-kink coil too to play it safe.

If you look closely you’ll see my withered sanity in the reflection off the CPU block.
