That looks amazing, Zabo. I'm going to have to steal some of those ideas when I get a new desk in order to minimize all my wires, too.

If you have studio monitors and any audio interfaces or DACs, or really any equipment that's sitting at the far edge of the desk, consider getting cables with 90° plugs. Or just buy 90-degree adapters for existing cables. Having cables just vanish over the edge is incredibly arousing and makes routing them under the table so much easier and cleaner. Plus it helps greatly with alleviating cable stress.
Not happy with this and with some of the other angles, so I just ordered some more stuff.
Perfection is near.
Reading that pcie 5.0 is on its way too, and that 4.0 might be short lived. Talking like 2021 release for 5.0.
diehard?
I'm sure DDR5 will start to be a thing on shelves too at that time.
If accurate Adam holds another L

Talking like 2021 release for 5.0.This is accurate, will probably be out in very limited deployment in 2020 though. With the signaling "problems" that 4.0 is giving, i think it will be a while before 5.0 is on your average desktop but i could be wrong.
By Adam Go To PostI’m totally moist for that kind of open air wall mounted case.

By Zabojnik Go To PostIt's a time consuming task more than anything, but the end result makes it all worthwhile.Aye. I have some right angled cables but I think I may get some new speakers for the desktop at some point. Some passive ones because the powered ones I have right now use a custom plug and I can't find any right angle versions of it. The cables coming out of my pc aren't a big deal since the motherboard is rotated such that all connections come out the top.

x570 board prices are expensive, apparently.
Gigabyte's MB's ranging from $170 to $600.
I suppose I could go x470 for now and see If I really need PCIE 4.0 for that extra boost.

You mean...an AMD platform is going to be more expensive than it's predecessor because it actually has new features and no other competition at the moment ?
Oh me oh my
By Kabro Go To Postx570 board prices are expensive, apparently.Right now, 4.0 only provides two thing for consumers:

Super fast sequential read/write speeds for storage.
The ability to get the same performance while using less lanes.
It's a big deal for datacenters using cluster interconnects, but even a 2080ti is the first card to show much advantage with using PCIe 3.0 over 2.0 (when using 16 lanes, and its only a few percent). That second point isn't really an advantage if you are dropping lanes, like say comparing Ryzen 3000 vs Intel's HEDT lineup or Threadripper.
ASRock are absolute madmen by the way. Intel mounting holes on their X570 ITX board. That's honestly a huge selling point for people with very niche builds.

meh, maybe I won't "upgrade". I must have a special PG27UQ because i do not hear the fan. I even put my damn head up to the monitor when he brought it up and i cannot hear it. He mentions it being picked up when streaming etc, and i haven't had that experience at all. The UQX also has the same DP 1.4 limitations with HDR as well.

I only notice the fan in my X27 when I turn my PC off and the monitor fan keeps spinning for 5 or so minutes. My PC is fucking quiet too, the loudest fan inside it is the PSU on the rare occasion it goes all out.
I really hope Asus go all in on this DTX board, it's fucking neato.

I hear a lot of good shit about Barrow’s fittings, but does anyone know if their waterblocks are good?
It’d be £80 for a 2080Ti WB from them or £130 for an EK block, that’s £50 I could put into a D5 pump instead.

Dr. Blade linked this to me and I'm so excited:
It's the SilverStone Alta S1 and should be released first half of next year. That's three 200 mm fans on the bottom and a single 120 mm fan on top. Gonna be so good.

Youd have to use an air cooler in that guy or go custom water. Can't run today's (or shouldn't) top chips on a single 120mm rad. That's...interesting in today's market

Vapor chamber from Cooler Master sounds interesting. As does their potential Novec retail solution. Really excited to see that come out. I might actually try it.
By diehard Go To PostI have a hard time seeing phase change immersion cooling being a good solution for a PC.How come? Is it a worry about a fluid continually moving through the parts?
By Kibner Go To PostHow come? Is it a worry about a fluid continually moving through the parts?A lot of it is just price... Novec 7100 is expensive (last i heard around $400 a gallon, although other dialectric fluids are possible) and making a PC friendly case that is liquid-tight is expensive. Maintenance is somewhat more difficult. Can't submerge HDD's. The Liquid evaporates unless sealed.
More importantly for you, the boiling effect would be louder than super low RPM fans. I could see it getting to the point where it would be in the same niche as mineral oil PC's were a decade ago though.
It can be pretty nice in the datacenter as just the elimination of the high RPM fans can improve the PUE enough to be worth the initial investment.
Ahh, interesting. Thanks!
I definitely had no idea that the boiling would be loud. No idea why I assumed it would be silent.

to be fair i don't actually know how loud it is.. that point is kinda less fact based and me just making some assumptions. I mean if the case actually is sealed it couldn't be that loud, right?

Didn't even think of the HDD's not being able to be submerged, even though I'm no longer using any.
Almost bought all the parts for a custom loop today, chickened out and settled for custom cables instead. Long overdue upgrade tbh.

good timing with the tariffs too
More than anything I'm torn between going with two 240mm radiators or a 240mm and a 92mm. The former means I'll be stuck with the stock vented side panel and the latter means I'd be able to keep the pump/res combo inside the case and use a glass side panel (at the expense of temps).
