Uggh, I can't figure out how to change the default boot device my motherboard (MSI X470 Gaming M7 AC) chooses. There does not appear to be an option in the menus. I can choose a generic device (i.e. "UEFI HDD") but not a specific device/partition. I can see the partitions in the override boot menu and clicking on one of them works fine. As does selecting the option I want from the boot menu when I press F11 on startup.
However, there is no way to change the default partition. I even tried using bcdedit and other programs like easyuefi to change the default partition but any changes I make seem to get reverted on the next reboot. I wonder of my motherboard is just rewriting that part on every boot...

By HottestVapes Go To PostProbably already tried it, but update BIOS?I'm on the second-to-most-recent BIOS right now (the one released at the end of January) and the next one supposedly only adds new CPU support. It is probably worth a try, though. It's just a shit load of work to write down all my settings and restore them after loading optimized defaults.
Oh, I fixed my issue this morning by turning Secure Boot off, following some instructions from Enmotus for FuzeDrive stuff but doing it on the slow tier drive instead of the fast tier drive since my motherboard wants to boot from the slow tier drive first. Turned Secure Boot back on and it all works as it should. Yay!
Oh yeah we been doing that . It's more so the cables. I'm installing some Infiniband switches and the cables are thicc. And once you get so many of them together shit becomes a mess.
Used to be able to just cut a ticket at my old spot and have another group do this part lol.

By Gaby Go To PostAre 4k 144fps monitors a thing yet?
Yes. I (and Vapes) have one!
Your options are the Asus PG27UQ and the Acer X27.
By diehard Go To Postahh you must be using direct attach copper Infiniband cables, those things are monsters.
Yesssssssssssss
By Gaby Go To PostAre 4k 144fps monitors a thing yet?Yes and they’re fantastic.
Though I’ve kept my to 120hz, due to some issues they have at 144hz.
By Laboured Go To PostHearing AMD's new high end GPU wil out-gun a 2080ti and cost just £30.With 32Gb of HBM4 too, so it’ll be super future proof. Saw it on r/AMD so it’s big facts.
if I had a 3D printer I’d totally be down for this. I really love the shape of the G305, best mouse I’ve ever had.
Also the new and cheaper 4K/144hz monitors are coming out now. With some quirks.
-Requires two DP cables for 4K/144hz but doing so disables freesync
-No FALD, HDR400, no cooling fan (no longer needed)
Haven’t watched the full review yet, only bits of it before I went to work earlier. Glad to see a cheaper option finally come to market though.

During its annual shareholder meeting, AMD has confirmed that its 3rd Gen Ryzen CPUs, 2nd Gen EPYC, and Navi-based graphics cards, will all launch in Q3 2019.

Interesting stuff. £900 is definitely getting there but it essentially isn't HDR by any reasonable metric.
By Laboured Go To PostGah, the 27" ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ is down to £1,800 again. Allah preserve me.Time to ascend, babes. A true stallion plays in 4K.

Acer Predator X27 down to £1,600 too, which Hardware Unboxed think is better. Must... resist...

By Zabojnik Go To PostI hear 4:3 monitors are making a comeback. Have you looked at those, Cavalho?
No, in the same way I've not been looking at monitors with a 1440 vertical resolution.
By Smokey Go To PostCanucks is fine m8
They're decent with case reviews, amazing with the camera work too. Beyond that, they could do with some improvements.
That mouse looks cool, but I'm not sure the form of it is for me. I end up putting too much pressure on my pinkie with that kind of grip that I have to get something with a lip or groove my pinkie can sit in in order to make it easier to pick up.
Aight, after some heavy play sessions yesterday and earlier in the week, I just do not like holding the Zowie EC2-A. Much prefer the Kinesis Vektor, even though it has a worse sensor.

By HottestVapes Go To PostDo you really notice the sensor being worse while using it? If not, I wouldn't even worry about it.I do. Mostly with it not being quite as smooth. Still has 1000hz polling rate, though. And I'm not actually good enough for the sensor to matter.
e: i do wish it was lighter, though. 100g without the cable. the buttons and scroll wheel are pretty good, though. it also has rgb for you freaks out there. https://gaming.kinesis-ergo.com/vektor/

Or get super fancy and take the internals from the Zowie and transplant them inside the case of the Kinesis.

Speaking of which.
By Wahabipapangus Go To PostEC2-A is shape wise, probably the perfect mouse for me. Just wish it was wireless.https://imgur.com/a/WEUnEQ0
I'm not brave enough to take apart my mice to replace the sensors. :v
Anyway, a good article about mice, in general: https://www.pcgamer.com/gaming-mouse-myths-busted/
