I’m assuming the enthusiasm gap. Only sure way to fire up the right is to appeal to their fears. Democrats wanting “open border by abolishing ICE” is a way to do that. They’re also doing the “show up and vote or Trump is impeached” card to motivate their base

The only reason there is a blue wave to begin with is because the established democratic party fucked up royally. The resistance to any actual left leaning policies/actions from the dems goes to show how far right this country has gone as a whole. Fuck trying to play into the GOP's narrative, the left needs to create its own.
Apollo most of the Abolish ICE support comes from latino/chicano groups that have felt the very direct disruption and discrimination that has been caused by ICE.

I don’t really agree with the logic, for reasons you mention, I just think that’s the logic behind the statement. I think they would also caution that it could hurt dem enthusiasm as well depending on the state. You’re not exactly arguing with republicans in here and I think only Randolph and I wanted relaxed immigration regs

I do agree that each state/district is different but we've seen that "extreme" positions taken by individuals/groups have not hurt the GOP, so to say that somehow the people farther left are going to "ruin" the blue wave is a ridiculous standpoint. Centrist where in full force with the "socialist will lose elections for the democrats" narrative when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez won her primary, even though she just beat a top level democrat. It pretty much sounds like "know your place and stay in line", if anything these kind of moments in history are times for the left to really galvanize and push issues to the fore front be it issues concerning unions, medicare, criminal justice system, etc. Especially since the right has done so much damage in such short amount of time.
