I know but... still.
Gotta say, that XC cooler looks lit. So much better looking than other pics I’ve seen of it so far.
Still undecided between that and the Asus blower card. Really wanna see more information on the latter.

More importantly than aesthetics, what you stressing it out with first?

alright
3dmark installed, shadow of tr installed.
evga precision x1 i cant get the osd to show on screen, redownloaded afterburner and it shows. evga has always been a bit behind afterburner...
Alright. Stock clocks.
Shadow of TR. Everything at max settings on HIGH preset, Pure Hair ON, and using SMAAT2X AA = 57 fps
Shadow of TR. Everything at max settings on CUSTOM preset, Pure Hair ON, Screen Space Contact Shadows HIGH (as opposed to Normal on the High preset) and using SMAAT2X AA = 56 fps
Shadow of TR. Everything at max settings on CUSTOM preset, Pure Hair ON, Screen Space Contact Shadows HIGH (as opposed to Normal on the High preset) and using SMAAT4X AA = 38 fps
The last one doesn't make sense at 4k. I don't need SMAAT4x on top of 4k, but I want to just see what the card would do with everything in the menu at the absolute highest. Still more than playable especially with GSYNC.
Most of the benches do not have Pure Hair ON. If I turned it off, I'm sure I'd crack 60. And for sure with an OC, which I haven't done.
The benchmark shows me 100% GPU bound. I may not have to leave the good old 4930k after all...

Added to it, accidentally hit enter ahead of time.
I did play for a bit. HDR in the game is gorgeous. Benchmark looks really flat without it. Ran the bench again with TAA instead of SMAAT2X and Screen Space Contact Shadows at Normal instead of High
The bottom chart does say 60 for GPU. Regardless of the number, during gameplay it was smooth. Any dips were taken care of by gsync and to the point where i could just turn the osd off. Also, I don't know if it's a DX12 thing, but this is the first time I've seen my GPU ever at 100%.

Idk, I'm not that impressed.
I'm really curious about what causes some games to gain a huge performance increase. Wolfenstein 2 uses the Vulkan API, and that's some miracle shit. A game like Siege showing such a massive lift in performance? I don't get it. It runs on the AnvilNext engine, same one the Assassin's Creed games have used since Unity and GR Wildlands, but the same performance gains are nowhere to be seen with those games.
Nvidia put in a lot of work with open source stuff like vulkan and other areas they've lagged behind AMD in (they said as much) in the 20 series.
I may be the only one doing PC in HDR, but I think Nvidia also fixed a issue with HDR and using gsync, at least for me. On the 1060 there was noticable input lag when running the two. Didn't seem to be there at all yesterday.

🤔
Watch the GN video too. Some impressive scaling but there’s still the standard SLI fuckery with some games.
I'd love to do it. But I need to update rest of my rig. Leaving some performance on the table by not being in DDR4 and some of the newer SSDs.
My X79 rig has just been too solid tho and I'm not bottlenecked at 4k with the 4930k.

Working today for a stable OC. Feel I'm getting closer. I'm at +175 on the core, and +700 on memory. I'm certain I'll stick there on core, just need to find upper limit of memory. Ran Shadow TR bench again. Highest Preset setting:

I noticed the prices for Cofefe Lake had risen lately, thought it was just a case of price gouging but nope.
Expecting another paper launch for the 9000 series.

Apparently there are serious availability issues with the 2080ti. Nvidia isn't shipping orders from their store until first week of October, and nobody knows from Amazon or newegg.

Noticed that here too, Scan are getting them in around the 15th, eBuyer allegedly by the 27th and Overclockers still have just a vague pre order with no date listed. Amazon UK didn’t even have the new cards listed last time I checked either.
Fwiw too, your 2080Ti is the first I’ve seen from a non-YouTuber/reviewer.
Are Gigabyte's cards reliable? I've heard their customer service is terrible and their motherboards are so-so, but their 2080Ti is the only triple fan that'll fit in my case so it's pretty tempting.
Literally everybody's customer service is terrible except for EVGA. Asus is WOAT. I have no problem buying products directly from EVGA. Asus? I will go to Microcenter and get it, along with a coverage plan.
The only graphics card issues I've heard about in the past couple of years have been EVGA's though.
How much are they paying you, Smo?
How much are they paying you, Smo?
Not necessarily saying Smokey is directly responsible but the only GPU I've ever had trouble with (the recent one) was an EVGA ¬¬
Fuck it then, buying a Yeston branded 2080Ti to be safe.
But nah, this is my list for cards that'll fit, but I'd rather not go for something on the limit (295mm)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition = compatible
ASUS Turbo GeForce RTX 2080 Ti = compatible
EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XC Gaming = compatible
Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Windforce OC 11G = compatible
INNO3D GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Gaming OC X3 = compatible
INNO3D GeForce RTX 2080 Ti X2 OC = compatible
KFA² GeForce RTX 2080 Ti OC = compatible
PNY GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Blower Design = compatible
PNY GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XLR8 Gaming Overclocked = compatible
Out of those, the Gigabyte is the cheapest, followed by the Asus blower card, followed by the EVGA.

Speaking of non prime time brands, how are Zotac these days? I've been tempted to buy one of theirs in the past, because you can usually find then for cheaper and they always seem to do fine in reviews with their out of the box overclocking and beefy coolers.
I almost always buy second hand graphics cards (current 1080 is more of an exception) and look for the cheapest decent ones on offer, so I've had my share of Gainwards and XFXs over the years. Never had a single problem, except for a fan dying on a Gigabyte, which was easy to replace.
Still contemplating selling my 1080 and buying a used 1080ti, stay put until a new generation hits.

I usually hear Zotac cards suffer from coil whine, but I've never experienced what that sounds like so I don't even know if it's a real issue or fake news. Other than that, they're the only brand with a mini 1080Ti and that's pretty impressive.

For sure. But If you have an issue your shit will get taken care of in a hurry. I remember calling EVGA at like 230am one morning with an issue with my Tri-SLI Titan Black setup (all 3 were EVGA cards). I spoke with someone for like 30 mins and resolved the issue.
That kind of service isn't happening with any of the other manufacturers, I guarantee it.
For me personally, I spent thousands on these cards. I expect an equal level of service if I have an issue, EVGA is the only one to provide it.
Fuck it, EVGA it is. Gonna wait till the cards are actually in stock though. Not giving Scan £1200 to sit on for two/three weeks.
Might get the Acer monitor in the meantime and play some older games at 4K on it with my 1080, but I’ve got a proper harsh feeling that it’s gonna see a discount in the next few weeks. It was £100 off last week, and the Asus followed for £50 off. Got a feeling they’ll dip below £2000 before the end of October.
