That seems tiny if you want to play even semi competitive fps, but fine if you just want to use it for casual gaming and web browsing.
By Kibner Go To PostIf my Zowie mouse let me curl my pinkie inside it a bit, I think it would be absolutely perfect for me.
Yeah that is probably the one thing I don't love about the ec2-b form factor, my pinkie doesn't feel like it got any natural place to be. But still the by far best mouse I've ever had for gaming. I do sometimes miss the free scrolling from Logitech though when browsing websites.

It's not like anybody paying my old arse to play, so I'm fine with it for playing Siege. I'd like a bigger mat though. something at least 30cm in length but I'm short on space as it is

Their soft is really fucking soft, enough that resting your hand on the pad is enough to dent the pad and possibly move the mouse cursor.
Here is their (poor) english site: https://www.artisan-jp.com/nj_index_eng.html
If you want super glide, they have a pad that threads glass beads in with the cloth. A pad from them usually lasts me about 2-3 years. You can clean them by handwashing with dishsoap and water and then let air dry.

Not too bad for pricing, not sure what the shipping will cost but I might look into them when I’ve got more space.

I don't understand these people who are throwing their mouse 2 feet and still picking it up.
Debating whether to pick up an i9-7980xe or wait for Cascade lake-x, since gpu/mem prices are bat-shit crazy right now anyway, I'm also waiting on volta gen of gpus, currently running an i7-3970x and sli 780ti, does the job admirably but starting to struggle a bit with newer games and heavy workloads when using it for work (rendering, thermodynamics etc).
Can the floor fall out from under mining already so we can have some sanely priced gpus?

Have you thought about having 2 separate systems? If not i would think a 7940x might actually give you a little bit more balanced system for less money. Hard to say for sure without knowing what functions in those applications you are using though... raytracing in VRED? Any advanced meshing options in CFD? I guess most importantly, what are the most important functions to speed up? (Not that you exactly asked for any opinions/help)
Just curious, you had any memory limitations or instabilities from not using ECC in long simulations?

I've reformatted my machine and all my HDDs. Feels good.
Also went back to my K65 RGB and Corsair setup lol. I love my wireless Logitech G613, but it is a large keyboard with the number pad, and macro keys on the left. The K65 is tenkeyless, and no macro keys. Much more compact and tight. Might looking into the Corsair K63:
I don't like how the only back light color available is blue, tho.

The more I use my K65, the more I miss my previous keyboard with cheap blue switches. It just felt right.

I'm guessing you're using Reds now?
By Smokey Go To PostI'm guessing you're using Reds now?Yep. They’re nice, quieter. Still feel good to use, but the lack of any click just doesn’t feel right. Wish I went with browns instead.

Browns don't have that "click" either. I've got all keyboards with reds, blue, and browns. Brown is even quieter than Reds. I didn't like them that much.
Corsair wants to sync your RGB lighting with Far Cry 5
Have you grown bored with your RGB lighting? Corsair is looking to spice things up by releasing new software that will allow you to sync RGB lighting on certain products with Far Cry 5 on PC.
The software is set to release on March 27, the same day Far Cry 5 arrives. It's a brand new utility from Corsair, and initially it will work with the company's RGB keyboards, mice, headsets, fans, and case lighting. Later versions will add more of Corsair's RGB products to the mix, though the company did not get into specifics. Perhaps that's a hint that Corsair plans to release RGB power supplies and storage products at some point.
In any event, lighting will dynamically adjust to various in-game interactions in Far Cry 5. Corsair says there are more than 35 events in the game that will trigger lighting changes and effects.

e: also, browns do have a click noise, it is just far quieter than blues. that is the main reason people recommend browns over blues when working in an area around other people.

Oh, hey, a video with sound recording of a bunch of different switches:
e: that video does a poor job of showing differences in the loudness; getting a lot of noise from the keys hitting the back plate. let me see if i can find a better example

Ahh, here we go. Much better:
e: a good back-plate and o-rings can do wonders to reduce the noise of the non-clicky keys. as will learning to type without bottoming out the keys every time

Feel like a knowledge bomb just got dropped on my head.
Tactile. That’s the word I should’ve used. I miss the tactile bump of blues now that I’m using reds, and feel like I should’ve gone for browns since they have the tactile bump without the loud click of blues.
It was definitely the click that was loud on my blues and not the bottoming our sound (though that was loud too). Didn’t bother me personally, but my girlfriend fucking hated my Auckey board because of how much noise it made. She bought the K65 for me so she didn’t have to put up with it any longer.

Neat thing about my Kinesis Advantage keyboard (their general typing one, not the gaming one) is that it has a tiny speaker built into it that will fire a sound on actuation, even if I am using a linear or tactile but not clickly switch in order to give off the same effect.
I keep it turned off because I find that the noise doesn't help me much and is just annoying. Another reason I don't get clickly switches.
e: i do like the linear motion of reds for gaming since i can do rapid presses easier and quicker. the tactile feedback of browns noticeably reduces my typos in writing, though
By Kibner Go To PostYeah, when I was looking for my first non-Good Will mechanical keyboard, everyone was saying to get browns instead of blues for exactly that reason.See I find it a double edge sword with reds. They’re definitely better for rapid presses, but on the flipside due to the lack of tactile bump I have on occasion made a fair few miss clicks without realising because I didn’t feel like I pressed the key.

Like my left hand defaults to the WASD keys, and I tend to rest my finger tips on them. With blues I got into the habbit of resting my fingers on the keys and pushing down to about 1mm above the actuation point. Still do it occasionally now, but since I don’t have to the bump I just end up clicking accidentally. It’s a hard habbit for me to break.
Just got the g502 yesterday. I downloaded LGS and it's not recognizing the mouse. I've tried a different port and tried uninstall/reinstalling the software and nothing. The mouse is working, it's just that the software is saying that it's not detecting the mouse. What could it be? Shit is fucking annoying.
So I'm getting to the point I have to start looking at used GPUs in order to not pay obscene prices to finish my sister's build.Any of you bums got extra 1070/1080s you wanna sell?

Looks like you would generally want exhaust on the bottom of your case if your case is on the ground in an effort to keep dust out but have intakes everywhere else you have a dust filter.
Speaking of airflow, been thinking it might be better to have my current intake fans as an exhaust. They’re directly under the GPU, about 1cm gap between them and it’s a small case. As it is, they blow directly on the GPU but it seems from feeling around the side of the case that a lot of hot air gets trapped there and none of the intake air makes it up past the GPU.
Either that or jury-rig some better case feet for it. The standard feet on the Cougar QBX really let it down.

Yeah, I think another general lesson is to use exhaust fans when near components that also have their own fans. You are basically direct feeding them dust if you don't.

Luckily it does have a pretty decent dust filter at the bottom, and it’s on a desk so dust hasn’t been an issue. With GPU temps though there’s been practically no difference with/without intakes at the bottom. Maxes out at 82c after a while of playing.
I have 2x 140mm fans at front of my case as intake, 2x 140mms on my rad at top as exhaust, and a 1x rear 140mm as exhaust.
I originally had the top fans as intakes with the thinking that I'd be bringing in cooler outside air through the AIO rad leaving the rear as the only exhaust, but in reality my temps were much higher in this setup. Made the change to my current setup and haven't looked back.

An underrated part of using the external DAC/DSP I have is the remote that lets me control the volume (including mute) from across the room. I have music or twitch or something playing while working and boss man calls? Don't need to fumble in the Windows interface or look for the media key on a keyboard; just press the big ol' mute button on the remote.
The Asus PG27UQ is delayed again until Q3, which means 2019. Ridiculous. By the time it releases, it will have been 2 years since it was unveiled.
So I figured out that the LGS software recognizes the mouse when you run it as an administrator. smh
