By etc Go To PostJust watched Guardians of the Galaxy 2yeah it was really enjoyable.
I bloody loved that. Probably my favourite Marvel film, has the most heart of them by far.
watching 'avatar' on hbo...
this really hasn't aged all that well imo...
jc really missed the window on the sequels
seems about right

Promote how audiences love serialized sequels that comes out in relatively short from each other like Marvel movies, but then pan Avatar for being 'derivative' and that audiences might not like that about the sequels? lol okay.
Avatar 2 gonna do gangbusters.
EDIT: I'm sorry, but most Marvel movies coming out today don't come close to the CG in Avatar. This is silly. Stuff like Black Panther is outright horrid in the CG department.

Yeah but those movies are intentionally aimed low and packaged that way from the jump
I got no clue why people try and prop up marvel movies like they're NOT made for kids first

Avatar is literally a live action kids movie (Ferngully) are people trying to pass it off as more? If there was a reason Avatar sequels won't do as well as the first is, i think, because it wont be some amazing CGI "experience" that people just have to see. I think CG quality just matters less to people now, It won't sell record amounts of tickets.

Yikes
The sequel is dark world tier

Speaking of, finally watched BP tonight. Enjoyed it. Looked super good with Dolby Vision and the overall PQ was really clean and played to OLEDs strengths really well. But yeah that CG was toughhhhh at spots. Dope movie.
And idk if it was because I was watching it on HBO via DirecTV, but I thought the CG in Avatar looked aged (it is 10 yrs old obv). The spectacle still held up well though.
Something went wrong when they did Bruce Banners head peaking out the giant Iron Man suit in Avengers Infinity War. It looked really fake.

Don’t tempt me
So Jason Mamoa and the director Corin Hardy have left The Crow remake, 5 weeks before shooting was supposed to start.
That thing is never getting made.

I can't believe the CG in the first Domino scene made it into the final movie.
DP2 was alright, I think I prefer the first.

By admataY Go To PostGo watch Upgrade people. Treat yourself a litle , its worth it .Really? Trailer didn't look that great.
Its very silly and sometimes its limited budget is too obvious, but i had a blast. Very gleefully violent action thriller . reminded me a bit of a mix between "John Wick" and " The guest " in style and tone .
YO
David Michod making a Henry IV/V inspired movie with Timothee Chalamet, Joel Edgerton, Ben Mendelsohn, Sean Harris and Rob Pattinson

By Apollo Go To PostWTF is Upgrade? The film with downgrade Tom Hardy.
2 of the last 3 older crime movies have been like 'heyyy the main villain is into dudes we just thought we'd randomly bring that up. it has no bearing on the story and we're definitely not saying gay people are evil but this evil guy sure is gay and this definitely doesn't have some hidden homophobia by the screenwriter, definitely not'
Upgrade will be a classic. Incredibly creative sci-fi that will stand the test of time. If you love science, have feelings about autonomous beings, and well shot (low budget) action, then this a movie for you.
Blumhouse keeps winning. Good to know that it's good, Logan Marshall Green really impressed with The Invitation and Leigh Whannell has written some good stuff, his directorial debut with Insidious 3 wasn't bad.
It doesn't look like it will be a surprise hit but it's probably going to beat Johnny Knoxville's Action Point, despite being on less 500 theaters and most likely having a lower budget.
Who the hell approved a 20M$ stunt movie starring Johnny Knoxville in 2018?

Solo was decent in a totally throwaway entertainment way. Really poor opening act, full of clunky exposition and cringeworthy ways of delivering unnecessary gap fills in the ‘Han Solo’ wookiepedia page, but it finds it footing around halfway through thanks largely to Ehrenreich finding his feet and settling into the performance; easily the best thing here besides Chewbacca. Glover is fun but basically just doing a Billy Dee impression. New droid is both a) annoying as fuck and b) hilariously fucked over by the script punishing her. Like, this is demonstrably worse than that woman in Jurassic World getting eaten and there is no reference to its morality at all. Stunningly nonchalant from the Kasdans there In regards to how they shape her character and then decide to fuckin’ ignore it.
Action was decent, some shots were gorgeous and some poorly lit, Bettany just played Bettany, and overall I’m just disappointed I’m not getting Lord and Miller’s version. Even if it was disastrous it would have been more interesting. This was just a summer blockbuster in Star Wars clothes. Nothing wrong with that... just a little uninspiring, especially coming after TLJ.

Saw Lean on Pete yesterday.
Beautifully executed with some really strong performances, but fucking hell I wasn't expecting it be quite so harrowing.

By LFMartins86 Go To PostI somehow missed the confirmation that Jamie Foxx is playing Spawn.I liked the movie alright.
But Netflix should have brought back the cartoon from HBO instead
It's not fair, at all, but the lack of robust colors is throwing me, in regards to Suspiria. Looks interesting.

Remaking Suspiria seemed like a stupid idea but that looks absolutely amazing. Having Luca Guadagnino behind the camera and Thom Yorke on the soundtrack makes me quite interested in this.
Seen some good films this year
Journeyman (dir. Paddy Considine) - Good n hearty boxing drama. Nae has the depth/memorability as Tyrannasour, but Jodie Whittaker is proper good as Paddy's wife; and became my main emotional focus.
Zama (dir. Lucrecia Martel) - Eerie, odd thing about the emotional collapse of an isolated spanish bureaucrat and his pitiful sexual affectations. Wee bit Beckett, wee bit fucking odd - quite good.
Annihilation (dir. Alex Garland) - Well paced, well thought out meditative science fiction that proper echoed Under the Skin (in a good way). I really really like the books and it wasn't as thoroughly physcological as they are so I was a tad disappointed, but lots of folk really like it and I can't blame them.
Beast (dir. Michael Pearce) - Right good wee physcological debut thriller. Pulled the rug out from under me which was nice.
You Were Never Really Here (dir. Lynn Ramsey) - My fav of the year. Nightmarish hellish dance through a brutal redemption story. The point to point narrative is quite wobbly but more there for the world Ramsey puts you in, or more rather through. Great film.
Call me by my name - Nae as good a gay-drama as God's Own Country but that fucking Stulhbarg monologue is cracking.
cannae fucking wait to see;
Dogman (Matteo Garrone)
Birds of a Passage (Ciro Guerro) - Made the outstanding Embrace of a Serpent.
Isle of Dogs - Missed it in the cinema ffs like the proper twat i am.
