By RobNBanks Go To PostSiege community was worse than CSGO.
It fucking awful. Like, I've met a lot of people that are pretty chill on PS4/PC but I've come across thousands of little shitters that bitch and moan over everything.
Do a slightly unconventional set up as a defender? Get cussed out in Russian.
Drop 4 kills and clutch a round out? Get called a try hard for because you actually want to fucking win.
Have a little cheeky peeky at the enemy while they're outside? Get kicked by team mates.
By RobNBanks Go To PostYou’re playing the single player missions in a game that was built around multiplayer, no shitI'm talking about the gameplay. I knew it wasn't for me before I tried it. I'm not patient enough for tactical shooters.

Funny story, originally, I bought the game for the terrorist hunt mode since I had fond memories of THunt in R6Vegas 1/2. Put over a 100 hours into PVE on PS4.

System Shock remake going on hiatus. Shame, I was hoping I'd be able to play it before SS3 (which is still on track). Guess not.

maybe if Siege was third person. My tolerance for FPS is low these days. I'll keep playing throughout the weekend and give it a real chance.
By data Go To Postpeople still play for honor apparentlyFeel bad for that game. Needed better dev support immediately following release. Shit servers, slow to patch out bugs and rebalance characters all killed it for me.
At one point high level play in that game was taking the Shugoki and running in circles for a bit before charging into to your opponent to knock them over to get a free hit.

Do you think the the game play mechanics age well?

division was 'back' too remember
and marvel was definitely going to evo. totally not dead
By Kuma Go To PostDo you think the the game play mechanics age well?Yes. There's a reason so many isometric RPGs are consciously and explicitly imitating them two decades later.
By Kuma Go To PostDo you think the the game play mechanics age well?Yes and no, but mostly yes. It's kind of a multifaceted question, because it depends in part on whether you've played any of the other hardcore crpgs of olde and what your tolerance for old games and old systems is in general. But even beyond that ... BG(2) uses a real-time with pause combat system, which some people absolutely love, myself included. Others can't stand it, preferring the less chaotic & frantic turn-based variant. So if you already know which way you're leaning, everything else might not even matter to you. Of course, you might also be okay with either. I know I am.
Then there's the fact that both games' rules are based on AD&D 2nd edition, which is a complicated beast on its own. Well, kinda. You can actually get by just fine with knowing only the very basic AD&D rules, like how THAC0 and Armor Class work, and not care at all about how exactly stats and damages are calculated. You'd still be advised to read up on it before venturing forth (see what I did there ... no, you probably don't :P) and you should definitely read up on how magic works. BG is a series that doesn't hold your hand and the mechanics reflect that. There's a tutorial, but at least BG2 pretty much assumes you already know how to play and understand the rules. Thankfully, being BG1 & 2 among the most popular rpgs of all eras, there's tons of amazing guides and FAQs out there, so it's just a matter of checking up on things. Like when you come across an enemy that absolutely decimates your party and you have no idea how to counter its attacks / spells. You can die a hundred times, try dozens of spells & weapons & armour combinations and tactical approaches, which can be rewarding and fun in itself ... or just google / ctrl + f it.
As far as the user interface goes, there's a lot of clicking on icons and inventory management to be had, but nothing too extreme, if you know what to expect. The enhanced editions might have overhauled some stuff there, I'm not sure. All I can tell you is I've replayed BG2 some three years back and it was totally worth it. It takes a while to get used to the outdated visuals and animations, however the game can still look surprisingly great at high resolutions, thanks to the majestic 2D backgrounds. Once you're past that and have more or less mastered the combat though ... It's just a sensational role-playing experience. It's one of the densest and most engaging pure rpgs ever concieved, with some of the best writing of both quests and companions in the medium ... and that stuff ages like good wine. Especially when you put it up against the crap we're used to these days.
When it comes down to it ... what flinbad the scudetto winner said, basically. Pillars of Eternity is pretty much an inferior 1:1 copy and most people, even newcomers, didn't mind the core mechanics or found them passé. Most of the PoE complaints were related to the main story, writing and general content, which are features at which Baldur's Gate excels. Especially Baldur's Gate 2, which is the far, far superior game.
I really want to replay San Andreas but I want to play it with all the songs in place, none of the stupid mobile filters and controller support
Since Balder's Gate is based off a non-4e version of D&D, spells will probably be your encounter enders. Use and abuse.
siege's community was actually pretty nice in the beginning, then it got popular and it went to shit

Doing MyCareer in 2K18, they need to bring back Spike since they keep trying to do these shitty stories that are unskippable cuz they’ve been getting worse every year

Man, back in the PS2 days Koei was one of my absolute favourite developers. I put so many hours into Romance of the Three Kingdoms & Dynasty Tactics. But they've just run all their franchises into the ground and I don't even see the point. Musou sales have fallen off a cliff in Japan, even the Fire Emblem collab tanked.
