All the Presidents are scumbags. What is this. It's just a matter of degrees. You don't really become president or even a politician without selling parts of yourself off. Even if we accept it as a necessity or an inevitability that doesn't make it any less fucked up. Damn some of the stuff that gets rationalized in here is why these fucks get away with so much shit.
By TheHunter Go To PostLife isn't that simple.Or do I ignore a surrender that I decoded well before nuking Japan?
Do I nuke Japan or do I fight a costly and deadly land war there that will cost even more life?
By TheHunter Go To PostSo you want us to fight for a fictionalized ideal that will never happen? You can't read and just fly to whatever glib statement you feel compelled to post next. I'm not the one arguing that a president was a good guy. Can't be by virtue of the position and politics itself. But you keep on with this stupid fucking unicorn nonsense. As if applying truth and standards are too high bars to clear.
By reilo Go To PostYeaaaa. I've been talking about this a while now, but it's well known in the Bay Area that billionaire Chinese foreign nationals hire real estate agents to go scoop up a new house on the market and just pay 20% above asking because they can't re-invest their money back into China. It's a significant contributor to the Bay Area housing pricing bubble. I believe I shared an article sometime last year that showcased how much was actually being invested all over the west coast and the numbers are in the billions.
Plus, many of them send their kids to get an American college education, live rent-free in those homes by themselves, and then they go back to China to make a dumb inflated living.
Most of them would stay if they could tho.
By HasphatsAnts Go To PostMost of them would stay if they could tho.And that would create a whole new host of problems.
By TheHunter Go To PostSo you want us to fight for a fictionalized ideal that will never happen?Yes, actually. I want people to fight for a world where no one is suffering from a lack of necessities but still have the freedom to pursue their passions. Won't happen, but we should fight and strive for such a world, imo.

They're doing what they can on their end to control capital outflows. It'd be mad if we're not doing the same here.

By TheHunter Go To PostWaste of energy. No, because that is how I live my life. I'm not and never will be perfect but that doesn't stop me from trying and attempting to become a better person along the way.

Don't bother, to him elections or re-elections are more important than having any sort of accountability or standards in place. Basically fuck nonwhite men over and over we'll deal with it when we're office, except we won't. Tired shit.
By TheHunter Go To PostOk like why did you even feel the need to throw that out that all presidents are bad if you were just gonna use the argument "because you have to make tough decisions"lol miss me with that hipster shit
Like a hipster finding Nietzsche for the first time. On top of this you keep saying the Russian investigation is nothing and we shouldn't care that Trump is bad. I've been pretty consistent with (once again) arguing that life is full of gray; Moral Absolutism is shit and should get thrown out the door.
Like what are you even doing now? Throwing stuff out there to just say it? Trump is a bad person and leader, Obama was neither of those. If you honestly try to argue that good leaders like FDR, Lincoln, Obama and Eisenhower are the same as Trump or "terrible" than…
I didn't say making tough decisions was what makes you bad. the fact that assuming the presidential position means you're contributing to untold deaths regardless of what you do is. there's no other official position on the planet that guarantees you'll send as many people to their graves. and you don't just get there by luck. if you're cool climbing the ladder to swing that massive pendulum, you're dropping all pretenses about morals in the first place. its not like presidents stumble into the position by chance, they trample over all sorts of people for the right to make those decisions. they work their whole lives for it. they make people believe in it or look the other way because its necessary. you guys can apply that compass to someone who's not deliberately trying to be the most important person in the world.
i'd also love to follow along with this russian shit but the stuff you guys live stream? the fuck is a gates and manafort. not only are they nobodies of the highest caliber, but nothing involving the investigation as reported involves the prevention of future incursions by targeting russian intelligence elements that facilitated it. that's why i brought up flynn again. we're talking about clearances as if you can't juggle those like IT certs. furthermore, i've repeated that russia is not and likely won't ever be a top 3 foreign influence on this country again. their extent is deliberate agitator, and we are agitated. mission accomplished. on top of that, any resolution is likely to be up to a year away and nothing that comes of it will be more significant than simply winning the next elections lol. im sure its nice validation or something but its just not worth this level of attention when there's way bigger shit happening on a weekly basis. but ohhhhh man sure is gonna be crazy what mueller does next woooo. meanwhile saudi prince is out in the UK making it rain for the same people we're pissing off.
also, you guys keep saying gray - i explicitly do NOT. i'm not sure why you guys kept rolling with that one. the good guys/bad guys moral gray is some shit i've never subscribed to. if you're gonna screw people, own it. declare what team you're on, what you give a fuck about, and commit to what you're willing to do in order to better your position. i've always been consistent on that and its why i give everyone shit regarding their half ass stances on stuff they say they care about. hell, i've repeatedly said i prefer open racists because they own it instead of going through the mental gymnastics of 'helping' and 'it'll be different' and 'we need to because we can go back and do better later'. i mean you still ain't shit, but at least you're not wasting anyone's time.
there's this weird thing where a lot of people need to believe they're the good guy when its inherently limiting. also where is that fdr/lincoln/eisehower tangent even coming from? i say that trump isn't some antichrist for running on about longer terms... and that's the route we go? factually, at this point, trump's got a LONG ways to go before he catches up with the body counts of most presidents and by every standard he's dodged opportunities to do so even to a fault imo
By TheHunter Go To PostYou have noticed how unhinged and devoid of reality some 40% of the country is right?damn is trump really just that unstoppable lol
we either gotta blame voters like elections are some new process or talk up the GOP machine like they invented manipulation and PR

just lay that out there so we can properly laugh at it

As i said Moral absolutism ain't shit.
There is no moral objectiveness short of what we as a society deem is appropriate. There is no overriding moral fact to life.
Hence why I have a victory at all costs mentality. The dems want to help the most people. The GOP want's to help less. You give me a viable 3rd party that is more liberal and can win I will stand by them. Until than pragmatism is my gudie.
your victory at all costs is fuckboy shit because its operating at a scale that is far, far removed from those stakes tho. dropping morals doesn't inherently make something noble, nor does it make it somehow more valuable
dropping morals for shit which is straight up hypocritcal is..... what? lunacy

National political direction and how our government operates is about as high stakes as it gets without sticking a gun in someone's face.
The irony here is some of the initial arguing wasn't even over any positive rights like say reparations. It was the lowest of bars that dems don't continue to assist in economic discrimination against minorities. The lowest bars have been set for the democratic party and they can't even clear them. But we got this fanboy nonsense along with claims of looking for "unicorns." How do you want to win at all costs and think that will shift the country left if in doing so long as they impose rightist and racist and sexist policies?
By Random Ass Username Go To PostRepudiate the moral high ground and simultaneously lay claim to it brehs.I never claimed any moral high grounds. I said that not all presidents are terrible and my morals > GOP morals.
Not my fault ya'll think I'm just as bad as a gun toting white supremacist.
You have claimed the moral high ground the whole time with your bigger picture nonsense. That's what "greater good" is. Fucks sake you don't even know what you're arguing do you.

I never even said make that a goal.
I said it's a pragmatic move for a cause most people don't care for at the national level for a group that is already not enforcing those rules. That is all.
Ya'll are the one's thinking that means I'm ok with blanket discriminatory practices period. If the CFPB was actually doing it's job I'd want them to fight this tooth and nail.
Because one of your posts literally shat on black people for not being a visible enough population to give a fuck about. Or do you even give a shit what you put out there? And you keep saying I'm looking for unicorns when my bars are low as fuck. Are you serious right now?

Much like how there's plenty who think the Mueller investigation is taking too long, and this means that nothing has and will happen to the Trump Administration.

So when does acceptable election strats because a population is "so statistically insignificant" become unacceptable racism to you? Just tell us where the line is.
the dumbest thing about this whole conversation is that going hard on the banks is one of the easiest progressive policies to sell in Republican districts
Like this doesn't even win you votes, it just pleases the donor class. The "we need to moderate to get conservative votes" narrative doesn't even apply in this situation

Ontario can't be serious with this Doug Ford win.
Feels like progressives have been dropping the ball all over the globe.

I'm not ready for another Ford in the spotlight in Ontario. Everyone is saying there's 'no way' Doug Ford will win but I'm legitimately scared he will, and I'm no fan of Kathleen Wynne -- but I'd rather her than Doug Ford ffs.
By FlutterPuffs Go To PostI've been wondering if the instant gratification culture is causing it, for us millennials. Our skepticism is not in whether the Mueller investigation will turn up anything impeachment worthy. I don't think there will be much that will happen to Trump. The scenario I see is that he resigns, and is pardoned a few weeks or months later by the acting President.
but in the last few months we have seen some spectacular implosions in the administration as well as the GOP. As an outsider, the last few months has been pretty mindblowing.
